Welcome to The Movement

Hey everyone! I'm Sarah, the new national chair for what originally was the General Strike on October 15th. I joined the discord right in the middle of all of the changes in leadership and have found my way to the top (because apparently my Virgo rising likes organizing things so much and that is what this movement needed at the time).

Since then me and the diverse + amazing team of folks who now make up Labor Movement X are proud to listen, learn, and support everyone as we fight for fair rights for the working class in this country. We lost the password and login for the original account on here in the shuffle 😅 so I made a new account over at r/LaborMovementX

More than anything I'm someone who listens. All those with me on our national committee are fierce advocates for intersectionality and for making this Movement accessible to all. It's a movement started by the working class, for the rights of all of us. I think the original organizers had a great idea that spoke to a LOT of people who are feeling un-supported and outright mistreated in this country, myself included. We understand that not everyone can strike (at least not in the traditional sense of the word).

We've got a whole lot of great stuff coming out this week about our revised demands and plan of action. I'd love it if you joined us.

Anyone else hear about this? Would it be wise to wait and see if they successfully unionize and if so to get in touch with a leader and organize a strike? It would give this whole movement insane momentum and the media would be forced to cover it. Just spitballing

@Octoberstrike
There should be only one goal

$25 minimum wage. Nothing will happen if the movement is too diluted. They want this to be framed before it starts.

Y'all need good posters! Stay away from red, and small print. My wife and I have yard sales bi-monthly and have a knack for spreading signs. GIVE US SOMETHING TO WORK WITH!!! We want to help

Looks like the twitter page is down?

https://twitter.com/StrikeOctober

Let me know if this was fixed for the most part, but it seems like the account linked to the official website is down, so maybe just needs to be updated

Also, it looks like a lot of the discussion is happening on discord, is there a link that can be provided on the website?

@Octoberstrike
Misinformation about the strike spreading?

Now on TikTok I see that it's been cancelled by the OP?
Links lead to troll accounts too.

Take action for the climate now! (Please do not take this down, humanity needs to take action))

Hey October/LaborX peeps, this is dire. We are in Red Alert mode about climate crisis. We need as many people as we can to sign up, protest, call in phone banks, call and message their senators, leaders, and president. Below are other organizations you can join or help out with, and links that let you know what you can do. This is not to detract from LaborMovementX this is a supplement until this movement gets going.

Please send the following links to as many people as you can:

Legislation introduced to allow student loans to be written off through bankruptcy.

"While some progressive Democrats continue to push the president to cancel student loan debt, there's a bipartisan effort underway to overhaul the student loan system in another way: by making bankruptcy discharges more accessible for student debtors.

If passed, the bill would allow federal student loans to become eligible for discharge in bankruptcy proceedings 10 years after the borrower's first loan payment comes due.

The bill also proposes to increase "institutional accountability" by making colleges that receive federal loans from more than a third of their students "partially reimburse" the Department of Education (ED) if student loans are later discharged in bankruptcy or "if the colleges had consistently high default rates and low repayment rates.""

Student loans aren't part of OctoberStrike but we're part of LabormovementX. If mods feel off topic please remove.

For discussion, is this good enough?

On October 15th, WE THE PEOPLE SHUT THIS DOWN!

……by calling in sick! All 12 of us! And with no support or endorsements from any actual labor unions whatsoever, who are probably laughing at all of you!

We defeated capitalism, guys! #ImHelping
