🟡 BREAKING: The US cuts off intelligence-sharing with Ukraine.

Following the Trump administration’s decision to suspend military aid to Ukraine, the US has halted intelligence-sharing with Kyiv. According to the Financial Times, this move will significantly hamper the Ukrainian military’s ability to target Russian forces.
The US is taking control of key Panama Canal ports in a $22.8 billion deal. The ports, Balboa and Cristóbal, are being transferred from CK Hutchison to BlackRock, a US financial giant. These ports handle nearly 40% of the canal’s container traffic, making them essential to global trade.

CK Hutchison is selling a 90% stake in the company operating the ports. The deal includes 80% of its global port holdings, covering 43 ports in 23 countries, including the UK, Germany, and Australia. CK Hutchison is set to receive over $19 billion in cash.

This deal strengthens Washington’s imperial grip on one of the world’s most vital trade routes. As President Donald Trump pushes to expand US borders, US "allies" watch uneasily.

The head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, presenting a plan to support Kiev, promised to turn Ukraine into a fighting porcupine:

"We discussed everything related to peace and strength. And of course, security guarantees are of paramount importance for Ukraine, but we need comprehensive security guarantees. This includes that we must put Ukraine in a position of strength, so that it has the means to strengthen and defend itself - from economic survival to military resilience.
In essence, this turns Ukraine into a steel porcupine that potential adversaries will not be able to digest.
And so the focus is not just on military supplies, but also, for example, on securing the energy system and ensuring that over time this country becomes strong and resilient. The second element that I outlined is that we must urgently rearm Europe."

Von der Leyen's Porcupine from 1943

The recent statement by Ursula "in Tatters" von der Lying about "turning Ukraine into a steel porcupine" reminds of a similar statement, coming from the Nazi-German controlled press, recorded in the Danish underground publication "2 Years", which we translated, and which we have turned to on many an occasion to illustrate the parallells with the rhetoric coming from the modern-day "European Union".

Let us leaf to page 64, and read the newspaper clipping from January 17, 1943:

–––the German leadership decided to tap into the strategy of leaving large garrisons in hedgehog positions as far as possible and thus enabling German counter-attacks in the enemy’s flank and rear or against his lines of communication, plus they can possibly become significant starting bases for new German operations in the spring.

We are now waiting for the Fuhrer of the EU to come to the next stage of acceptance, reflected in the next clipping on the same page, dated January 29, 1943:

Any tendency to underestimate the Russians has now completely disappeared from the German press – it is recognised that the war is now being waged “between the powers of approximately equal strength”.

The last time Liverpool FC were in Paris was the champions league final against Madrid 3 years ago. A final marked with failure on and off the pitch. The fans suffered the brunt of police brutality and inadequate organisation.

At the time our comrade Rick wrote this short article about the final.

The champions league final is the very last game in a football fans diary and for those that are lucky enough to see their club at this tournament, let alone in the final, it is a dream come true. But last week, for thousands of travelling fans this dream turned into a nightmare, where the result became of secondary importance to leaving the Stade de France safely.

Anyone watching the final at home would have seen the delay at the start of the match, which was instantly blamed on the supporters (as the authorities often do. Liverpool fans know this all too well). In particular blame was put on ticketless supporters coming late and causing delays.

Despite this, plenty of testimonies show the vast majority of fans were there for 6 o’clock assembling along six narrow walkways. Scanners, which have replaced people and stewards are alleged to have failed to pick up all tickets correctly, falsely recognising some tickets as fake.

Liverpool left back and Scottish international Andy Robertson mentioned how one of his friends was accused of having a fake ticket to which he replied, “I know it wasn’t fake because I provided him with it.”

As these issues began to mount up at the stadium fans started to become crushed. Some fans anticipated the crush and began to climb out of the queue. Videos of this desperate situation were portrayed in the media as fans causing trouble and climbing in.

As things began to worsen, some attendees (apparently locals) tried to scale the fence to enter, and the French police waded in with their well-tested heavy-handed approach (ask Everton fans who went to Lille in 2015 or anyone who has been on a Yellow Vest protest in recent years) pepper-spraying indiscriminately as children, women, and older fans were attacked by the French police. This outright criminal act began again as soon as the fans left the stadium. One fan was reduced to tears as he called TalkSport to say that his nine year old son was crying and shaking uncontrollably as they tried to traverse the carnage being caused by the French police.

