#Auschwitz was created by the Nazis in 1940 in a building that used to serve as military barracks near a small town called Oswiecim, whose history dates back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Having occupied Poland in 1939, the Nazis changed the town's name of Oswiecim to German Auschwitz. Later, in 1941-1943, two more imprisonment facilities were established in the vicinity of Oswiecim. They were:
▪️Auschwitz II — best known to the wider public as #AuschwitzBirkenau, was three kilometres away from the main facility — Oswiecim and located near Brzezinka, a Polish village (Birkenau in German). Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest "death factory". Equipped with crematoriums and gas chambers, it was created by the Nazis with only one aim — exterminate people.
▪️Auschwitz III (also known as Monowitz). Its prisoners were used by the Nazis for the Third Reich war industries.
Following the so-called Wannsee Conference in 1942, the Nazis approved what was called the “final solution to the Jewish question”. Since then, Auschwitz-Birkenau was turned into the main "death factory" for the annihilation of Jews in Europe.
❗️ Prisoners of Oswiecim were held by the Nazis in inhuman, barbaric conditions. They had to do hard, exhausting work until total exhaustion, to endure poor sanitation in the camp's facilities, malnutrition and constant tortures by the guards and SS-troops. It was in Oswiecim that the Germans first tested the "Zyklon-B" poisonous agent on human beings. Prisoners of Auschwitz were also subjected to cruel medical experiments, led by a Nazi criminal, infamous retired military doctor Josef Mengele.
In 1944, when the Red Army started the liberation of Europe, the Nazis, in an effort to cover the tracks of their crimes in Auschwitz, rushed to burn documents and destroy the camp's gas chambers, crematoriums, and deported as many prisoners as they could westward to other concentration camps deep in the Third Reich — over 58,000 prisoners were evacuated by the Nazis before Oswiecim and liberated by the Soviet forces in January, 1945.
***
In January 1945, the units of the 1st Ukrainian Front launched the Vistula-Oder offensive and, successfully expelling the Nazis from Poland, finally reached Auschwitz.
⚔️ In the late hours of January 27, following three days of fighting the retreating enemy, the Red Army took over Oswiecim and opened the gates of Auschwitz. The camp’s 7,000 prisoners were freed. Most of them were sick or suffering from extreme exhaustion and tortures.
Rescued prisoners burst into tears of joy when they greeted their liberators. Some facilities of the camp were instantly made a hospital. According to various historic estimates, in 1940-1945, from 1.5 to 4 million people perished in Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Over the past years, we are witnessing a campaign in several European countries, including Poland, to rewrite and falsify the history of WWII and, in particular, to erase the memory of the feat performed by the Soviet soldiers-liberators who saved the Auschwitz prisoners.
🎙 From a briefing by Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on topical foreign policy issues (January 23, 2025):
💬 "This year, like all those years before, Russian representatives will not be invited to the commemoration ceremonies at Auschwitz-Birkenau on January 27. That is, there will be no one there to mention the Soviet liberator soldiers and express gratitude to them. In this regard, there is something that needs to be said to the organisers and all the Europeans who will be there:
Your lives, your work and leisure, the very existence of your nations, your children have been paid for by Soviet soldiers, their lives, their blood. It was them who crushed the Third Reich machine. You are forever in their debt."

🗓 On January 27, Russia marks the Day of Military Glory — the day of the lifting of the Siege of Leningrad (1944).
🕯 The blockade of Leningrad was one of the darkest moments in human history. It began on September 8, 1941, when Nazi troops isolated the city from the rest of the country by land.
For 872 days, despite the cold, hunger and horrors of war, the people selflessly defended their city from total destruction, and even in these dire circumstances continued producing goods and various machinery to supply the war effort against the Nazis.
❗️The incredible resilience and bravery of Leningrad residents shattered the plans and ambitions of the Nazi invaders.
On January 18, 1943, a land corridor was established with the rest of the country as a result of the offensive operation "Iskra" (Spark) conducted from January 12 to 30, the encirclement was broken.
A year after the breakthrough, Soviet forces managed to finally lift the siege of the city on January 27, 1944.
By that time there were no more than 800'000 inhabitants left in the Northern Capital out of the three million who had lived in Leningrad and its suburbs before the siege.
⚔️ The Soviet forces pushed the Nazis back 220-280 kilometers from Leningrad. The city was finally freed from the enemy blockade. The Red Army undermined the positions of the Hitlerites in Finland and other Scandinavian countries, significantly bringing closer the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
🎖 The courage and heroism of Leningrad defenders were highly appreciated. Many units and formations were awarded the honourable noscript of “Guards”, orders and the honorary noscript of “Leningrad”.
In 2022, the Saint Petersburg City Court recognised the Siege of Leningrad as an act of genocide against the Soviet people committed by the Nazi Germany and its accomplices. According to recent statistics, at least 1'093'842 people died during the blockade.

