Egocentrism as a Natural and Positive Trait:
As a natural being, humans always pay attention to their own interests, and this trait exists not only in humans but in all living creatures. Egocentrism can be defined as a focus on personal interests, but this focus does not mean ignoring the interests of others. In the natural cycle of life, every being sees its survival dependent on interaction with others. As the poet says:
"My existence depends on his being
As long as I live, I will cherish him."

This line reflects the reality that creatures live in an interconnected chain, where the acquisition and distribution of benefits depend on one another.

خودخواهی: زیاده‌خواهی بدون اخلاق
در مقابل، #خودخواهی به معنای تمرکز صرف بر منافع فردی بدون در نظر گرفتن نیازها و منافع دیگران است. در این حالت، فرد تنها به خود و منافعش توجه دارد، بدون اینکه به پیامدهای منفی آن برای جامعه و محیط توجه کند. این ویژگی نه تنها به زیان دیگران بلکه در نهایت به زیان خود فرد نیز تمام می‌شود، زیرا انسان‌ها و موجودات در یک سیستم پیچیده و متصل به هم زندگی می‌کنند و آسیب به این سیستم به‌تدریج منافع فردی را نیز تحت تأثیر قرار می‌دهد.

خودمحوری اخلاق‌مدارانه و هم‌زیستی:
#خودمحوری_اخلاق‌مدارانه به معنای درک این واقعیت است که منافع فردی در گرو همکاری با دیگران و محیط اطراف است. همان‌طور که در زنجیره اکوسیستم، هر موجودی بقاء خود را در تعامل با دیگر موجودات می‌بیند، انسان نیز برای پیشرفت و بقای خود نیازمند همکاری و تعامل با دیگران است. این تعامل منجر به خلق جوامع پایدارتر و رشد اجتماعی می‌شود. در این نوع خودمحوری، فرد نه تنها به منافع شخصی خود توجه دارد بلکه منافع دیگران را نیز در نظر می‌گیرد.

Selfishness: Excess Without Ethics
In contrast, #selfishness refers to focusing solely on personal interests without considering the needs and interests of others. In this case, the individual only pays attention to themselves and their own benefits, without regard for the negative consequences on society and the environment. This trait not only harms others but ultimately harms the individual as well, because humans and creatures live in a complex, interconnected system, and damaging this system eventually affects personal interests too.

Ethical Egocentrism and Coexistence:
#Ethical_Egocentrism means understanding the fact that individual interests are tied to cooperation with others and the surrounding environment. Just as in the ecosystem chain, every creature sees its survival in interaction with others, humans also need collaboration and interaction with others for their progress and survival. This interaction leads to the creation of more sustainable societies and social growth. In this kind of egocentrism, the individual not only considers their own interests but also takes into account the interests of others.

The Contrast Between Egocentrism and Selfishness in Human History:
If we look at human history, we see two different paths humanity has taken. The first path is aligned with the laws of nature and has led to knowledge, social progress, and ethical philosophies. On this path, humanity has realized that preserving the interests of others means preserving one's own interests. As Saadi also says:
“Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
When one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.”

The second path, however, is based on fantasies and misconceptions. These beliefs, stemming from #superstitions and #pseudo_science, have distanced humanity from alignment with nature and the realities of existence. In this type of thinking, humans see themselves as the center and axis of existence, leading to #selfishness and #anthropocentrism. For example, anthropocentric views and the belief that humans are the pinnacle of creation have led to various forms of discrimination, from #patriarchy to #racism and other social inequalities.

The Renaissance: A Big Bang in Human Thought
With the accumulation of external pressures, the barrier of #selfishness and #anthropocentrism in Europe was broken, leading to the #Renaissance. This era was like a new “big bang” in the human mind, freeing itself from selfish constraints and achieving remarkable scientific and philosophical advancements in the past two centuries. This intellectual revolution, due to the increased importance of #ethical_egocentrism, directed humanity towards unity with nature and other people.

Conclusion: The Direction of Human Perspective
The fundamental difference between #egocentrism and #selfishness lies in the direction of human perspective. Ethical egocentrism means looking outward and striving for coexistence and cooperation, whereas selfishness has a limited, inward perspective that places individual interests at the expense of society and nature. Social and environmental sustainability is only possible by expanding the reach of this ethical perspective.

