🇩🇰 🇬🇱 🇺🇸 Denmark's intelligence service lists the US as a threat in their annual report for the first time in history:

It also highlighted the US’s growing interest in Greenland, a territory of the Danish kingdom, as a result of heightened great-power rivalry in the Arctic.

The annual threat assessment of DDIS follows Donald Trump’s repeated suggestions he’d want to take control of Greenland, triggering diplomatic tensions between Copenhagen and Washington. The US president has also not ruled out taking the Arctic island using military force.

🇲🇽🇨🇳🇧🇷 — Mexico announces tariffs reaching 50% for China, Brazil and other countries

➡️ The Mexican Congress, controlled by President Sheinbaum's MORENA Party, approved a new package of tariffs reaching 50% on imports from Brazil, China, and other countries.

➡️ The minimum tariff under the new measure will be 35% on approximately 1,400 products from 12 countries with which Mexico does not have trade agreements. The Asian giant is the most affected.

➡️ According to President Claudia Sheinbaum, the policy has become a "necessity" to boost national production and should take effect in January 2026.

➡️ In addition to China and Brazil, other affected countries include South Korea, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, and Turkey. These tariffs will be applied to goods such as metals, cars, clothing, and appliances.

➡️ Beijing quickly expressed its disapproval of the measure, warning that Mexico must "correct its wrong practices of unilateralism and protectionism as soon as possible."

📝 Furthermore, the initiative comes at a time when Mexico is preparing for the review of the United States and Canada Free Trade Agreement (USMCA), scheduled for next year.

🇹🇷🇬🇷⚡️Greece – Turkey: The rift in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean resurfaces again!

Despite recent optimism expressed by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis about holding the Greece–Turkey Supreme Cooperation Council in early 2026, tensions have resurfaced following Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan’s speech in the Turkish National Assembly. Fidan reaffirmed Ankara’s revisionist positions on the Aegean, the Eastern Mediterranean, Cyprus, and the minority in Thrace, rejecting Athens’ stance that the sole dispute is the delimitation of maritime zones (EEZ and continental shelf).

Turkey’s long-standing claims spanning territorial waters, airspace, FIR, search and rescue zones, and island sovereignty, remain central to its agenda. Athens dismisses these as unacceptable, insisting dialogue must be limited to maritime delimitation. While both sides express willingness to continue talks, consultations have stalled since late 2024, with any upcoming meetings expected to focus narrowly on cooperation in areas like migration and civil protection.

Fidan also emphasized Cyprus, calling for greater recognition of the “Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus” and the lifting of embargoes, while Turkish media accused Greece, Cyprus, and Israel of encircling Ankara’s interests. He further raised the issue of the minority in Thrace, framing it as a matter of reciprocity with the Greek minority in Constantinople, an interpretation Athens rejects under the Treaty of Lausanne.

Although rhetoric remains sharp, the confrontation is unlikely to escalate significantly in the near term, given pending diplomatic initiatives and U.S. efforts to prevent new flashpoints in the region.
