Turkey continues war against democracy in Kurdistan
Both in Rojava and in occupied Northern Kurdistan, the Turkish government is continuing its fight against the democratic decisions of the population.
In Rojava, the air force bombed the area around Qamişlo yesterday and fires broke out again in wheat fields; when firefighters and spontaneous helpers tried to extinguish the flames, border troops opened fire on them. Today a vehicle of the internal security forces was attacked in Kobanê, two people were injured.
Erdoğan had announced in the last few days that he would not accept the elections in Rojava next week, the attacks now are an attempt to prevent them at the last moment.
Meanwhile, in the northern Kurdish town of Colemerg, the co-mayor elected in the local elections in March was removed from office and replaced by a forced administrator from the AKP. The reason is a flimsy trial for terror propaganda, which threatens anyone who criticizes the Erdoğan government.

Elections in Rojava postponed again
The High Electoral Council of North and East Syria has announced that the municipal elections scheduled for next Tuesday will be postponed until August.
The council thus granted the request of several party alliances that had demanded more time to prepare for the elections.
The election date of August 8 is also intended to ensure the participation of international election observers.
It is unclear whether the Turkish attacks and threats in recent days have also played a role in the decision.
In recent days, Turkey has intensified its attacks on the self-governing territories, resulting in deaths and injuries. Erdoğan claimed on May 30 that the elections threatened Turkey's national security.
The elections are the first elections in Rojava since 2017; all other attempts to hold elections had been unfeasible due to attacks by Turkey.

Energy crisis in Rojava
The Rojava Autonomous Region in northern and eastern Syria has been in existence for 12 years and is a glimmer of hope for democratic reconstruction in Syria. Since its foundation, Rojava has had to defend itself against numerous threats. In addition to the clashes with the Assad regime, the main threats have been the wars with Turkey and the so-called Islamic State.
Now, however, the autonomy project is facing existential challenges. The energy supply is threatening to collapse. Turkish air strikes have largely destroyed the power stations and substations in the region. Electricity is in short supply and is mostly generated by dirty diesel generators. The civilian population suffers from a lack of electricity and water on a daily basis, but agriculture - in a region already hardest hit by climate change - is also severely affected.

🏗️Raqqa continues to grow, a new bridge over the Euphrates has been inaugurated
The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria (DAANES) inaugurated the new Al-Rashid bridge in Raqqa.
The city is experiencing significant growth in commercial and agricultural activities thanks to its strategic location between the al-Jazeera district and the interior of Syria and the efforts of the Autonomous Administration to rebuild the city, once proclaimed capital by ISIS.

🔴 Update - South. Kurdistan / Iraq:
Turkey stuck with preparations for operation in the Gara Mountains
As previously reported, Turkey announced a comprehensive military operation in the Gara Mountains this summer, but guerrilla resistance has foiled its plans.
A Source close to the Guerrilla states “relative progress of the Turkish Armed Forces was entirely due to war technology, not to the fighting capacity of the soldiers.” As the Guerrilla developed anti-drone measures, the balance on the battlefield changed dramatically. According to the guerrilla, the military wing of the PKK, close to 20 drones were destroyed during the last 16 Months.
"The soldiers of the Turkish army, whose technical superiority had been neutralized, were literally trapped in Zap & Metina." the source continues. Ironically, Turkish armed forces had called the operation "claw-lock". Now it's the occupiers who are being locked in.
