The Contrast Between Egocentrism and Selfishness in Human History:
If we look at human history, we see two different paths humanity has taken. The first path is aligned with the laws of nature and has led to knowledge, social progress, and ethical philosophies. On this path, humanity has realized that preserving the interests of others means preserving one's own interests. As Saadi also says:
“Human beings are members of a whole,
In creation of one essence and soul.
When one member is afflicted with pain,
Other members uneasy will remain.”
The second path, however, is based on fantasies and misconceptions. These beliefs, stemming from #superstitions and #pseudo_science, have distanced humanity from alignment with nature and the realities of existence. In this type of thinking, humans see themselves as the center and axis of existence, leading to #selfishness and #anthropocentrism. For example, anthropocentric views and the belief that humans are the pinnacle of creation have led to various forms of discrimination, from #patriarchy to #racism and other social inequalities.
The Renaissance: A Big Bang in Human Thought
With the accumulation of external pressures, the barrier of #selfishness and #anthropocentrism in Europe was broken, leading to the #Renaissance. This era was like a new “big bang” in the human mind, freeing itself from selfish constraints and achieving remarkable scientific and philosophical advancements in the past two centuries. This intellectual revolution, due to the increased importance of #ethical_egocentrism, directed humanity towards unity with nature and other people.
Conclusion: The Direction of Human Perspective
The fundamental difference between #egocentrism and #selfishness lies in the direction of human perspective. Ethical egocentrism means looking outward and striving for coexistence and cooperation, whereas selfishness has a limited, inward perspective that places individual interests at the expense of society and nature. Social and environmental sustainability is only possible by expanding the reach of this ethical perspective.
Challenges in Iran: Lack of Ethics in the Dominant Culture
Many intellectuals and social activists in Iran consider the country’s problems to be primarily political or economic. However, from the author’s viewpoint, the root cause of these problems is the lack of ethics. A culture that has, over the centuries, turned to #superstitions and #anthropocentrism instead of focusing on ethics and wisdom has created the current situation. Knowledge exists within Iranian society, but what is severely lacking is adherence to ethics.
Ethics, consisting of principles such as #equality, #freedom, #justice, #human_dignity, and #compassion, must be applied in all areas of social life, without discrimination. True understanding of wisdom, meaning a combination of knowledge and ethics, can ensure the happiness and survival of society. In the absence of these factors, our culture has developed problems that have pulled us back instead of moving forward.

