Google Chrome is working on a sidebar search feature, similar to Microsoft Edge
Google has been borrowing many Microsoft Edge features, one of the recent one is about site card. Next, Google is going to borrow the sidebar search feature from Microsoft Edge, again.

It was first spotted by Leopeva64, the feature will display relevant search results inside a small side panel without needing to open a new tab. Also he believed it will be placed on the left side instead of right, as Chrome already has a side panel which show bookmarks and "Reading list".

Besides, Chrome Story discovered three related flags in the Chromium gerrit:
Side search: Enables an easily accessible way to access your most recent Google search results page embedded in a browser-side panel.
Side search clear cache when close: Clears the side search cache when the side panel is closed.
Side search state per tab: Enables a per-tab toggled state for the side search side panel. (XDA-Developers)
