— ❗️🇮🇷/🇺🇳/🇪🇺 IMPORTANT: In three days, the International Atomic Energy Agency will meet in Vienna to discuss Iran's compliance with the 2015 JCPOA (Nuclear Deal)
Despite the fact that it was America that unilaterally withdrew from the nuclear deal in 2018, European countries now say Iran likely isn't in compliance with the JCPOA anymore.
If the IAEA finds that Iran is officially no longer in compliance, any of the parties to the JCPOA, specifically the European nations, can initiate the 'snapback' clause — which would reimpose all UN sanctions against Iran, including an arms embargo, a ban on uranium enrichment, a global freeze of Iranian assets, and a ban on ballistic missile activities.
While these sanctions won't do much in reality considering that Iran's missile and nuclear programs are fully self-sufficient, it will deal a blow to Iran's international credibility and lay the groundwork for accusations of nuclear weapons — which will be the pretext for an Israeli nuclear strike.
This is why Iran's Foreign Minister today promised a 'strong reaction' by Iran if Europe triggered the snapback mechanism. Earlier, Araqchi stated that if the Europeans activate snapback, Iran's attitude towards its nuclear program would 'change completely'.
Iran could take various measures in response, like mass producing or activating large amounts of advanced IR-9 enrichment centrifuges, quitting the Non Proliferation Treaty (NPT), or even unveiling an ICBM or conducting a nuclear test.