تفاوت خودمحوری و خودخواهی: نگرشی اخلاقمدار و فلسفی

تضاد بین خودمحوری و خودخواهی در تاریخ بشری:
اگر به تاریخ بشریت نگاه کنیم، میبینیم که دو مسیر متفاوت در پیش روی انسان بوده است. مسیر اول، مسیری است که با قوانین طبیعت همخوانی دارد و به دانش، پیشرفت اجتماعی، و فلسفههای اخلاقمحور منجر شده است. در این مسیر، انسان دریافته است که حفظ منافع دیگران به معنای حفظ منافع خود است. چنانکه سعدی نیز میگوید:
«بنی آدم اعضای یک پیکرند
که در آفرینش ز یک گوهرند
چو عضوی به درد آورد روزگار
دگر عضوها را نماند قرار»
مسیر دوم اما، مبتنی بر خیالپردازیها و باورهای نادرست است. این باورها، که از #خرافات و #شبهعلم نشأت گرفتهاند، انسان را از همخوانی با طبیعت و واقعیتهای جهان هستی دور کردهاند. در این نوع تفکر، انسان خود را مرکز و محور هستی میداند و این نگرش به #خودخواهی و #انسانمحوری منجر میشود. به عنوان مثال، نگرشهای انسانمحورانه و باور به اینکه انسان اشرف مخلوقات است، باعث ایجاد تبعیضهای مختلف، از #مردسالاری گرفته تا #نژادپرستی و تبعیضات دیگر در جامعه شده است.
رنسانس: مهبانگی در اندیشه بشری
با انباشته شدن فشارهای بروننگری بشری، سد #خودخواهی و #انسانمحوری در اروپا شکسته شد و به #رنسانس منجر شد. این دوره، مانند یک «مهبانگ» جدید در ذهن انسان بود که با رهایی از قیود خودخواهانه، توانست در دو قرن اخیر به پیشرفتهای شگرف علمی و فلسفی دست یابد. این انقلاب فکری به دلیل افزایش اهمیت #خودمحوری_اخلاقمدارانه، انسان را به سمت همبستگی با جهان طبیعت و سایر انسانها سوق داد.
نتیجهگیری: سمت و سوی نگرش انسان
تفاوت اساسی بین #خودمحوری و #خودخواهی در جهتگیری نگرش انسان نهفته است. خودمحوری اخلاقمدارانه به معنای نگاه به بیرون و تلاش برای همزیستی و همکاری است، در حالی که خودخواهی نگاهی محدود و درونی دارد که منافع فردی را به ضرر جامعه و طبیعت قرار میدهد. پایداری اجتماعی و محیطی تنها با گسترش شعاع این نگرش اخلاقی امکانپذیر است.
چالشهای ایران: نبود اخلاق در فرهنگ حاکم
بسیاری از روشنفکران و فعالان اجتماعی ایران، مشکلات کشور را عمدتاً سیاسی یا اقتصادی میدانند. اما از دیدگاه نگارنده، ریشه اصلی مشکلات در فقدان اخلاق است. فرهنگی که طی قرون گذشته به جای توجه به اخلاق و خرد، به خرافات و انسانمحوری روی آورده، باعث شکلگیری وضع کنونی شده است. دانش در جامعه ایرانی وجود دارد، اما آنچه که کمبود آن به شدت احساس میشود، پایبندی به اخلاق است.
اخلاق، که از اصولی مانند #برابری، #آزادی، #عدالت، #حرمت_انسانی و #محبت تشکیل شده است، باید در همه حوزههای زندگی اجتماعی، بدون تبعیض، اعمال شود. درک واقعی خرد به معنای ترکیبی از دانش و اخلاق است که میتواند ضامن سعادت و بقای جامعه باشد. در غیاب این عوامل، فرهنگ ما دچار بیماریهایی شده که به جای پیشرفت، ما را به عقب کشانده است.

عشق کجاست؟
صحبتی داشتم با دوستی که میگفت به دنبال عشق است. به او گفتم ما همه در جستجوی #عشق هستیم. گفتم همه ما به دنبال عشق هستیم اما گاهی ناامید میشویم و از #استانداردهای خود پایین میآییم.
وقتی از استانداردهای خود پایین بیاییم، به #سکس راضی میشویم. یا به #لذت راضی میشویم. یا به #ثروت راضی میشویم.
گفت: «تو راست نمیگویی، چرا خودت دنبال #رابطه هستی؟»
به او گفتم: «عشقی که من از آن صحبت میکنم در رابطه نیست. یعنی گشتن به دنبال عشق در رابطه، ره به بیابان است و آنجا عشق پیدا نمیشود.»
به تجربیات دوستم در #وحدت و #کمک به دیگران و اینکه دیگری در واقع خود ماست اشاره کردم و صحبت تمام شد.

Where is Love?
I was talking with a friend who said they were searching for #love. I said, "We are all searching for love." I told them that all of us are in pursuit of love, but sometimes we become discouraged and lower our #standards.
When we lower our standards, we settle for #sex, for #pleasure, or for #wealth.
My friend responded, "You’re not being truthful, so why are you searching for a #relationship?"
I told them, "The love I’m talking about is not found in relationships. Searching for love in relationships leads to the desert, and love is not found there."
I referred to my friend's experiences of #unity and #helping others and said that others are, in fact, a reflection of ourselves. The conversation ended there.
But here, I can write more. Here, I have the freedom of words.

Where is Love?

