On October 27, 2018, an antisemitic, white supremacist gunman opened fire during Shabbat services, murdering 11 innocent worshippers.

Após mais de dois anos de espera e angústia, Yossi Sharabi, que foi sequestrado pelo Hamas no kibutz Be'eri em 7 de outubro de 2023 e assassinado em cativeiro na Faixa de Gaza, foi finalmente enterrado em seu lar. O corpo dele foi devolvido no último dia 13 como parte do acordo de cessar-fogo entra o Hamas e Israel em vigor.

Emocionado, o irmão de Yossi, Eli Sharabi, que também foi sequestrado pelo grupo terrorista palestino e mantido em cativeiro por 491 dias, prestou uma homenagem comovente. Eli recordou Yossi não apenas como irmão, mas como um homem de coração enorme, dedicado à família, pai de três filhas e sempre presente com gentileza e bondade.

Ele também destacou que Yossi nunca buscou fama, apenas viver bem e fazer o bem. Um adeus marcado pela dor da perda, mas também pelo reconhecimento de uma vida íntegra e cheia de amor.

Hoje (27), completam-se sete anos do massacre na Sinagoga Tree of Life, em Pittsburgh, um dos ataques mais letais contra judeus na história dos Estados Unidos. Na ocasião, o supremacista branco e antissemita Robert D. Bowers invadiu o templo durante o Shabat, assassinando 11 pessoas e ferindo outras seis.

Bowers atirou por vários minutos e, ao tentar fugir, foi confrontado por policiais. Após troca de tiros, refugiou-se no terceiro andar e se rendeu pouco depois.

Esse foi o ataque antissemita mais letal da história dos EUA e marcou profundamente a comunidade judaica de Pittsburgh e o bairro de Squirrel Hill, símbolo da vida religiosa e cultural judaica na cidade. Sete anos depois, enquanto o antissemitismo continua a crescer em todo o mundo, o ocorrido é lembrete de que devemos permanecer unidos em condenar, de forma inequívoca e universal, o ódio aos judeus.

For the Tzarfati family, the nightmare that began on October 7, 2023, continues.
Their son Ofir went to a music festival in southern Israel to dance, to celebrate life… and was kidnapped by Hamas into Gaza and murdered in captivity.
They have already stood at his grave twice, mourning and burying the remains returned from Gaza in separate incidents.
