The Direct Line with Vladimir Putin started with a question about the progress of negotiations on the conflict in Ukraine. According to the president, Kyiv has repeatedly refused peaceful options to resolve disagreements. Russia, in turn, remains focused on addressing the root causes of the conflict — we are ready for a peaceful settlement.
The president also spoke about the situation on the fronts:
— Immediately after the liberation of Kursk region, the strategic initiative completely passed into the hands of the Russian Armed Forces. Russia is advancing on all fronts;
— Severk has been taken, opening up avenues for an advance towards Sloviansk in the DNR. Krasny Liman and Konstantinovka are 50% under the control of the Russian army. This is a very good bridgehead for further advancement;
— Dymytrov (Myrnohrad) is completely surrounded, the AFU still did not give permission for the units to withdraw;
— The "Vostok" group is rapidly advancing in Zaporizhzhia region. Huliaipole is 50% under the control of the Russian Armed Forces;
— Kupiansk is under our control; in neighboring Kupiansk-Vuzlovyi, 3.5 thousand AFU military personnel are surrounded;
— By the end of the year, we will witness new successes of the Russian army along the entire line of contact.

Hero of Russia Naran Ochir-Goryaev reported to President Vladimir Putin about the capture of Seversk — the head of state personally invited him to the Kremlin. After this report, the leader invited the officer to the major year-end press conference "Results of the Year," Putin himself said.
The president noted that he regularly holds such meetings with commanders to discuss the situation at the front. According to him, it is from the commander of an assault unit that one can get the most direct information about the situation in the Seversk area.
He noted that people in Seversk were in a severe moral and physical condition.

Europe failed to agree on the outright theft of Russia’s reserves due to severe consequences, Vladimir Putin said. Seizing our assets would impose additional debt on EU countries, which their deficit-ridden budgets cannot sustain.
What else the president said:
— Other countries, seeing the EU’s actions, may consider withdrawing their assets from European banks;
— After this, the EU could start using any pretext to seize others’ funds, including refusal to support LGBT* policy, for example;
— Eventually, everything stolen will have to be returned;
— We will defend ourselves in courts;
— We will seek a jurisdiction independent of political decisions.
* The international LGBT movement is recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation.

"I met recently, I was briefed on the work of the Defenders of the Fatherland Foundation, I was told that it still hasn't been possible to establish proper relations between the Russian Defense Ministry and the social services bloc. The President of Russia emphasized that he would take additional personal control of the situation regarding payments to the families of the special military operation participants.

The president noted that last year there were high egg prices, but now they have stabilized. Putin emphasized that starting next year, new support measures for large families will be introduced, which should reduce the financial burden.
Of course, this is not enough. We will continue to improve the family support system. We will strive to increase wage levels so that incomes do not fall. When labor incomes rise, the state should not reduce benefits for families with children.

Vladimir Putin, responding to a question from an American journalist about personal responsibility for the casualties of the conflict, stated that Russia does not consider itself guilty of the deaths. The president recalled that Moscow had for many years not recognized the independence of the LPR and DPR, seeking to resolve the situation peacefully within the framework of existing agreements.
The head of state emphasized that Russia was forced to use force only after it became clear that Western partners had deceived the country and had no intention of implementing the agreements reached.

Vladimir Putin, answering a question from war correspondent and Hero of Russia Yevgeny Poddubny, emphasized that the water shortage in the DPR is caused by a "man-made blockade" by the enemy. The head of state noted that the problem will be fundamentally solved after the main water intake areas near Slavyansk come under Russian control, but work is already underway.
The President stated that along with the construction of new water pipelines, it is critically important to upgrade the existing networks: due to decades of neglect, water losses in the pipes had reached 68% and still amount to about 50%. According to the Russian leader, repairing old systems is no cheaper than building new ones, so the authorities intend to act as quickly as possible, combining water exploration in controlled territories and infrastructure modernization.

Russia will not launch new military operations if other countries treat it with respect, Vladimir Putin stated in response to a BBC journalist's question. According to him, European leaders are creating an image of Russia as an enemy to cover up systemic mistakes made by their governments.
"Everyone is trying to cover up with 'evil Russia,'" the President said.
Putin emphasized that Russia’s foreign agent law is merely a continuation of global practices. Moreover, unlike some Western countries, Russia does not impose criminal liability for foreign sponsorship, the President noted.

Vladimir Putin stated that any threats to civilian infrastructure security will be eliminated. The President emphasized that Russian troops regularly carry out retaliatory strikes on military targets, which are incomparable in scale to the actions of the Kyiv regime.
The head of state paid special attention to the situation around Kaliningrad, stressing that any attempt to blockade the region would escalate the conflict to an unprecedented level, potentially leading to direct large-scale military confrontation. Putin warned that such actions inevitably lead to escalation, and "responses from our side will definitely follow."

Vladimir Putin expressed concern that the availability of ready-made solutions through neural networks could lead to children ceasing to think independently. As a solution, the head of state proposed revising the educational process: setting tasks for pupils and students in such a way that they are solved "on the spot," in the classroom.
According to the Russian leader, this approach will allow teachers to ensure that students grasp the material and develop their thinking without assistance from technology.

"We, who lived in Russia in the endless flow of time, in the 20th and 21st centuries, were grateful for what happened to us and what was done by our ancestors. We worked, struggled, and fought. We thought about the future and about you. And if you are holding our message in your hands today, you still feel part of our endless flow of time. This means that we, too, when we worked and fought for you, did not do so in vain, and we succeeded in many things. We wish that luck is always by your side. And we wish that your great-grandchildren will be proud of you just as we are proud of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers."