عشق چیست؟
عشق فراتر از احساسات است. عشق یک #انتخاب است. انتخابی برای مشاهده زیباییها و #نور در وجود خود و دیگران. گاهی اوقات در دنیای شلوغ و پیچیده، ما فراموش میکنیم که عشق در سادگیها و لحظات کوچک زندگی پنهان شده است.
بسیاری از ما به دنبال عشق در روابط پیچیده میگردیم، در حالی که عشق در #دوستی، #همدلی، و #صمیمیت با خود و دیگران است. عشق از صداقت و ارتباط عمیق با دیگران ناشی میشود، نه از توقعات و خواستههای سطحی.
سؤال اصلی این است: آیا میتوانیم از خود بپرسیم که چقدر از وجود خود را به عشق اختصاص دادهایم؟ عشق به معنای بودن در لحظه و احترام به آنچه داریم است. عشق هیچگاه از بین نمیرود، بلکه ما باید یاد بگیریم چگونه آن را در زندگی خود تجربه کنیم.

What is Love?
Love transcends feelings. Love is a #choice. A choice to see the beauty and #light within ourselves and others. Sometimes, in this chaotic and complex world, we forget that love is hidden in the simplicities and small moments of life.
Many of us search for love in complicated relationships, while love is found in #friendship, #empathy, and #intimacy with ourselves and others. Love arises from honesty and deep connection with others, not from superficial expectations and desires.
The fundamental question is: can we ask ourselves how much of our existence we dedicate to love? Love means being present in the moment and respecting what we have. Love never disappears; rather, we must learn how to experience it in our lives.

همه ما دنبال یه چیزیم که بهمون انگیزه بده. چیزی که دلیل بیدار شدن صبحهامون باشه. در فرهنگ ژاپنی، به این مفهوم میگن IKIGAI. معنی کلمهای این واژه میشه “دلیلی برای بودن”. حالا توی فصل اول کتاب IKIGAI، نویسندهها قدمبهقدم به ما توضیح میدن که چطور این مفهوم با کمک چهار سوال کلیدی تعریف میشه و هر کدوم چطور به یکی از جنبههای مهم زندگی پیوند میخوره.
حالا بیایید این چهار سوال رو بررسی کنیم:
1. چی رو دوست داری؟ (What you love)
اینجا صحبت از عشق و اشتیاق به کاریه که واقعاً ازش لذت میبری. این همون چیزیه که وقتی مشغول انجام دادنش هستی، زمان رو فراموش میکنی.
2. در چی مهارت داری؟ (What you are good at)
این بخش به تواناییها و استعدادهای شخصی مربوط میشه. اون چیزی که توش مهارت داری و بقیه هم بهت برای اون تواناییها مراجعه میکنن.

این قسمت به اقتصادی کردن مهارتها و علاقهها مربوط میشه. اینجا بحث اینه که چطور از مهارتهات برای تامین مالی زندگیت استفاده کنی.
4. دنیا به چی نیاز داره؟ (What the world needs)
این بخش میپرسه چطور میتونی از عشق و مهارتهات برای کمک به جامعه و پاسخ به نیازهای جهانی استفاده کنی.
حالا وقتی این چهار سوال با هم ترکیب بشن، به نتایج جالبی میرسیم:
• چی رو دوست داری و در چی مهارت داری ترکیب بشن، نتیجه میشه Passion (اشتیاق).

