🔶️ Ben Gvir and Smotrich’s continued influence, even from outside the war cabinet, was partly the reason for the resignation of war cabinet members Benny Gantz and Gadi Eisenkot last week. The two centrists said they joined the cabinet to ensure the war was conducted responsibly, but have since concluded they couldn’t work with Netanyahu as long as he refused to commit to a day-after strategy for Gaza.
🔶️ The departure came after a string of military leaders made rare public statements airing their grievances with Netanyahu’s handling of the war in Gaza, with many saying that Israel cannot afford to continue it indefinitely, especially with tensions escalating on the Lebanese border.
🔶️ Brig. Gen. Efraim Sneh, a former deputy minister of defense, said that Israel has achieved its military objectives of degrading the majority of Hamas capabilities and can afford to declare an end to the war in Gaza, get back the hostages, and redirect its focus to distancing Hezbollah forces from its northern border.
🔶️ “Israel is in an unacceptable situation, in which a big part of the country has been deserted,” he said. He added that, while “Israel’s forces are stretched thin between Gaza and the Lebanese border,” Netanyahu’s far-right coalition partners are exacerbating the situation by blocking hundreds of thousands of Palestinian day laborers from entering Israel and enacting punitive measures against the West Bank-based Palestinian Authority.
🔶️ The IDF is moving closer to a larger war with Hezbollah, Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, a spokesman for the Israeli military, said in a video message Sunday. Fighting between Israel and Hezbollah has intensified in recent weeks at the Lebanese border. “Hezbollah’s increasing aggression is bringing us to the brink of what could be a wider escalation — one that could have devastating consequences for Lebanon and the entire region,” Hagari said. After an Israeli strike killed a Hezbollah commander last week, a Hezbollah official said the militant group would retaliate with increased operations “in intensity, strength, quantity and quality.”

"The declining imperialism has never had such poor and ridiculous leadership as that exhibited by the G7 today. Rejected by their own people, they intend to resort to colonial practices and meddle in matters that do not concern them.
Our revolutionary democracy will once again tell them on July 28 that we are free and sovereign and that their lackeys [referring to the opposition grouped in the United Democratic Platform] will not return!"

🇺🇸 ❌️ 🇨🇳 DJI drone ban passes in U.S. House — 'Countering CCP Drones Act' would ban all DJI sales in U.S. if passed in Senate
🔶️ The "Countering CCP Drones Act" is part of the United States' 2025 National Defense Authorization Act (FY25 NDAA), a major piece of yearly legislation allotting defense spending for the coming year.
🔶️ Drone maker DJI is based in China and controls over 70% of the world's drone market share, a combination that threatens U.S. lawmakers. As we first reported in April, 6% of DJI stock lies in the hands of Chinese state-owned businesses, which has led to fears of Chinese government backdoors, national security risks, and other fears of Chinese surveillance using the company's drones. And of course, there lies the more real concern for U.S. lawmakers that DJI's success would continue to strengthen the Chinese economy.
🔶️ While not as direct an attack on China as some moves associated with the U.S.-China trade war over semiconductors, the DJI ban would follow a tradition of tariffs and bans against successful Chinese companies in the U.S. Most bans affect the most commercially successful companies and entities from operation in the U.S., though lawmakers claim the goal is safety rather than a trade conflict. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken recently argued, "What we're focused on is only the most sensitive technology that could pose a threat to our security. We're not focused on cutting off trade, or for that matter containing or holding back China."

SEBIN detained two other young people from Vente, when they were leaving the María Corina commando
The regime of Nicolás Maduro intensifies the persecution against opposition activists. This Monday he arbitrarily detained two young people from the Vente Venezuela (VV) party when they were leaving the headquarters of the national command of the opposition leader, María Corina Machado, in Chacao.
The new victims are Ismael Gabriel González, a member of Machado's press team, and Javier Cisneros, national coordinator of Vente Joven.
Vente Venezuela reported that the young people were arrested by members of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service (SEBIN) and that they are in a situation of forced disappearance.
With these two new victims, there are five activists detained by the Maduro regime in the last 72 hours, after the arrest last Friday of three opposition leaders in Vargas state.

"This is cruelty. They are Venezuelans who are giving everything to see their country with freedom and dignity. It is criminal, pure evil, and it shows that the regime has nothing left but violence against citizens.
But instead of paralyzing or intimidating a country, what I see in Venezuela every day is that these abuses give us more reasons to fight and organize for July 28. My solidarity goes out to Jean Carlos, Luis, Juan, and their families."

"These young people are being linked to a case in which they are accused of inciting hatred and criminal association simply for supporting our candidate. [...] Some of the detainees have been denied the right to have private lawyers, in which case public defenders ask anti-Chavistas to blame Machado for violent plans as a condition for their release."

🥑 🇺🇸 🇲🇽 USDA suspends avocado inspections in Mexican state over security fears
🔶️ The USDA’s avocado inspections in Michoacan are suspended until security issues are resolved, the AP reported. Mexico makes up 89 percent of U.S. avocado imports.
🔶️ Mexico is the world’s largest producer of avocados — a staple in the diets of many Americans who love it on their toast, or made into guacamole, particularly during the Super Bowl. The United States imported a record 2.78 billion pounds of fresh avocados in 2023, with 89 percent of those imports coming from Mexico, according to the USDA.
🔶️ The State Department warns against travel to Michoacan “due to crime and kidnapping” — the same level of travel warning for five other Mexican states, including Sinaloa and Zacatecas.
