Today I offer you a recent case where a married couple from the USA won a quota for a temporary residence permit in Russia from the first time!
Earlier this year, a married couple from the US approached me with a request for residency in Russia. Unfortunately, they had no direct grounds for obtaining a temporary residence permit or residence permit in Russia, but they had a great desire to live in Russia.
To complete the picture, I would like to point out that at the time of contacting our company, our clients were in Russia on a simple three-year tourist visa.
Yes, US citizens can get a tourist visa to Russia for 3 years!
Our clients did not consider the option of obtaining a residence permit through investments and therefore we suggested that they apply for a quota of temporary residence permit.*
*For those who do not know, the quota of temporary residence permit is an analogue of the green card system in the US.
That is, people who have no grounds for a temporary residence permit can apply to the migration authority.
If a special commission allocates them a quota, then they can apply for a temporary residence permit in Russia. You can apply repeatedly until you win the quota.
As a result, the quota was allocated to them from the first time🎉 🎉 🎉
After winning the quota, our clients decided to continue co-operation with us in terms of obtaining a temporary residence permit.
Our specialists analysed the documents and gave recommendations on how to collect the missing documents.
In this case, there were 2 things that delayed the application for a temporary residence permit:
1. Obtaining a criminal record certificate from the USA
According to our observations, it becomes a problem for US citizens who want to obtain this document. Many people, not finding a solution to obtain this document while in Russia, simply go back to the U.S. to obtain such a certificate. We would like to remind you that this certificate is valid for only 3 months! Take this into account if you are going to apply for a temporary residence permit or residence permit.
2. Passing exams
Our clients have shared their experience in preparing for the exams in detail. In total, it took them ~3 months for intensive preparation.

G7 reaching political agreement on use of Russian assets — Italian PM
Leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) reached a political agreement at their summit on the use of Russian assets for Ukraine, Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni said.
This refers to the use of revenues from invested Russian assets that are currently frozen for guarantees of loans to Kiev, Meloni noted. "We reached the political agreement on providing financial support to Ukraine in the amount of $50 bln until the end of the year through a system of loans. It is not the confiscation but [the use] of accumulated interest," she said.
The scheme should now be determined "from the technical point of view," she added.

The confiscation of Russian assets by the G7 countries could cost them almost $83 billion - that is how much of their investments have been made in the Russian economy, RIA Novosti calculated based on data from national statistical services.
According to the agency’s calculations, the volume of direct investment in the Russian economy of G7 members at the end of 2022 (there are no more recent data at the moment) amounted to $82.8 billion.
The largest investor in the Russian economy was Britain - according to the latest available data, the size of assets was estimated at $18.9 billion. Next come Germany (17.3 billion), France (16.6 billion) and Italy ($12.9 billion). Investments by American investors in the Russian economy amounted to $9.6 billion, Japanese - 4.6 billion, and Canadian - 2.9 billion.
