Shaykh Ibn al-Qayyim (رحمه الله) said:
[Madarij al-Salikeen]
“Were it not that Allah tests His slaves with trials, they would become arrogant, transgress and forget the purpose of life. But through trials, Allah nurtures their humility, patience, dependence on Him and sincerity.”
[Madarij al-Salikeen]
Anas ibn Malik reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever is concerned about the Hereafter, Allah will place richness in his heart, bring his affairs together, and the world will inevitably come to him. Whoever is concerned about the world, Allah will place poverty between his eyes, disorder his affairs, and he will get nothing of the world but what is decreed for him.”

Fear of Allah
Ibn Abi Mulaykah reported: I was sitting with Abdullah ibn Amr, may Allah be pleased with him, by the stone of the Ka’bah and he mentioned a prophetic tradition, then he said, “Weep! If you do not find yourself weeping, then feign weeping. By the one in whose hand is my soul, if you truly knew, one of you would cry out until his voice is
hoarse and pray until his back is broken.”
[al-Zuhd wal-Raqā’iq 1007]
Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani
