Anbessa Bank has redesigned its logo.
I found it to be a successful rebrand, and it’s way better than the old logo (it’s hard to even call that a logo, tho 😉).
I like the concept, color, and typography (with very few reservations). I also like the removal of the word “International,” the removal of the English "Lion", and its replacement with the word “anbesa.”
That said, as a professional, I noticed some technical issues that could have been improved:
1. The ጭረት (scratch) is centered mathematically, not visually—both vertically and horizontally.
A good example of handling this correctly is YouTube’s logo: the play button isn’t mathematically centered, but it feels centered visually.
2. I didn’t like where the Amharic name ends. It would have been better if it aligned with where the English name Anbessa ends.
