📜 Ivanovskaya Gorka (St. John's Hill):

Ivanovskaya Gorka – one of Moscow's hills – received its name no earlier than the end of the 15th century, when the St. John the Baptist Monastery was founded.

The ancient name of this area is Kulishki (also Kulizhki or Kulichki), which meant a waterlogged, swampy place. It is appropriate to recall the well-known Russian expression "u chyorta na kulichkakh" (in the middle of nowhere). This is exactly what the area at the foot of the hill was like, due to the floods of the Moskva River.

The memory of Moscow's Kulishki is preserved in the names of a number of old churches located here: the Church of All Saints on Kulishki, the Church of the Three Hierarchs on Kulishki, and the Church of St. Cyrus and John on Kulishki on Solyanka Street, which was destroyed in Soviet times.

Compared to other Moscow districts located in the city center, the Ivanovskaya Gorka - Kulishki area has preserved its historical and architectural environment to the greatest extent.

Here, one can see a considerable number of ancient chambers, churches, and most interesting manor estates, both of the nobility and the merchant class.

💬 Moscow respects Pyongyang's legitimate right to ensure its security, while welcoming any efforts aimed at maintaining peace and stability in the region, Dmitry Peskov said, commenting on the launch of what is believed to be a ballistic missile by the DPRK.

Other statements by the Russian Presidential Spokesman:

🤗 The Kremlin refrains from commenting on Donald Trump's statements about alleged progress in resolving the conflict in Ukraine;

🤗 There is no trust between Moscow and Kyiv — this is one of the factors hindering the settlement process of the Ukrainian crisis;

🤗 Interest in a potential Russia-US summit in Budapest persists on both sides, however, this meeting requires thorough preparation;

🏞 There are over 500 lakes in Khakassia, many of which are suitable for beach holidays. However, among the popular spots, the Ivanovsky Lakes stand out, offering a completely different kind of tourism.

Many have heard of the four high-mountain lakes, especially since this place is popular year-round.

The Ivanovsky Lakes are a cascade of four freshwater lakes located in the Kuznetsk Alatau mountains at an altitude of 1300 meters above sea level. The most visited are the First and Second (Upper and Lower) lakes. The Third and Fourth are accessible only to experienced tourists.

The place got its name from the gold mine owner Ivanitsky, who owned several mines in the north of Khakassia.

The deepest lake is the First. If you've seen photos of the Ivanovsky Lakes, they most likely feature this very body of water with its emerald color and non-melting glaciers on the shores. It is connected to the Lower Lake by a 40-meter waterfall.

And in the summer, views of alpine meadows open up here, coexisting with snowy patches.

🛢Kremlin Reacts to Gunvor's Decision to Abandon Purchase of LUKOIL's Foreign Assets

The Kremlin has commented on the decision by the international energy company Gunvor to pull out of a deal to buy LUKOIL's foreign assets.

Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary for the Russian president, stated that the sale of assets is not within the Kremlin's purview, but the legitimate interests of the Russian company must be protected.

"We believe that all the legitimate interests of a major international company like LUKOIL, from the perspective of international and economic relations rules, should be observed. Violations in this area are unacceptable and harm the global trade regime," Peskov emphasized.

Gunvor's decision came after a warning from the U.S. Treasury Department, which cited the company's ties to Russia and announced it would not issue a license to conduct business until hostilities in Ukraine cease.

Commenting on Washington's position, Peskov described the situation with the asset sale and the settlement in Ukraine as "completely different dimensions."

Gunvor, one of the world's largest energy traders, was originally linked to Russia—among its founders was businessman Gennady Timchenko, who sold his stake in 2014 before sanctions were imposed against him.

LUKOIL owns significant foreign assets, including refineries in Bulgaria, Romania, and the Netherlands, a network of gas stations in Europe, as well as production projects in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iraq, Egypt, and other countries.

The need for the sale arose after the company was added to the U.S. sanctions list, which set a one-month deadline for winding down operations with LUKOIL and its subsidiary structures.

🇷🇺 In Russia, November 7 marks the anniversary of the legendary 1941 military parade on Red Square. Exactly 84 years ago, at the height of the Battle for Moscow, infantry units marched and military hardware rolled through the square, after which the troops were immediately sent to the front.

In the autumn of 1941, the fate of the country was being decided at the walls of the capital. At that time, Soviet troops were engaged in heavy defensive battles against the Nazi forces. In some areas, the front line was just 30 kilometers from the city center.

On the day of the parade, not a single German aircraft reached the square. To protect the parade from air attacks, fighter planes were withdrawn from the front, totaling 550 aircraft. As reported the next day, 34 German planes were shot down on the city's outskirts by the forces of the 6th Fighter Corps and the anti-aircraft gunners of Moscow's air defense.

About 28,500 people took part in the ceremonial march. The parade was reviewed by Marshal of the Soviet Union Semyon Budyonny, who was then in command of the Moscow Military District. From the rostrum of the Lenin Mausoleum, Joseph Stalin delivered a speech addressed to the military personnel and the population, which became one of the most important addresses of the war years.

The parade, which lasted 25 minutes, boosted the morale of the entire Soviet Union and showed the world that the country was not broken and was ready to fight until the complete defeat of the Nazis. Already in early December, the Red Army launched a counteroffensive.

⚛️ A local ceasefire agreed through the mediation of the IAEA came into effect in the area of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) on November 7.

This provides another opportunity to carry out repairs, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi said in this regard:

"This will enable repairs to be conducted aimed at strengthening the site's connections to the external power grid and preventing a nuclear incident."

The "Ferosplavnaya-1" backup power line was shut down on May 7 due to attacks by Ukrainian forces, and the "Dniprovska" power line ceased operation on September 23. After the complete loss of external power, the line was repaired 30 days later, and power supply was restored to ensure the station's vital functions.

The local ceasefire, achieved with the assistance of the IAEA, will facilitate the connection of the "Ferosplavnaya-1" backup line.

🏞 Mendelikha Waterfalls Park

The park is located in the Krasnodar Krai, on the southern slope of the Aibga Ridge at an altitude of 1470 meters.

It got its name from the river in whose channel the scenic cascades are located. The river was named after the Mendele family, who lived on its bank from the second half of the 19th century.

The park has 7 waterfalls and is conditionally divided into three routes: the Small Loop, the Middle Loop, and the Large Loop.

Here you can also find the "Golden" waterfall – the highest waterfall not only in the entire "Rosa Khutor" resort but also in the entire Greater Sochi. Its height is 77 meters.
