🚅 The journey from Moscow to St. Petersburg on the high-speed line will take about two hours

Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin commented on the construction of the high-speed railway (HSR) at a strategic session on the development of high-speed transport communication:

"New generation rolling stock will operate on it, which will set the highest benchmark in the country for travel speed. This is approximately 400 kilometers per hour. The entire journey will take about two hours and 15 minutes," he said.

Mishustin emphasized that this is roughly twice the maximum capabilities of the best current electric trains, such as the Sapsan, Lastochka, and Finist. However, the head of the government noted that the trains he listed, which are already in operation, will also remain in service.

"Certainly, we will continue to develop transportation on them as well; they are popular with passengers. Hundreds of such trains operate in suburban and long-distance routes, and their numbers will be progressively increased," Mishustin noted.

The head of the government stated that the routes would be harmoniously integrated into the country's existing transport framework and would open up new opportunities for more than 100 million people.

The implementation of the HSR projects, Mishustin noted, will have a significant impact on the economy, the social sphere, and the unlocking of the country's tourism potential.

An operation to free the chick from its icy trap took place near the Mirny station in Antarctica, according to the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute.

A severe hurricane had hit the area the day before. Ornithologists, who constantly monitor a group of penguins, spotted the beak of a chick protruding above the snow surface.

It was essentially caught in a "trap" and couldn't free itself, as the heat from its body had melted the snow, which then turned into an icy prison. The polar explorers freed the chick and helped it return to its family.