Challenges in Iran: Lack of Ethics in the Dominant Culture
Many intellectuals and social activists in Iran consider the country’s problems to be primarily political or economic. However, from the author’s viewpoint, the root cause of these problems is the lack of ethics. A culture that has, over the centuries, turned to #superstitions and #anthropocentrism instead of focusing on ethics and wisdom has created the current situation. Knowledge exists within Iranian society, but what is severely lacking is adherence to ethics.
Ethics, consisting of principles such as #equality, #freedom, #justice, #human_dignity, and #compassion, must be applied in all areas of social life, without discrimination. True understanding of wisdom, meaning a combination of knowledge and ethics, can ensure the happiness and survival of society. In the absence of these factors, our culture has developed problems that have pulled us back instead of moving forward.

تضاد بین خودمحوری و خودخواهی در تاریخ بشری:
اگر به تاریخ بشریت نگاه کنیم، می‌بینیم که دو مسیر متفاوت در پیش روی انسان بوده است. مسیر اول، مسیری است که با قوانین طبیعت همخوانی دارد و به دانش، پیشرفت اجتماعی، و فلسفه‌های اخلاق‌محور منجر شده است. در این مسیر، انسان دریافته است که حفظ منافع دیگران به معنای حفظ منافع خود است. چنان‌که سعدی نیز می‌گوید:
«بنی آدم اعضای یک پیکرند
که در آفرینش ز یک گوهرند
چو عضوی به درد آورد روزگار
دگر عضوها را نماند قرار»

مسیر دوم اما، مبتنی بر خیال‌پردازی‌ها و باورهای نادرست است. این باورها، که از #خرافات و #شبه‌علم نشأت گرفته‌اند، انسان را از همخوانی با طبیعت و واقعیت‌های جهان هستی دور کرده‌اند. در این نوع تفکر، انسان خود را مرکز و محور هستی می‌داند و این نگرش به #خودخواهی و #انسان‌محوری منجر می‌شود. به عنوان مثال، نگرش‌های انسان‌محورانه و باور به اینکه انسان اشرف مخلوقات است، باعث ایجاد تبعیض‌های مختلف، از #مردسالاری گرفته تا #نژادپرستی و تبعیضات دیگر در جامعه شده است.

رنسانس: مهبانگی در اندیشه بشری
با انباشته شدن فشارهای برون‌نگری بشری، سد #خودخواهی و #انسان‌محوری در اروپا شکسته شد و به #رنسانس منجر شد. این دوره، مانند یک «مهبانگ» جدید در ذهن انسان بود که با رهایی از قیود خودخواهانه، توانست در دو قرن اخیر به پیشرفت‌های شگرف علمی و فلسفی دست یابد. این انقلاب فکری به دلیل افزایش اهمیت #خودمحوری_اخلاق‌مدارانه، انسان را به سمت همبستگی با جهان طبیعت و سایر انسان‌ها سوق داد.

نتیجه‌گیری: سمت و سوی نگرش انسان
تفاوت اساسی بین #خودمحوری و #خودخواهی در جهت‌گیری نگرش انسان نهفته است. خودمحوری اخلاق‌مدارانه به معنای نگاه به بیرون و تلاش برای همزیستی و همکاری است، در حالی که خودخواهی نگاهی محدود و درونی دارد که منافع فردی را به ضرر جامعه و طبیعت قرار می‌دهد. پایداری اجتماعی و محیطی تنها با گسترش شعاع این نگرش اخلاقی امکان‌پذیر است.

چالش‌های ایران: نبود اخلاق در فرهنگ حاکم
بسیاری از روشنفکران و فعالان اجتماعی ایران، مشکلات کشور را عمدتاً سیاسی یا اقتصادی می‌دانند. اما از دیدگاه نگارنده، ریشه اصلی مشکلات در فقدان اخلاق است. فرهنگی که طی قرون گذشته به جای توجه به اخلاق و خرد، به خرافات و انسان‌محوری روی آورده، باعث شکل‌گیری وضع کنونی شده است. دانش در جامعه ایرانی وجود دارد، اما آنچه که کمبود آن به شدت احساس می‌شود، پایبندی به اخلاق است.
اخلاق، که از اصولی مانند #برابری، #آزادی، #عدالت، #حرمت_انسانی و #محبت تشکیل شده است، باید در همه حوزه‌های زندگی اجتماعی، بدون تبعیض، اعمال شود. درک واقعی خرد به معنای ترکیبی از دانش و اخلاق است که می‌تواند ضامن سعادت و بقای جامعه باشد. در غیاب این عوامل، فرهنگ ما دچار بیماری‌هایی شده که به جای پیشرفت، ما را به عقب کشانده است.

