Israeli Soldier Reveals 'strange Order' To Cancel Gaza Border Patrols On 7 Oct

The revelation adds to evidence suggesting Israel knew of the Hamas attack in advance, yet allowed it to occur

An Israeli soldier stated that he and his fellow soldiers stationed at a military outpost near Gaza received orders not to carry out their usual early morning patrol on the border fence on 7 October 2023, Israeli media reported on 17 July.

During the time the border patrol would have normally been carried out, members of Hamas's armed wing, the Qassam Brigades, crossed the fence to attack Israeli army bases and settlements (kibbutzim).

Shalom Sheetrit, a soldier in the Golani Brigade, revealed the directive while giving testimony at a meeting of the lobby for reserve personnel in the Israeli Knesset.

He stated that on the night before the 7 October attack, he and two other soldiers, Yotam Sror and Itamar Ben Yehuda, sat by the battalion radio at the Pega military outpost near Kibbutz Be'eri.

“We were playing on the phone [at 5:20 am] and suddenly a strange message comes from my battalion commander,” the soldier explained, “and what he says on the call is something like this: ‘I don't know why, but an order was issued that there are no patrols at the fence until nine in the morning.’”

Former IDF Intel Chief: Oct. 7 Was ‘Much Deeper’ Than An Intelligence Failure

In leaked recordings, Aharon Haliva recounts night before Hamas attack, lambasts Netanyahu for not resigning and claims high Gaza death toll ‘required for future generations’

Former IDF intelligence chief Aharon Haliva , in a series of leaked recordings, said that the October 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack did not occur because of intelligence failures or a poor response time the night of the attack, but was the result of “something much deeper, spanning many years, that requires a much deeper correction.”

The tapes of Haliva, who resigned from his position as head of the Military Intelligence Directorate last year against the backdrop of October 7, were aired Friday night on Channel 12’s primetime news program.

In the recordings, Haliva is heard recounting events from the night before the Hamas attack,...

According to the network, the conversations that were aired took place over the past several months.

“The intelligence failure… is not even about people; it’s something much deeper, spanning many years, that requires a much deeper correction,” the former intelligence chief said in the first recording.

“It’s not a matter of a personnel fix,” he said..“I’m against the notion that says, ‘It was just an accident,'” he said...

“I say what happened to us is much more than that,” Haliva continued, insisting that the whole system “requires dismantling and rebuilding.””

‘They Need a Nakba every now and then’
Haliva said: “The fact that there are already 50,000 dead in Gaza is necessary and required for future generations.”...

“For everything that happened on October 7, for every person who was killed on October 7, 50 Palestinians must die,” he said.

“I’m not speaking out of revenge, I’m speaking out of a message to future generations. There’s nothing to be done,” he charged. “They need a Nakba every now and then to feel the price. There’s no choice, in this disturbed neighborhood.”

'They Need A Nakba': Former Israeli Intelligence Chief Calls Gaza Death Toll 'Necessary'

The former head of Israel' s military intelligence, who resigned last year for failing to prevent the 7 October attacks, has said Palestinians need to face a Nakba "every now and then" and that the spiralling death toll in Gaza is "necessary" and will serve as "a message for future generations."

According to audio recordings broadcast on Ulpan Shishi, a TV programme which airs on Israel's Channel 12 on Friday, Retired General Aharon Haliva said that "50 Palestinians should die" for every victim of the 7 October attack on southern Israel.

"There's no choice, they need a Nakba every now and then to feel the consequences," Haliva said, referring to the ethnic cleansing of Palestine by Zionist militias to make way for the creation of Israel in 1948.

"I'm not saying this out of revenge, but as a message for future generations," he added.

It's unclear how many Israelis were killed by Hamas-led fighter on 7 October but according to the Israeli military at least 1,195 people died on that day.
