Turkey continues war against democracy in Kurdistan

Both in Rojava and in occupied Northern Kurdistan, the Turkish government is continuing its fight against the democratic decisions of the population.

In Rojava, the air force bombed the area around Qamişlo yesterday and fires broke out again in wheat fields; when firefighters and spontaneous helpers tried to extinguish the flames, border troops opened fire on them. Today a vehicle of the internal security forces was attacked in Kobanê, two people were injured.
Erdoğan had announced in the last few days that he would not accept the elections in Rojava next week, the attacks now are an attempt to prevent them at the last moment.

Meanwhile, in the northern Kurdish town of Colemerg, the co-mayor elected in the local elections in March was removed from office and replaced by a forced administrator from the AKP. The reason is a flimsy trial for terror propaganda, which threatens anyone who criticizes the Erdoğan government.

Elections in Rojava postponed again

The High Electoral Council of North and East Syria has announced that the municipal elections scheduled for next Tuesday will be postponed until August.
The council thus granted the request of several party alliances that had demanded more time to prepare for the elections.
The election date of August 8 is also intended to ensure the participation of international election observers.

It is unclear whether the Turkish attacks and threats in recent days have also played a role in the decision.
In recent days, Turkey has intensified its attacks on the self-governing territories, resulting in deaths and injuries. Erdoğan claimed on May 30 that the elections threatened Turkey's national security.

The elections are the first elections in Rojava since 2017; all other attempts to hold elections had been unfeasible due to attacks by Turkey.

Energy crisis in Rojava

The Rojava Autonomous Region in northern and eastern Syria has been in existence for 12 years and is a glimmer of hope for democratic reconstruction in Syria. Since its foundation, Rojava has had to defend itself against numerous threats. In addition to the clashes with the Assad regime, the main threats have been the wars with Turkey and the so-called Islamic State.

Now, however, the autonomy project is facing existential challenges. The energy supply is threatening to collapse. Turkish air strikes have largely destroyed the power stations and substations in the region. Electricity is in short supply and is mostly generated by dirty diesel generators. The civilian population suffers from a lack of electricity and water on a daily basis, but agriculture - in a region already hardest hit by climate change - is also severely affected.

🏗️Raqqa continues to grow, a new bridge over the Euphrates has been inaugurated

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North-East Syria (DAANES) inaugurated the new Al-Rashid bridge in Raqqa.

The city is experiencing significant growth in commercial and agricultural activities thanks to its strategic location between the al-Jazeera district and the interior of Syria and the efforts of the Autonomous Administration to rebuild the city, once proclaimed capital by ISIS.

🔴 Update - South. Kurdistan / Iraq:
Turkey stuck with preparations for operation in the Gara Mountains

As previously reported, Turkey announced a comprehensive military operation in the Gara Mountains this summer, but guerrilla resistance has foiled its plans.

A Source close to the Guerrilla states “relative progress of the Turkish Armed Forces was entirely due to war technology, not to the fighting capacity of the soldiers.” As the Guerrilla developed anti-drone measures, the balance on the battlefield changed dramatically. According to the guerrilla, the military wing of the PKK, close to 20 drones were destroyed during the last 16 Months.
"The soldiers of the Turkish army, whose technical superiority had been neutralized, were literally trapped in Zap & Metina." the source continues. Ironically, Turkish armed forces had called the operation "claw-lock". Now it's the occupiers who are being locked in.

The War Road Project

Selahetim Erdem sheds light on Erdogan's "Developement Road Project":

"It is obvious that the Tayyip Erdoğan Administration, which failed to surround the Media Defense Zones with a “Joint Force”, wants to encircle the whole of South Kurdistan from the south with the “Development Road Project”. Moreover, the area through which the road is to be built is what the PKK calls the “Central Region”, a region where many peoples live together with the Kurds. From time to time it is discussed that the PKK also wants to develop activity in this region. It is understood that the AKP-MHP fascist dictatorship wants to prevent the PKK from developing in this area with the road project in question and [...] turn it into a new gang territory under the name of “Turkmen region”. For this reason, it is more accurate and understandable to call the project in question the “Occupation and War Road Project” instead of the “Development Road Project”.

We congratulate our partners in the International Coalition on the killing of Osama Mohamed Ibrahim al-Janabi, an ISIS terrorist who was targeted during an airstrike, this terrorist was based in Afrin area that is being occupied by Turkey.
The so called interim government that is supported by Turkey claimed that this ISIS terrorist was a civilian and has been killed by SDF bombing, this once again clearly reveals the scale of the deliberate misinformation for groups that work for Turkey from Syria, this is an attempt to protect ISIS leadership and present them as a civilian.
The Turkish-occupied areas remain a safe place for ISIS leaders, the presence Osama al-Janabi in a settlement in Afrin shows the extent of Turkey's involvement in supporting terrorism.

Northern Kurdistan (Turkey): Major fire destroys 1000 hectares of agriculture

Yesterday at 7 p.m. a fire broke out in fields between the provinces of Amed (Turkish: Diyarbakir) and Mêrdîn (Mardin). The flames quickly spread across agricultural land. According to the fire department, around 1000 hectares burned down and countless farm animals died.

The fire was caused by sparks coming from a dilapidated electricity pylon, according to the fire department. According to residents, the nearby, mostly Kurdish villages had been calling on the state-owned electricity company to replace the power lines for years - to no avail.

The mayors of the affected districts accuse the Turkish authorities of doing nothing about the fire for hours. It was only at 2 a.m. and at dawn that fire-fighting helicopters are said to have been deployed for the first time. At least four men between the ages of 17 and 20 died trying to extinguish the fire on their own, and 44 people were injured.

URGENT PRESS RELEASE

Turkish occupation escalates long-term war with regional and global implications

The recent escalation of Turkey’s military presence in Iraqi Kurdistan under the pretext of fighting PKK guerrillas is a blatant violation of Iraqi sovereignty and a threat to regional stability. Turkey’s deployment of tanks, soldiers and checkpoints deep inside Iraqi Kurdish territory is a clear attempt to occupy Iraqi Kurdistan. This will lead to an escalation of the long-term war with regional and global implications.

The aggressive actions of the Turkish military, including setting up checkpoints, interrogating road users, and emptying villages, demonstrates a de facto occupation of the region that undermines the sovereignty of Iraq and the Kurdish people. The reported deployment of hundreds of tanks and armored vehicles – along with the establishment of military bases – raises serious concerns about Turkey’s intentions in the region.

Resentment of people in occupied areas against Turkish occupation

Since this afternoon, the occupied cities of Bab, Azaz and Afrin have been witnessing protests against the Turkish presence in response to racist practices against Syrians, in particular the attack on Syrian families last Sunday in Kayseri, and the protest against the recent rapprochement between Ankara and Damascus.

According to sources, protesters blocked the main road in al-Bab in front of a number of Turkish trucks and attacked and damaged them, as shown in videos on social media.

Other footage also showed protesters bringing down the Turkish flag from a Turkish “Civil Registry Building” in Azaz, and protesters expelling employees of the Turkish post office in the occupied town of Rajo.

In Afrin, mercenary activists reported that dozens of demonstrators demanding the departure of the Turkish governor from the city were fired upon, in front of the “Seraya” building and the city’s municipality, without information about casualties.
