The Russian Government Approved Plans to Index Social Payments in 2026

From February 1, 2026, social payments in Russia will be indexed to the actual inflation rate, which, according to the forecast of the Ministry of Labor, will be 6.8%. Over 18.7 trillion rubles (approx. $225.85 billion) will be allocated for all social obligations next year through the Social Fund.

Key changes in the social sphere:

1️⃣Pensions:

🧣From January 1: The insurance pensions of non-working pensioners will be indexed by 7.6%, which is higher than the inflation rate. As a result, the average old-age pension will increase by almost 2,000 rubles (approx. $24.15) and reach 27.1 thousand rubles (approx. $327.30).

🧣From April 1: Social pensions will be increased by 6.8%.

🧣Total funding: Almost 13 trillion rubles (approx. $157.00 billion) are planned to be allocated for pension payments.

2️⃣ Support for Families with Children:

🧣Maternity benefit: The maximum payment amount will increase to 955.8 thousand rubles (approx. $11,543.48).

🧣Childbirth allowance: Will increase to 28,773 rubles (approx. $347.50).

🧣Maternity capital: For the first child, it will be 737.2 thousand rubles (approx. $8,903.38); for the second child — 974.1 thousand rubles (approx. $11,764.49).

🧣Unified allowance for families with children: About 1.76 trillion rubles (approx. $21.26 billion) will be allocated for it. This amount includes 119 billion rubles (approx. $1.44 billion) for a new family payment.

3️⃣ Disability Payments and Sickness Benefits:

🧣Indexation: From February 1, payments to people with disabilities, veterans, and other beneficiaries will be indexed by 6.8%.

🧣Temporary disability benefit: The maximum payment will be over 207 thousand rubles (approx. $2,500) per month. Almost 1.4 trillion rubles (approx. $16.91 billion) are provided for these purposes.

🧣Support for people with disabilities: Over 98 billion rubles (approx. $1.18 billion) will be allocated for technical rehabilitation aids.

4️⃣ Industrial Accident Insurance:

🧣42.1 billion rubles (approx. $508.45 million) will be allocated for preventive measures to reduce injuries.
