Weak and Fabricated Hadiths About the Virtues of the Month of Rajab👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿👇🏿

📝Benefit from

Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee ((حفظه الله))

▪️1) Hadith:

“O Allaah, bless us in Rajab and Sha‘ban, and let us reach Ramadan.”
Narrated by Ahmad and al-Tabarani in al-Awsat.

Al-Haythamee said: It was narrated by Al-Bazzar, and in its chain is Zā’idah ibn Abī al-Raqqād.

Al-Bukhari said: He is munkar Al-hadith (his narrations are rejected), and a number of scholars declared him unknown.

📒 See: Majma‘ al-Zawā’id by al-Haythami 2/165 (Dar al-Rayyān edition, 1407 AH).
It was also weakened by al-Nawawi in al-Adhkār, and by al-Dhahabi in al-Mīzān 3/96 (Dar al-Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah edition, 1995).

▪️2) Hadith:

“The virtue of the month of Rajab over other months is like the virtue of the Qur’an over all other speech.”

Ibn Hajar said: It is fabricated.

📒 See: Kashf al-Khafā’ by al-‘Ajlūni 2/110 (Mu’assasat al-Risālah, 1405 AH),
and al-Maṣnū‘ by ‘Ali ibn Sultan al-Qari 1/128 (Maktabat al-Rushd, 1404 AH).

▪️ 3) Hadith:
“Rajab is the month of Allaah, Sha‘ban is my month, and Ramadan is the month of my Ummah.”

Narrated by Al-Daylami and others from Anas as a marfū‘ report.

Ibn Al-Jawzee mentioned it in Al-Mawḍū‘āt through numerous chains, and likewise al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar in Tabyīn al-‘Ajab fī mā warada fī Rajab.

📒 See: Fayḍ al-Qadīr by al-Manawi 4/162 and 166 (al-Maktabah al-Tijāriyyah al-Kubrā, 1356 AH),
and Kashf al-Khafā’ by al-‘Ajlūni 2/13 (Mu’assasat al-Risālah, 1405 AH).

▪️4) Hadith:

“Do not neglect the first Friday night of Rajab, for it is a night the angels call al-Raghā’ib…” and the fabricated hadith is mentioned in full.

📒 See: Kashf al-Khafā’ by al-‘Ajlūni 1/95 (Mu’assasat al-Risālah, 1405 AH),
and Naqd al-Manqūl by al-Zar‘i 1/83 (Dar al-Qadiri, 1411 AH).

▪️5) Hadith:
“Rajab is a great month in which Allaah multiplies good deeds. Whoever fasts one day of Rajab, it is as if he fasted a year; whoever fasts seven days, seven gates of Hell are closed for him; whoever fasts eight days, eight gates of Paradise are opened for him; whoever fasts ten days, he does not ask Allah for anything except that He gives it to him; whoever fasts fifteen days, a caller from the heavens calls out: ‘You have been forgiven for what has passed, so begin your deeds anew.’ Whoever increases, Allaah increases for him.

In Rajab, Allaah carried Noah in the Ark, so he fasted Rajab and ordered those with him to fast; it sailed for seven months, the last of which was the Day of ‘Ashura.

He disembarked upon Mount Judi, so Noah and those with him, and the beasts, fasted in gratitude to Allaah. On the Day of ‘Ashura Allaah split the sea for the Children of Israel; on it Allaah accepted Adam’s repentance, and the repentance of the people of Yunus; and on it Ibrahim was born.”

Imam al-Dhahabi said: This is false, and its chain is extremely obscure.

Al-Haythamee said:

It was narrated by al-Tabarani in Al-Kabir, and in it is ‘Abd al-Ghafur, who is abandoned (matrūk).

📒 See: al-Mīzān by al-Dhahabi 5/62 (Dar al-Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah, 1995),
and Majma‘ al-Zawā’id by al-Haythami 3/188 (Dar al-Rayyān, 1407 AH).

▪️6) All hadiths concerning Ṣalāt al-Raghā’ib on the first Friday night of Rajab are lies fabricated against the Messenger of Allah ((ﷺ))

And every hadith mentioning fasting Rajab or praying on certain nights of it is a lie and a fabrication.