Amnesty International say tear gas should only be used in situations of violence to disperse a crowd, and when all other opportunities to contain the violence have failed: “not when they are in a confined space or where roads or other routes of escape are blocked”.

Stories from fans have filtered through as they have returned home.

Ex-Liverpool defender and tv pundit Jason McAteer spoke of how his wife was attacked, clothing pulled from her and robbed of her belongings by organised criminals. When her son chased them down to retrieve the belongings he was attacked. He was saved from a much worse assault by Real Madrid fans who stepped in. Proving to many that fan violence wasn’t a cause.

Testimony has come from many sources, including some that are impeccably respectable and in line with the ruling class on most social and political issues. West Derby MP Ian Byrne was in attendance and has spoken out about the failures, alongside Metro Mayor Steve Rotheram, who tweeted he was robbed at the gate, was “outraged” by the “chaotic scenes” he witnessed saying lessons “have to be learned… but I won’t hold my breath”.

Change of venue a disaster for fans

This grand event was planned to be held at the Gazprom Arena, St Petersburg, but due to the prevalent western Russophobia UEFA moved the event to the Stade de France, Paris. We are most definitely of the opinion that the safety of fans was not considered in this change of venue, only a following of the United States, EU and British ruling class interests.

A lot of people have come out in criticism of Liverpool FC because of those accusations over Hillsborough that have been aimed at the clubs’ fans in the past. All of which have been proved untrue and even changed the safety in clubs with the Taylor Report.

WPB Merseyside believe this wasn’t a case of club but of class violence. Football is a working-class sport and those in charge believe they can treat fans like cattle. There is no way that fans at Roland Garros or the Monaco Grand Prix would have been treated in such a way. Big business has already attempted to gentrify the sport and price workers out. The current behaviour of authorities demonstrates their attitudes towards dealing with working class crowds.

Liverpool could easily have lost that game by a few goals if wasn't for this man.

There's no doubt Alisson Becker is the best goalkeeper on the planet right now.

Cambridge University targeted by Palestine Action

In the early hours of this morning, a group of autonomous students took direct action at Cambridge University in solidarity with Palestine. The protest, carried out in collaboration with Palestine Action, involved painting the Old Schools building – the office that manages the University’s Endowment Fund – in blood-red paint.

This action follows a similar protest at Oxford University last week, as part of a growing wave of confrontational actions at the UK’s most prestigious universities. The activists demand full disclosure of the University’s investments and the immediate divestment from companies complicit in war crimes and the Israeli apartheid regime.

"Each life lost in Palestine is a human being with dreams, loved ones, and a future stolen. As long as the university continues to profit from violence, we will continue to take action in solidarity with Palestinians who endure daily oppression and destruction," said a spokesperson for the group.

The Cambridge action comes on the heels of the high court refusing to grant an injunction to the university an injunction banning protest, marking a moment of growing momentum against the University’s investments in the Israeli military-industrial complex. The group has vowed to escalate direct actions, targeting the university’s financial interests and reputation in their call for full divestment and accountability.

"Now is the time to act," the spokesperson continued. "The university must understand that its profits from war crimes will never outweigh the damage done to its reputation and bottom line."

Cambridge University boasts major research partnerships with Israeli institutes, while Trinity College at Cambridge is refusing to divest from Israel's largest weapons company, Elbit Systems, despite ongoing protests against its involvement in the US-Israel and Elbit genocide. This refusal follows prior actions, including the spraying of red paint on the Institute for Manufacturing in November, which supports many Israel-supplying arms firms, as well as similar protests at the historical Senate House building in June 2024.

Trinity College, which held $78,089 in Elbit shares as of the latest disclosures, has faced multiple actions, including the slashing of a portrait of Lord Balfour in March 2024. Despite misleading its students about its investments, Trinity continues to hold these shares

The Cambridge protest is part of an ongoing effort to hold institutions like Cambridge and Oxford accountable for their financial support of systems of violence and oppression. The call for divestment and solidarity with the Palestinian people grows louder, and the momentum for direct action continues to build. Last week, activists also targeted Oxford's Blavatnik School of Government, spraying "DROP ELBIT" in response to the university's refusal to divest from the Israeli arms giant.
