City of Buenos Aires, February 14, 2025.- The Office of the President informs that President Javier Milei has decreed the beginning of the privatization process of CORREDORES VIALES S.A., a public company responsible for managing infrastructure and traffic on roads and highways.

Despite the fact that in Argentina there are roads and highways managed by the private sector, previous governments insisted on maintaining this deficit-ridden state-owned company, which cost our country approximately 301 billion pesos in 2023 alone.

Surveys conducted by this Government have determined that there are 3,400 km of roadways, representing 45% of the entire Argentine road network, which, under the management of this company, were not in optimal conditions for vehicular traffic.

This is clear evidence that state management of the road network does not work and that the State's role is not to manage highways. From now on, thanks to this process, it will be the concessionaire's responsibility to carry out the necessary works in order to obtain the right to charge tolls.

Since December 10, 2023, the entire National Public Administration has been focused on promoting a smaller State, whose sole role is to facilitate the private sector’s mobilization of infrastructure and the country's economic activity.
