Israel says it is retaliating against Syria.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it was carrying out retaliatory strikes in Syria.

"Following an initial report of sirens in the communities of Avnei Eitan and Alma, IDF artillery is now targeting the source of the shooting in Syria," the ministry said.

The IDF added that two rockets launched from Syrian territory towards Israel landed in open areas.
Last Thursday, Syrian media reported that the Israeli Air Force carried out airstrikes on the runways of Damascus and Aleppo airports , both air harbors suspended operations. IDF spokesman Richard Hecht noted that the Jewish state fears possible attacks by Palestinian groups from Lebanon or Syria. The Russian Foreign Ministry called the actions of the Israeli military a gross violation of the sovereignty of the Arab Republic and the basic norms of international law.

Aleppo International Airport was put out of action after an Israeli strike, RIA Novosti reported, citing the Syrian Ministry of Defense.

Before this, the Sky News Arabia channel suffered damage to the runway. There were no reports of casualties.