And the hadith: “Whoever prays twenty rak‘ahs after Maghrib on the first night of Rajab will cross the Sirat without impurity.”

And the hadith: “Whoever fasts one day of Rajab and prays two rak‘ahs, reciting in each rak‘ah one hundred times Ayat al-Kursi, and in the second one hundred times ‘Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad’, will not die until he sees his seat in Paradise.”

And the hadiths: “Whoever fasts such-and-such days of Rajab…”

Imam Abu ‘Abd Allah ibn Abi Bakr al-Zar‘i (d. 691 AH) said: All of them are lies and fabrications with varying wordings.

📒 See: Naqd al-Manqūl by al-Zar‘i 1/83–84 (Dar al-Qadiri, 1411 AH).
▪️7) Hadith:
“Whoever fasts three days of a sacred monthThursday, Friday, and Saturday Allaah will record for him the worship of nine hundred years.”
In another wording: “sixty years.”

Narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat 2/219 (Dar al-Haramayn, 1415 AH). He said: This hadith was not narrated from Maslamah except by Ya‘qub, and Muhammad ibn Yahya was alone in narrating it.

Al-Haythami said: It was narrated by al-Tabarani in al-Awsat from Ya‘qub ibn Musa al-Madani from Maslamah. Ya‘qub is unknown, and Maslamah is Ibn Rashid al-Hamani; Hatim said about him: His hadiths are inconsistent, and al-Azdi said in al-Du‘afā’: He is not to be relied upon.

📒 See: Majma‘ al-Zawā’id 3/191 (Dar al-Rayyān, 1407 AH).

Ibn Al-Jawzee ruled it inauthentic in al-‘Ilal al-Mutanāhiyah 2/554 (Dar al-Kutub al-‘Ilmiyyah, 1403 AH).

▪️8) Hadith:
“Fasting the first day of Rajab is an expiation for three years, the second day an expiation for two years, then each day an expiation for one month.”

📒 See: Fayḍ al-Qadīr by al-Manawi 4/210 (al-Maktabah al-Tijāriyyah al-Kubrā, 1356 AH).

▪️9) Al-‘Ajlūni (may Allah have mercy on him) said: Among the fabricated hadiths are those concerning the virtue of the first Friday night of Rajab and the invented prayer performed on it, known as Ṣalāt al-Raghā’ib.

It has not been established in the Sunnah, nor by the Imams of hadith.

📒 See: Kashf al-Khafā’ by al-‘Ajlūni 2/563 (Mu’assasat al-Risālah, 1405 AH).

▪️10) Al-Hafidh Abu ‘Abd Allaah Muhammad ibn Abi Bakr al-Dimashqi (d. 691 AH) said:
Every hadith concerning fasting Rajab or praying on certain nights of it is a lie and a fabrication, such as the hadith: “Whoever prays twenty rak‘ahs after Maghrib on the first night of Rajab will cross the Sirat without impurity.”

📒 See: al-Manār al-Munīf 1/96 (Maktabat al-Matbu‘at al-Islamiyyah, 1403 AH).

Signs Of Beneficial Knowledge

▫️Benefit▫️

From The Official English Channel Of Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan ((حفظه الله))

📝 Al-Ḥāfidh Ibn Rajab ((رحمه الله))
(d. 795 AH)

Said:

Among the signs of beneficial knowledge is that it leads its possessor to flee from the world.

The greatest of its temptations are leadership, fame, and praise.

And among the signs of beneficial knowledge is that its possessor does not claim knowledge for himself, nor boast of it over anyone, nor attribute ignorance to others,

Except for the one who opposes the Sunnah and its people regarding such a person, he speaks against them out of anger for the sake of Allaah, not with the intention of elevating himself over anyone.

🔉Being Cautious and Warning Against the Innovations of the
Month of Rajab🔉

Innovations of the Month of Rajab

🎙 Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee ((حفظه الله))

▪️Likewise, among the innovations in the month of Rajab is that some people single out performing ʿUmrah in the month of Rajab, believing that it has a special virtue.

▪️This too is an innovation, for performing ʿUmrah in Rajab has no special merit and no particular distinction.

▫️O Muslim, perform ʿUmrah at any time; however, it is especially virtuous in Ramadan.

