❗️Israeli troops loot Palestinian exchange shops in occupied West Bank
Israeli forces carried out coordinated raids on currency exchange shops across multiple cities in the occupied West Bank, including Nablus, Hebron, Ramallah, Tubas, Jenin, and Bethlehem, according to verified footage reviewed by Al Jazeera’s Sanad fact-checking unit.
Smoke grenades were deployed in central Jenin, while roads were blocked in Tubas and Bethlehem during the operation. Israeli Army Radio said the raids aimed to seize large sums of money "suspected of funding armed groups in the region."

The tests involved presenting AI models with math problems, with a shutdown instruction appearing after the third problem. By rewriting the shutdown noscript, the o3 model was able to prevent itself from being switched off.
Palisade Research said that this behaviour will become “significantly more concerning” if adopted by AI systems capable of operating without human oversight.”
OpenAI launched o3 last month, describing it as the company’s “smartest and most capable” model to date. The firm also said that its integration into ChatGPT marked a significant step towards “a more agentic” AI that can carry out tasks independently of humans.

❗️Ten Italian jurists issue formal warning to government over Israeli military and defense cooperation
10 jurists urged the Italian government last week to withdraw from the Memorandum of Understanding on military and defense cooperation with Israel, which is due for automatic renewal on 8 June for another five years. They also warned of potential legal action if the government does not act.
The jurists argue that the memorandum constitutes a "blatant, deliberate, systematic, and intersectional violation of general international law, treaty-based international law, and humanitarian law."
Originally signed in Paris on 16 June, 2003, the agreement was made “between the Government of the Italian Republic and the Government of the State of Israel on cooperation in the military and defense sectors." However, the jurists' warning notes that the memorandum has remained "shrouded in military secrecy" since its signing.

Israeli Use Of Human Shields In Gaza Was Systematic, Soldiers And Former Detainees Tell The AP
The only time the Palestinian man wasn’t bound or blindfolded, he said, was when he was used by Israeli soldiers as their human shield.
Dressed in army fatigues with a camera fixed to his forehead, Ayman Abu Hamadan was forced into houses in the Gaza Strip to make sure they were clear of bombs and gunmen, he said. When one unit finished with him, he was passed to the next.
“They beat me and told me: ‘You have no other option; do this or we’ll kill you,’” the 36-year-old told The Associated Press, describing the 2 1/2 weeks he was held last summer by the Israeli military in northern Gaza.
Orders often came from the top, and at times nearly every platoon used a Palestinian to clear locations, said an Israeli officer, speaking on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisal.
Several Palestinians and soldiers told the AP that Israeli troops are systematically forcing Palestinians to act as human shields in Gaza, sending them into buildings and tunnels to check for explosives or militants. The dangerous practice has become ubiquitous during 19 months of war, they said.
In response to these allegations, Israel’s military says it strictly prohibits using civilians as shields — a practice it has long accused Hamas of using in Gaza. Israeli officials blame the militants for the civilian death toll in its offensive that has killed tens of thousands of Palestinians.
In a statement to the AP, the military said it also bans otherwise coercing civilians to participate in operations, and “all such orders are routinely emphasized to the forces.”
The military said it’s investigating several cases alleging that Palestinians were involved in missions, but wouldn’t provide details. It didn’t answer questions about the reach of the practice or any orders from commanding officers.

Netanyahu Threatening To Upend US-Iran Talks By Attacking Iran
Trump said on Wednesday that he told Netanyahu an attack on Iran wouldn't be 'appropriate' at this time
The New York Times reported on Wednesday that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is threatening to upend negotiations between the US and Iran by potentially attacking Iranian nuclear facilities.
The report said that the threat from Israel led to a recent tense phone call between Netanyahu and President Trump and a series of meetings between senior US and Israeli officials in recent days.
Trump was asked by reporters on Wednesday if he warned Netanyahu against attacking Iran during a phone call last week, and said, “Well, I’d like to be honest. Yes, I did.”
“It’s not a warning. I said I don’t think it’s appropriate. We were having very good discussions with Iran, and I don’t think it’s appropriate right now,” the president said.
“If we can settle it with a very strong document, inspections and no trust – I don’t trust anybody – so no trust,” Trump said. He added that he believed the US and Iran are “very close to a solution” but warned that it could “change at any moment.”
Trump has been threatening to bomb Iran if a deal isn’t reached, even though US intelligence agencies have recently reaffirmed there’s no evidence Iran is building a nuclear weapon.
The US has been demanding that Iran eliminate its nuclear enrichment program altogether as part of any deal, a condition that’s a non-starter for Tehran. While the two sides appear to be far apart, reports suggest that an interim deal could be reached to buy time for further negotiations to reach a long-term agreement.
Netanyahu has also been demanding that any deal must dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, and it’s unlikely he would be happy with any sort of interim agreement. The Times report said Israel could launch an attack on Iran on its own, even though it’s unlikely Israel could do any significant damage to Iranian nuclear facilities without US support.
US officials are concerned that Israel could strike Iran with little notice, and a unilateral attack could still get the US involved. The Times report said that Israeli officials “close to Mr. Netanyahu believe the US would have no choice but to assist Israel militarily if Iran counterattacked.”

Trump was asked by reporters on Wednesday if he warned Netanyahu against attacking Iran during a phone call last week, and said, “Well, I’d like to be honest. Yes, I did.”
“It’s not a warning. I said I don’t think it’s appropriate. We were having very good discussions with Iran, and I don’t think it’s appropriate right now,” the president said.
“If we can settle it with a very strong document, inspections and no trust – I don’t trust anybody – so no trust,” Trump said. He added that he believed the US and Iran are “very close to a solution” but warned that it could “change at any moment.”
Trump has been threatening to bomb Iran if a deal isn’t reached, even though US intelligence agencies have recently reaffirmed there’s no evidence Iran is building a nuclear weapon.
The US has been demanding that Iran eliminate its nuclear enrichment program altogether as part of any deal, a condition that’s a non-starter for Tehran. While the two sides appear to be far apart, reports suggest that an interim deal could be reached to buy time for further negotiations to reach a long-term agreement.
Netanyahu has also been demanding that any deal must dismantle Iran’s nuclear enrichment program, and it’s unlikely he would be happy with any sort of interim agreement. The Times report said Israel could launch an attack on Iran on its own, even though it’s unlikely Israel could do any significant damage to Iranian nuclear facilities without US support.
US officials are concerned that Israel could strike Iran with little notice, and a unilateral attack could still get the US involved. The Times report said that Israeli officials “close to Mr. Netanyahu believe the US would have no choice but to assist Israel militarily if Iran counterattacked.”

Israeli PM and internationally wanted war criminal Benjamin Netanyahu announced on 21 May that implementing a US plan to displace Palestinians from Gaza is a “clear condition” for lifting the siege of the strip.
"I am prepared to end the war in Gaza, under clear conditions that will ensure the safety of Israel – all the hostages come home, Hamas lays down its arms, steps down from power, its leadership is exiled from the strip … Gaza is totally disarmed, and we carry out the Trump plan. A plan that is so correct and so revolutionary,” Netanyahu said during a televised speech on Wednesday night.
Last week, Trump doubled down on his scheme to ethnically cleanse Gaza of Palestinians during his visit to Qatar, insisting that the besieged enclave be turned into a “freedom zone.”
“Gaza has been a territory of death and destruction for many years,” Trump said. “I have concepts for Gaza that I think are very good – make it a freedom zone. Let the United States get involved and make it just a freedom zone.”
During Wednesday's speech, the Israeli premier also stressed that the ongoing Gideon’s Chariots operation is meant to “complete the war, the work.”
