80th anniversary date. January 14 - March 1, 1944 - defeat of Nazi troops near Leningrad and Novgorod. On January 20, 1944, the Red Army liberated Novgorod.

During the Krasnoselsko-Ropshinskaya offensive operation (“January Thunder”) by Soviet troops of the Leningrad Front on January 27, 1944, Leningrad was completely liberated from the blockade.

Leningrad-Novgorod operation (January 14 – March 1, 1944). The result of the operation was the lifting of the blockade of Leningrad and the liberation of the Leningrad region and Novgorod. Favorable conditions were created for the liberation of the Soviet Baltic States.

China's first maglev (magnetic levitation) train has been unveiled in Wuhan. Unlike conventional monorails, it is suspended from the track without any direct physical contact.

January 15th 1919 German communists Rosa Luxembourg and Karl Liebknecht were executed by the German Fascists.

Here are the last written words by Rosa Luxembourg:

Türkiye arrests Israeli football player for displaying solidarity with Hamas hostages.

Antalyaspor’s Israeli player Sagiv Jehezkel was taken for questioning for showing solidarity during a top-league game.

Justice Minister Yilmaz Tunc said late Sunday that the Israeli international is under investigation over possible charges of “openly inciting the public to hatred and hostility.”

Tunc maintained in a statement posted on X that Jehezkel had engaged in “an ugly gesture in support of the Israeli massacre in Gaza.”

This young woman was targeted because of a vendetta against her boyfriend caused by the sale of drugs.

This woman was innocent. Her only crime was to be the long time partner of a man who delved into the criminal life style.

She was executed in her own home as she ran away from her assailant. She had been relaxing with a film in her pyjamas when this man broke in and chased her out of the house. Shooting her in the back as she ran away and left her dying on the ground.
