Kiev’s forces have reportedly been using components salvaged from Moscow’s suicide UAVs
The Ukrainian military is using electronic components salvaged from Russian Geran-2 loitering munitions to assemble their own suicide drones, the online outlet Mash reported on Saturday.
The outlet circulated imagery of a Ukrainian homebuilt suicide drone, apparently containing a navigation module from a Geran-2 (Geranium-2). The large crude-looking UAV, which features two prop motors, was intercepted by Russian forces. It was not immediately clear whether the drone was shot down or forced to land through electronic warfare means.
The re-purposed navigation component used in the Ukrainian drone was identified by the outlet as a Kometa (Comet) module that is utilized in Geran-2 drones. The module is said to be located in the wing section of the Russian loitering munition and usually survives impact. The Kometa is said to use the Russian satellite navigation system GLONASS for setting the course of the drone.

Syrian authorities: Damascus and Aleppo airports disabled due to Israeli attack.

The Syrian state agency SANA , citing the country's army, reports that as a result of the Israeli attack, the airports of Damascus and Aleppo were disabled. The strikes on airports, according to the publication, were carried out on the night of October 22.

“At approximately 05:25, the Israeli enemy simultaneously carried out air aggression with salvos of missiles from the Mediterranean Sea west of Latakia and from the occupied Syrian Golan, striking Damascus and Aleppo international airports. Physical damage to the runways of two airports led to their inoperability,” the agency writes

As SANA notes, according to preliminary data, as a result of the Israeli attack, one of the Damascus airport workers was killed and another employee was wounded.

The Syrian Ministry of Transport called the attack on the airports of Damascus and Aleppo “blatant aggression.” At the moment, all flights from and to Damascus and Aleppo have been canceled and transferred to Latakia airport. The timing of the restoration of airport operations has not yet been specified.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not yet commented on the attack on Syrian airports.

🇷🇺🇮🇷Russia and Iran are plotting a course to cut trade tariffs down to zero by early 2024, Iran-Russia Joint Chamber of Commerce member Kambiz Mirkarimi has indicated.

Speaking to local media on Sunday, Mirkarimi said that he expects outstanding customs, tariffs, and competitive market issues between Iran, Russia, and other members of the Eurasian Economic Union to be settled before the end of the current Iranian calendar year (March 20, 2024).

Mirkarimi’s comments add weight to Belarusian media reports from Saturday that Iran and the EEU (whose members include Russia, Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan) plan to sign a new free trade agreement by the end of the year, with draft work on the pact said to be complete and ready for signature.

The new free trade pact will replace an interim agreement forged in 2019, which expired last year but was renewed until a new agreement could be signed.