▫️ The Prophet ((ﷺ ))said:▫️

📨“An ʿUmrah in Ramadan is equivalent to a Hajj with me.” This is what has been authentically established from him(( ﷺ)) and from his family and his Companions."📨

Some of the righteous predecessors (may Allaah have mercy on them) said:

Do not reflect upon excessively
three things:

1.) Do not reflect upon poverty, for it will increase your worry and sorrow and intensify your greed.

2.) Do not reflect upon the ظلم (Oppression) of one who has wronged you, for it will harden your heart, increase your resentment, and prolong your anger.

3.) Do not reflect upon long remaining in this world, for you will come to love accumulation (of wealth), waste your lifetime, and procrastinate in deeds.

Conditional Divorce

📩Question📩

I have a question about a conditional divorce. My husband said: ‘If you ever do X, we’re done.’ These words are figurative (kināyah), not explicit divorce. If, for example, he intended that I would be divorced every time I do X, according to Sharī‘ah, does this mean I would be divorced every time I do X, or only the first time the condition occurs? Can his intention alone make it happen multiple times, or is the effect determined by the wording, as he said: ‘if you EVER do X’

📨Answered by:📨

🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee ((حفظه الله))

For example, if he said: “If you go out of the house, we are finished,” intending divorce, and she went out, then the divorce takes effect. If she then goes out a second, third, fourth, or fifth time, it counts as one divorce only as long as she is still in her waiting period (ʿiddah) and he has not taken her back. If he does take her back and then repeats this wording tied to another condition, the divorce takes effect again and is considered the second divorce. If he takes her back again, otherwise she becomes irrevocably separated from him.

Conditional Divorce ( Follow up Question)

📩Question📩

My follow up question is; if the husband takes the wife back and the condition is fulfilled again in the future, will an additional other divorce take effect because the husband had the intention of divorcing his wife everytime she fulfills the condition? Or will it take place the first time only? What is the shaykh’s opinion?

The statement he made is: “If you ever do X, we are done”.

He did not say “everytime or whenever you do X we are done”

📨Answered by:📨

🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee ((حفظه الله))

But may Allaah bless you: if this wording is repeated for example, if he says to her: “If you go out, we are finished,” and “If you go to so-and-so’s house, we are finished,” and “If you do such-and-such, we are finished” meaning different actions then they count as three divorces.

However, if it is one single condition, such as “If you do such-and-such, we are finished,” and she does it once and then repeats it, then it counts as one divorce only.

But if he says it every time
“If you do [this] each time, then we are finished” and he has not taken her back, then it counts as one divorce. If he does take her back and then repeats the statement and says, “If you do such-and-such, we are finished,”
and we say that by “finished” he intended divorce,
then it counts as a second divorce.

Glad tidings to you who strive in seeking knowledge with sincerity, diligence, and earnest effort:

It is narrated that a man came from Greater Syria to ʿOmar (may Allaah be pleased with him).

He asked him, “What brought you here?”
He replied, “I came to learn the tashahhud.”
ʿOmar wept until his beard became soaked, then he said,
“By Allaah, I truly hope that Allaah will never punish you.”

🔉Tubbāʿ the Kings of Yemen🔉

🎙Ash-Shaykh Abee Abdirahman Radmaan Al-Hubayshee ((حفظه الله ))

Allaah, the Mighty and Exalted, also says in His Noble Book:

“Are they better or the people of Tubba‘ and those before them? We destroyed them because they were indeed Mujrimûn (disbelievers, polytheists, sinners, criminals)..”

[ Ad- Dukhan [:37]

In Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, it is mentioned that Tubbaʿ refers to the kings of Yemen; each king of Yemen was called Tubbaʿ because he would succeed and follow the one before him.

In the Musnad of Imām Aḥmad, from the narrations of ʿĀʾishah, Sahl, and Ibn ʿAbbās,

The Prophet ((ﷺ)) said:

“Do not curse Tubbaʿ, for he had indeed accepted Islam.”

And in Al-Mustadrak of Al-Ḥākim, it is reported from ʿĀʾishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) that she said:

“Tubbaʿ was a righteous man.”

Do you not see that Allaah condemned his people, yet He did not condemn him?
