One Big Misunderstanding Just Crashed $2.5 Trillion Off the Market

Markets may have overreacted to what now appears to be a misunderstanding between Trump and Xi.

China’s rare earth “export controls” were first announced on October 9th around 8:30 a.m. ET—more than 26 hours before Trump’s post on the topic.

At the time, it drew little attention. Only after Trump’s post on October 10th did markets panic, triggering a massive selloff.

Last night, China clarified that the new measures are not a full export ban—applications that meet regulatory standards will still be approved. This suggests the restrictions were more procedural than punitive.

Given this clarification, Trump’s 100% tariff threat on Chinese goods looks increasingly like a negotiation tactic rather than an imminent policy move.

With China signaling cooperation, the odds of those tariffs actually taking effect are now extremely low.

The result: the biggest crypto liquidation in history and a $2.5 trillion loss in S&P 500 market cap may have been driven by a single misunderstanding.

A new “trade deal” or de-escalation now appears likely.

Insider Crypto Whale Profits Ahead of Trump’s Tariff Shock

A newly created crypto account opened a $100 million short position on Bitcoin and Ethereum just minutes before U.S. President Donald Trump announced 100% tariffs on Chinese imports.

The news caused a massive market crash, wiping out $19–20 billion in crypto positions and plunging Bitcoin’s price.

The trader — dubbed a “crypto whale” — reportedly made $160–192 million in profit within hours and withdrew funds immediately, prompting insider trading suspicions.

Tomorrow will be very busy.

Hamas will release about 20 captives and 28 bodies early tomorrow morning, while Israel will release 2,000 Palestinian detainees.

The captive release is scheduled for around 6:00 a.m. local time.

Trump is now traveling to the Middle East, stopping briefly in Israel before co-chairing a summit in Egypt focused on Gaza’s reconstruction and governance.

Trump will address the Knesset at 11:00 and meet Israeli officials.

Trump on Iran:

Biden and Obama backed Iran. When you back Iran, this wouldn’t work.

Had we not taken out the Iran nuclear facility and made the same deal, it would have a dark cloud over it.

We have a guy over there with nuclear weapons all over the place. He’s gonna knock the hell out of us if we didn’t take out the Iran nuclear when we did.

In two months they would have had a nuclear weapon. Now there’s no dark clouds. Nobody they have to worry about.