عشق کجاست؟
صحبتی داشتم با دوستی که می‌گفت به دنبال عشق است. به او گفتم ما همه در جستجوی #عشق هستیم. گفتم همه ما به دنبال عشق هستیم اما گاهی ناامید می‌شویم و از #استانداردهای خود پایین می‌آییم.
وقتی از استانداردهای خود پایین بیاییم، به #سکس راضی می‌شویم. یا به #لذت راضی می‌شویم. یا به #ثروت راضی می‌شویم.

گفت: «تو راست نمی‌گویی، چرا خودت دنبال #رابطه هستی؟»
به او گفتم: «عشقی که من از آن صحبت می‌کنم در رابطه نیست. یعنی گشتن به دنبال عشق در رابطه، ره به بیابان است و آنجا عشق پیدا نمی‌شود.»

به تجربیات دوستم در #وحدت و #کمک به دیگران و اینکه دیگری در واقع خود ماست اشاره کردم و صحبت تمام شد.

Where is Love?
I was talking with a friend who said they were searching for #love. I said, "We are all searching for love." I told them that all of us are in pursuit of love, but sometimes we become discouraged and lower our #standards.
When we lower our standards, we settle for #sex, for #pleasure, or for #wealth.

My friend responded, "You’re not being truthful, so why are you searching for a #relationship?"
I told them, "The love I’m talking about is not found in relationships. Searching for love in relationships leads to the desert, and love is not found there."
I referred to my friend's experiences of #unity and #helping others and said that others are, in fact, a reflection of ourselves. The conversation ended there.
But here, I can write more. Here, I have the freedom of words.

عشق چیست؟
عشق فراتر از احساسات است. عشق یک #انتخاب است. انتخابی برای مشاهده زیبایی‌ها و #نور در وجود خود و دیگران. گاهی اوقات در دنیای شلوغ و پیچیده، ما فراموش می‌کنیم که عشق در سادگی‌ها و لحظات کوچک زندگی پنهان شده است.

بسیاری از ما به دنبال عشق در روابط پیچیده می‌گردیم، در حالی که عشق در #دوستی، #همدلی، و #صمیمیت با خود و دیگران است. عشق از صداقت و ارتباط عمیق با دیگران ناشی می‌شود، نه از توقعات و خواسته‌های سطحی.

سؤال اصلی این است: آیا می‌توانیم از خود بپرسیم که چقدر از وجود خود را به عشق اختصاص داده‌ایم؟ عشق به معنای بودن در لحظه و احترام به آنچه داریم است. عشق هیچ‌گاه از بین نمی‌رود، بلکه ما باید یاد بگیریم چگونه آن را در زندگی خود تجربه کنیم.

همه ما دنبال یه چیزیم که بهمون انگیزه بده. چیزی که دلیل بیدار شدن صبح‌هامون باشه. در فرهنگ ژاپنی، به این مفهوم میگن IKIGAI. معنی کلمه‌ای این واژه میشه “دلیلی برای بودن”. حالا توی فصل اول کتاب IKIGAI، نویسنده‌ها قدم‌به‌قدم به ما توضیح میدن که چطور این مفهوم با کمک چهار سوال کلیدی تعریف میشه و هر کدوم چطور به یکی از جنبه‌های مهم زندگی پیوند می‌خوره.

حالا بیایید این چهار سوال رو بررسی کنیم:

1. چی رو دوست داری؟ (What you love)
اینجا صحبت از عشق و اشتیاق به کاریه که واقعاً ازش لذت می‌بری. این همون چیزیه که وقتی مشغول انجام دادنش هستی، زمان رو فراموش می‌کنی.

4. دنیا به چی نیاز داره؟ (What the world needs)
این بخش می‌پرسه چطور می‌تونی از عشق و مهارت‌هات برای کمک به جامعه و پاسخ به نیازهای جهانی استفاده کنی.

حالا وقتی این چهار سوال با هم ترکیب بشن، به نتایج جالبی می‌رسیم:

• چی رو دوست داری و در چی مهارت داری ترکیب بشن، نتیجه میشه Passion (اشتیاق).

در مرکز این چهار دایره، اون نقطه مشترک که همه این موارد رو به هم پیوند می‌ده، همون IKIGAI ـه. جایی که اشتیاق، حرفه، شغل و رسالت به هم می‌رسن.
