🇦🇪🇨🇳 Abu Dhabi and Shenzhen become twin cities

The UAE capital Abu Dhabi and China's Shenzhen have signed a twin city agreement under which both sides will exchange knowledge and collaborate on smart city projects in various fields.

These include infrastructure, urban planning, green mobility, transport, advanced technologies, autonomous solutions, sustainability and urban development.

The agreement was signed during the inaugural Abu Dhabi Shenzhen Innovation Forum (ADSZIF) held in Shenzhen in late January. The agreement was signed by Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), and Qin Weizhong, Mayor of Shenzhen.

His Excellency Mohamed Ali Al Shorafa said:

"Abu Dhabi has its sights firmly set on being a global pioneer in sustainable and smart urban development. We are committed to leveraging innovation and technology to transform urban living and improve the lives, wellbeing and experience of all those connected to the UAE capital and across the emirate. Leveraging strategic partnerships is key to delivering any ambitious vision and as we approach the Chinese New Year, this is the perfect time to sign a Twin City agreement with one of the most advanced cities in the world, Shenzhen. The inaugural Abu Dhabi x Shenzhen Innovation Forum has been an overwhelming success and marks a new era for UAE-China relations. We are confident that the agreements signed during the forum will ensure our two world-class cities become even more attractive to citizens, visitors, businesses, and investors in the Year of the Dragon and beyond.”

The re-establishing of Gazprom as a state monopoly in 2000, immediately after Putin took office, is crucial to understand the rabid imperialist hostility to the man and the government he heads. In the 1990s Gazprom had been the property of the corrupt compradors headed by their main agent Victor Chenomyrdin, Putin removed him from the board then had the Russian state take over shareholdings to obtain a 50.23% stake in the company. Under Yeltsin this had shrunk down to a 38% stake and was moving in the direction whereby the US imperialists and their European allies could obtain control over it. Putin prevented this and this is why the US immediately started scheming with Khodokovsky to have him run for President in order to enable further US control over the energy sector. This links to Putins speech in 2007 where he said that the Russian government was more than prepared to do deals like good capitalists but expected these deals to be fairly done. As has been said numerous times though, being able to trade with Russia was never what the imperialists had in mind. They need to be able to have total control over the extraction of oil and gas and not have to bargain with the Russian state. They needed Russia to be a colonised site for resource extraction that could be used to obtain gigantic profits from. This was derailed by Putin as early as 2000 and it is at this time that the scare stories about him being Ivan the Terrible crossed with Stalin start to emerge. The simple act of denying the imperialists their "right" to unrestricted pillaging of Russian resources was enough to start a decades long propaganda war against Putins government as part of a wide ranging, constant regime change plan of which the late Mr Navalny was but one part.
