📰 Russia Challenges Alleged MH17 Ruling in UN International Court

The decision regarding Moscow's alleged involvement in the 2014 Boeing crash has been challenged in the UN International Court of Justice. This was reported by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) had previously held our country responsible for the disaster. Russia had stated there were numerous violations during the investigation.

"Thus, the ICAO Council's decision has been appealed by the Russian side on all aspects – on the grounds of jurisdiction, applicable law, facts, as well as due to fatal procedural violations," the Foreign Ministry stated.

Moscow hopes for an impartial consideration of the case.

Recall that a Boeing 777, operating flight Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, crashed in eastern Ukraine on July 17, 2014. 298 people died.

🛢Volunteers Collected All the Fuel Oil from the Seabed in Anapa and Temryuk District — Over 2 Thousand Tons

The coastline of Anapa and the Temryuk District has been completely cleared of fuel oil, according to the emergency operations center. From December 2024 to September 17, divers retrieved the last 443 sacks of the oil product near the pier in Dzhemete. Since December 2024, rescuers and volunteers have made 21 thousand dives and collected 22 thousand sacks of fuel oil, with a total weight of over 2 thousand tons.

The cleanup was conducted across 19 sections, with the distance between the outermost points being almost 14 km. The coastline was cleaned manually, with shovels, and also using ejector systems. A court has already levied fines of 35 billion rubles in favor of the state from the owner of the sunken fuel oil tanker "Volgoneft-239" and 45 billion rubles from the tanker "Volgoneft-212", whose owner was aware of the violation of technical regulations. Due to the fuel oil leak from the tankers, Anapa faced an environmental and economic disaster.

The mice and flies were sent into space to study the possibility of adaptation of a number of mammalian systems to the conditions of space flight. After 30 days, the satellite returned to Earth with living organisms on board.

After landing, the "zoo-cosmonauts" will be sent to Moscow to participate in further research.

🇹🇷 Turkey has no intention of returning Russian S-400 air defense systems, contrary to Western hopes.

The Turkish military department has officially denied media rumors circulating that Russia is negotiating the "return" of the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems.

The statements were prompted by publications in the Western press claiming that the Russian systems, purchased in 2017 for $2.5 billion, were never put into operation and are allegedly sitting idle. Peter Suciu, a columnist for "The National Interest," even suggested that Moscow might buy them back.

In response, sources in the Turkish Ministry of Defense were categorical: "The air defense systems are in our arsenal. Our position on the S-400 has not changed."

🥽 Context recap:

🩱 2017: A major deal with Russia that caused a crisis in relations with the USA. Washington excluded Turkey from the F-35 program for refusing to buy Patriots.

🩱 2019: Russia fulfilled the contract ahead of schedule.

🩱 2024: Despite plans to acquire American fighter jets and develop its own "Çelik Kubbe" ("Steel Dome") system, Ankara continues to insist on its sovereign right to integrate the S-400 into its air defense.

👖 Thus, Turkey is making it clear that it does not intend to abandon the Russian systems, closing the topic of their hypothetical return.

🛡 Head of Roskomnadzor: There are only a handful of countries with digital sovereignty in the world

Andrey Lipov believes that among the key features of digital sovereignty are the ability of a national digital ecosystem to operate effectively even when external attempts are made to disconnect the country from the foreign internet, as well as to disrupt the operation of digital services within the country.

"That is, there are two main directions for the development of digital sovereignty: a digital ecosystem of services and a digital security infrastructure on which this ecosystem operates reliably," he stated.

Lipov clarified that there are only a handful of countries in the world with full digital sovereignty, fewer than the number of nuclear weapons states. Besides Russia, these include China and the USA.

🇪🇺The European Union has presented a new, 19th package of sanctions against Russia.

👖 Its key targets are Russian LNG, ships circumventing oil restrictions, and the "Mir" payment system.

🥼 The focus of the new restrictions:

⚡️ A complete ban on transactions with "Rosneft" and "Gazprom Neft".

⚡️Sanctions against 118 vessels suspected of transporting Russian oil.

⚡️A blow to cryptocurrency platforms, which are subject to restrictions for the first time.

⚡️Lowering the price ceiling for Russian oil to $47.6 per barrel.

⚡️Phasing out Russian LNG by 2027.

⚡️Restrictions against the National Payment Card System (NSPK) "Mir".

⚡️A ban on the export to the Russian Federation of ores, rare earth metals, chemicals, and salts.

At the same time, the European Commission did not include in the package tariffs on goods from India and China, or restrictions on issuing Schengen visas to Russians.

🇷🇺 The Kremlin has already responded to the news, stating that the Russian economy has developed an "immunity" to sanctions pressure and calling the restrictions themselves illegal.