مثلاً
همین الان چطوری؟
الان چه حسهایی در بدنت داری؟
همین الان چه وضعیتی از نظر احساسی داری؟
وضعیت نفس کشیدنات چگونه است؟
این سوالات، ناخودآگاه، توجه تو را به زمان حال میآورد. زمان حال جایی است که ذهن از آن فراری است.
دانستن وضعیت جسمی و روحی در زمان حال، یکی از مهمترین کارهای ما در هر لحظه است.
معمولاً کلافهای پیچیدۀ ذهن، ما را در دنیایی خیالی گیر میاندازند و ما را از دانستن وضعیت لحظه باز میدارند.
پس مهمترین سوال و مهمترین کار در هر لحظه این است که بدانیم در چه وضعیتی از نظر بدنی و ذهنی و احساسی هستیم.
اگر چه ساده به نظر میرسد ولی اغلبِ آدمها از وضعیت خودشان بیخبرند.
مثلاً یک فرد مضطرب نمیداند مضطرب است و یک فرد عصبانی نمیداند که خشمگین است.
همین توجه کردن و دانستن وضعیت در لحظه، به سادگی تو را به حالت مراقبهگونِ لحظه میآورد.
در غیر این صورت، ذهن، داستانهای هزارتویی برای تو درست میکند و تو را با خودش میبرد. درست مثل سینما.
وقتی در سینما هستی برای بیرون آمدن از درامای فیلم میتوانی به اطراف خودت نگاه کنی. یعنی به صندلیها و سالن سینما. اینطوری از داخل دنیای خیالیِ نقش بسته بر پردۀ سینما بیرون میآیی.
همین مثال در مورد ذهن هم صادق است.
با دیدن وضعیت خودت در لحظه، از سینمای مجازی ذهن بیرون میآیی.
به همین سادگی!

Many of the mind’s questions are mistaken. If you’re not mindful, the mind can confuse you with incorrect questions! These questions are often about the past or future, full of assumptions. One way to enter the present moment and bypass the mind is by asking questions centered on the moment.
For example,
How are you right now?
What sensations do you feel in your body?
What’s your emotional state right now?
How’s your breathing?
These questions subconsciously draw your attention to the present moment, a place the mind often avoids.
Knowing your physical and mental state in the present is one of the most important things we can do.
The complex tangles of the mind often trap us in a fictional world, keeping us from understanding the current moment.
So, the most crucial question and task in each moment is to know your physical, mental, and emotional state.
Although it may seem simple, most people are unaware of their state.
For instance, an anxious person may not realize they’re anxious, and an angry person may not know they’re angry.
Simply paying attention and knowing your current state can easily bring you into a meditative state in the present.
Otherwise, the mind will create labyrinthine stories and take you along, much like the cinema.
When you’re in the cinema, to step out of the film’s drama, you can look around, at the seats and the theater. This way, you exit the imaginary world on the cinema screen.
The same applies to the mind.
By seeing your present state, you step out of the mind’s virtual cinema.
It’s that simple!

خیلی از سوالهای ذهن اشتباه است. اگر حواست به ذهن نباشد تو را با سوالهای نادرست گیج میکند! سوالهای ذهن معمولاً در مورد گذشته و آینده است. سوالهای ذهن معمولاً پر از پیشفرض است. یکی از راههای ورود به لحظه و دور زدن ذهن، سوالهایی است که معطوف به لحظه است.
مثلاً
همین الان چطوری؟
الان چه حسهایی در بدنت داری؟
همین الان چه وضعیتی از نظر احساسی داری؟
وضعیت نفس کشیدنات چگونه است؟
این سوالات، ناخودآگاه، توجه تو را به زمان حال میآورد. زمان حال جایی است که ذهن از آن فراری است.
دانستن وضعیت جسمی و روحی در زمان حال، یکی از مهمترین کارهای ما در هر لحظه است.

For the first time in over a decade, Ottawa is planning to lower its immigration targets.
What happened: Canada’s federal government announced a reduction in the number of new permanent residency permits over the next three years. The 2025 target has been cut by 21% to 395,000 people, and by 2027 it’s projected to further drop to 365,000.
Catch-up: Canada has traditionally relied on immigration to boost economic growth, especially as the Baby Boomer generation exits the workforce. In 2023, immigration accounted for 97.6% of the country’s population growth—bringing in 1.27 million people, nearly the population of Calgary.
• This significant increase has strained services like hospitals, schools, and the housing market, while also pushing the unemployment rate to a seven-year high.
• Lower immigration targets mean Canada will need around 670,000 fewer homes by 2027, according to Immigration Minister Marc Miller.
Why it matters: While reducing immigration could ease pressure on public services, Canada’s economy has been built on welcoming newcomers. A Scotiabank report suggests that this shift might lead to a shrinking labor force in the near future.
