Google Pixel foldable to feature a compact cover display, launching in Q4 2022
Ross Young
While everyone is excited about the upcoming Pixel 6a & Pixel Watch, Google is also preparing their first Pixel foldable behind the scenes.
Ross Young came out and said the cover display of the Pixel foldable will come in 5.8" size, which is smaller comparing to Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, featuring a 6.19" outer screen. Besides, he also replied that the foldable will launch sometime in Q4 this year, probably with the Pixel 7 if it isn't delayed.
In case you missed it, the device could cost $1399, comes with 12GB of RAM and the same camera sensor used on older Pixel models.

Z Fold 4 and Google foldable will have similar sized foldable displays, but the Google cover display will be quite a bit smaller at 5.8". This should mean it will have a wider aspect ratio than the Samsung 6.19" Fold 4. Hear more at our conference next week.

Android 13 will block malicious use of Accessibility APIs
Esper Blog
Till today, users have to manually enable the accessibility service for applications as the API can take "full control" of the whole device. Users are being warned when doing so. On Android 13, there are some changes made to protect users.
On Android 13, if you have sideloaded applications with applications that used session-based package installation API, there won't be any restrictions on enabling accessibility service for those apps. Third-party app stores like Aurora Store won't be affected for example. You can watch this demonstration video to understand how it works.
Google has told Esper that they only wanted to restrict accessibility API access for applications that came from less legitimate sources. Even if applications have been blocked access to use the accessibility service, users can still bypass it by going to the app info and tapping on the three-dot menu, then "Allow restricted settings."

Here's why you don't get OTA update for Android beta builds after signing up
r/android_beta
Google is currently running two versions of Android Beta program, one for the Pixel Feature Drop and one is for the upcoming major release Android 13. There are some limitations Google would like to explain when you opt-in the beta program around this time.
Users who have installed the May security patch update on their phones will then have to wait until Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3 builds or Android 13 Beta 2 are released in order to receive the beta build OTA update. Besides, once you have installed the Android 12 QPR3 Beta 3 build, if you want to switch over to Android 13 beta, the OTA update will only arrive when Beta 2 is released.
Android 12QPR3 Beta 3, which will be the final beta build for that particular version, will be arriving this week. Android 13 Beta 2 will be coming later this month. You can of course, choose to manually install it yourself instead of waiting, but you need to wipe your device as currently those beta builds are older than the recently released May stable update build.
Lastly, for those who are on Android 12 QPR3 and want to return to the stable channel without erasing your device, one more month to go till you can opt out the beta program without any conflict.

Pixel 6a case first impressions
Digital Trends
A phone case manufacturer, Poetic sent Digital Trends a Pixel 6a case, compared to the Pixel 6 the phone is:
- slightly smaller by a few milimetres
- has a smaller camera bump by ± 1/3 (14-16mm vs 21mm)
The Pixel 6a features an in-display fingerprint sensor instead of a physical one featured on the 5a as suggested by the placement of the fingerprint sensor sticker on the frame with the screen protector.
As any other Pixel, the 6a features the Google styled volume/power buttons layout with both of them on the right hand side.

Google silently releases the Android 13 Beta 1 for Android TV
Android Police | Mishaal Rahman
Few days after releasing the Android 13 Beta 1 for Pixel devices, Google has decided to release a version of it for Android TV.
There aren't many changes found in it besides support for varying content aspect ratios when viewing picture-in-picture windows and a new low-power mode but we might hear more about it during the Google I/O keynote in few days.
So far it is only available on the Google ADT-3 dev box, or Android Studio emulator just like the Android 12 TV Beta.

Desktop AVD (Android Virtual Device) now in Android Studio
ChromeOS Newsroom
Android app developers just got a brand new way of testing their apps for Chromebooks on Android Studio.
These Android 12 based builds will allow programmers to run apps on the built-in emulator just like on real ChromeOS-running hardware.
In Desktop AVD apps will be ran in freeform mode, letting you resize the apps and easily maximize/minimize/close them with a click on the caption bar. The running apps, quick settings and notification panels can easilly accessible on the dock similar to the one on ChromeOS.
You can try out the brand new mode right now with the canary version (Electric Eel release) of Android Studio.

Pixel 6a near its release, production began right before Google I/O
stufflistings
According to rumors, the Pixel 6a has started it's production in multiple Asian countries.
What interesting is in this leak though, is the usage of (NFC) next to the device name which could mean the lack of a 5G modem in the device (hopefully it's going to be better than the one in Pixel 6)
In a tweet below, Mukul has stated that Google will be distributing the phone in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore and possibly India adding two new countries with official sales of Pixel devices.
