🇨🇦 Trudeau announces reduction in temporary foreign workers, suggests more immigration changes to come

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced Monday the federal government will reduce the number of temporary foreign workers in Canada after a historic surge that some experts say has fuelled unemployment among immigrants and young people.

The government loosened restrictions during a severe post-COVID labour shortage — a decision that led, in particular, to a spike in the number of low-wage temporary workers.

Trudeau said employers in high unemployment areas — places where the unemployment rate is six per cent or higher — will not be able to hire low-wage temporary foreign workers (TFWs), with limited exceptions for "food security sectors" like agriculture and food and fish processing as well as construction and health care where acute staffing shortages still exist.

In another reversal, the government said employers will no longer be allowed to hire more than 10 per cent of their total workforce through the TFW program.

As well, low-wage TFWs will also be limited to one-year contracts, down from the current two.

📝 Maxime Bernier: Trudeau finally stops listening to his corporate sponsors that demand cheap labour and begins imposing minor restrictions on immigration. All it took was a massive replacement of the White Canadian population and the unemployment graph to rise to an unacceptable figure to do it. Trudeau and the fake conservative, Poilievre who smeared people for speaking out against immigration, will always choose their interests and those of their sponsors and back down when the problem becomes impossible to ignore.

🇮🇳 India Emerges as the World's Leading LNG Buyer

In June 2024, India imported 2.612 million tons of LNG, marking a 45% increase from the 1.796 million tons imported in June 2023, according to the country's Ministry of Industry and Commerce.

This figure represents one of the highest levels in the national trade statistics. The historical peak occurred in February 2020, with 2.672 million tons, driven by an unusual surplus of LNG in the market and a sharp decline in global prices during the pandemic.

India also imported a similar volume of LNG in May 2024, totaling 2.654 million tons.

The surge in imports was largely due to unusually hot weather in the region. May and June saw temperatures significantly exceed the seasonal norm. However, by July, temperatures in the country began to normalize.

As a result, India was the most active LNG buyer in the region in June, outpacing South Korea's more moderate increase in activity (+17%) and China's stable purchases (+1%). In contrast, Europe reduced its LNG imports by one-third.

The United States became the largest LNG supplier to India in June, accounting for 29% of all deliveries and increasing shipments 3.5 times to 752,000 tons. Qatar was the second-largest supplier, contributing a quarter of the supplies (403,000 tons).

🇳🇮🇧🇷🇨🇴🌹 Daniel Ortega, the leader of the dictatorial regime in Nicaragua, criticized the behavior of Brazil and Colombia regarding the elections in Venezuela, calling it shameful: "They repeat the slogans of the Yankees, the Europeans, and the dragged-along governments of Latin America"

💥 The dictator stated that the governments that do not recognize the official result of the elections in Venezuela are servile and submissive, directly mentioning Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a prominent figure of the Latin American left.

"You are crawling too, Lula, you are crawling! If you want me to respect you, respect me, Lula, if you want the Bolivarian people to respect you, respect President Nicolás Maduro's victory and don't go around crawling.

Servile, traitorous, crawling governments, governments that presented themselves as very progressive, very revolutionary, now say the elections must be repeated. Brazil says it, Lula. [...] We don't need intermediaries, nor did we ask Lula to be an intermediary, so we didn't respond to Lula, and then he got upset."

🇳🇮🇻🇪🇻🇪💥🇧🇷🇨🇴Daniel Ortega, leader of the dictatorial regime in Nicaragua, offered Sandinista fighters to Nicolás Maduro for a potential war

🪖 Ortega suggested that these disagreements over the Venezuelan elections could lead to a war with Brazil and Colombia. He advised Nicolás Maduro to be prepared and offered Sandinista fighters for that conflict.

"Don't rule out the possibility that they will organize an armed counterrevolution like the one they organized for us in 1979-80, after the triumph of the Revolution, which they financed, armed, and trained, supported by the U.S. military bases in Honduras. It was a long battle, 10 years of war that we had to fight, with thousands of deaths, more than 50,000.

Nicolás, you must prepare to fight and defeat them. I'm sure that if that battle takes place, they will be defeated, and rest assured that if it happens, you will have Sandinista fighters alongside you."

🤝 The extraordinary meeting was specifically held to support the official election results in Venezuela. Ortega was accompanied in person by his wife and co-governor, Rosario Murillo, as is customary; also present were the Venezuelan ambassador to Nicaragua, José Arrúe; the head of political affairs at that embassy, Ansonith Albano; and Valdrack Ludwing Jaentschke Whitaker, an advisor on policy and international affairs.

🌐🇺🇸 — Via an official statement, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg and META leadership admitted that Biden-Harris admin pressured company to censor American, particularly regarding COVID-19 content and Hunter Biden's Laptop

➡️ On August 26, 2024 AD, Zuckerberg made the admission in a letter to House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, more than a year after providing the committee with thousands of documents as part of its investigation into content moderation on online platforms.

➡️ Along with documents, the Meta CEO said, the company has provided a dozen employees to be available for transcribed interviews, stressing Meta’s cooperation with the investigation.

"There’s a lot of talk right now around how the U.S. government interacts with companies like Meta, and I want to be clear about our position," Zuckerberg wrote. "Our platforms are for everyone – we’re about promoting speech and helping people connect in a safe and secure way. As part of this, we regularly hear from governments around the world and others with various concerns around public discourse and public safety."

➡️ He told Jordan that in 2021, "senior officials" from the Biden administration and White House "repeatedly pressured our teams for months to censor certain COVID-19 content, including humor and satire."

🇺🇾⚠️🇻🇪💥 — The Uruguayan Minister of the Interior, Nicolás Martinelli, has put the country on high alert due to the possible arrival of the Venezuelan criminal group Tren de Aragua and the growing use of the dangerous drug fentanyl

❗️ During the Latin American Security Summit in Guayaquil, Martinelli emphasized the need for the government to face these challenges with determination, although the presence of this organization in Uruguay has not yet been confirmed.

☠️ The Tren de Aragua, one of the most dangerous gangs in the region, is known for its brutality and networks in human trafficking, kidnapping, and drug trafficking. Additionally, the recent detection of fentanyl in the country has raised alarms among Uruguayan authorities, who warn of the devastating risk this drug poses to society.