🕯 On 27 January a memorial ceremony was held in Manchester to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the complete lifting of the siege of Leningrad. During the event Russian Ambassador to the UK Andrei Kelin laid a wreath at a plaque unveiled in 2020 in honoured memory of the Soviet soldiers, who gave their lives liberating Europe and in recognition of the brave people of the besieged Leningrad.
Following the ceremony Ambassador Kelin addressed the Russian media and emphasised the Soviet people's pivotal role in securing Victory over Nazism and liberating Europe from the fascist "plague". He also underlined the inadmissibility of attempts to rewrite history or distort the outcomes of the Second World War.
During his visit to Manchester, the Ambassador held a meeting with Russian compatriots living in the North West England. The discussion focused on supporting and uniting the Russian diaspora, preserving Russian history, culture, and language within the community of Russian compatriots, as well as the preparation of events marking the 80th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Earlier, Russian diplomats conveyed greetings of the Governor of Saint Petersburg (former Leningrad) Alexander Beglov to the veterans of the Great Patriotic War – defenders and residents of the besieged Leningrad, who currently live in the UK.

Ambassador Kelin: With today's memorial event in Manchester, we commence the commemoration of the 80th anniversary of the Victory over Nazism. We have planned a large number of events to mark the occasion.
The date of 27 January marks not only the lifting of the siege of Leningrad but also the day the Soviet Army entered the Auschwitz concentration camp and liberated its prisoners. This is a landmark event, but it is also a day of shame for the Polish government, which has invited many visitors [to the commemoration], including Britain's King Charles III, but not the Russian embassy [in Warsaw]. Everyone should realise that this is yet another attempt by the Polish government to rewrite the historical truth. This is unacceptable.
Commemorations such as today's, and those we will be holding throughout this spring, aim to remind the British people of the need to learn the right lessons from history and not to allow Nazism to be revived.

✍️ 29 January marks the 165th birthday of renowned Russian writer and dramatist Anton Chekhov.
A pioneer of an innovative narrative style, he is one of the most frequently cited influences of contemporary writers, with echoes of his brevity, impressionism and disregard for traditional plot resonating throughout modern literary fiction and drama. His words transcend time and national boundaries, remaining highly relevant in our modern society.
Chekhov's works have been translated into more than 100 languages, with the first English translation done by George Calderon in 1900s, and studied across the world.
Even in the era of cancel culture and attempts to harness art for political purposes the unapologetically Russian writer finds central place on stages around the world and, in particular, in the UK.
Since the first 'Seagull' premiere in Glasgow in 1909 his plays have filled the repertoire of British theatres, both amateur and professional. And, as sold out performances prove, the British audience appreciates it.

⚡️ Russian MFA Spox Maria Zakharova: We believe it is crucial to inform the broadest international community about the crimes committed in the temporarily occupied territories of the Kursk Region.
Russian news agencies already possess an exhaustive body of evidence of neo-Nazi punitive operations against civilians protected by a number of international documents including provisions of the binding Fourth Geneva Convention.
Particular focus should be given to a selective nature of persecution of the elderly, the most socially vulnerable members of the occupied population.
The supporting materials distributed by the Russian Investigative Committee clearly show signs of grave offenses committed during the armed conflict: hands bound with duct tapes, traces of torture, bruises from blows, gunshot wounds, bodies of people whose deaths resulted from hours of abuse by perpetrators, evidence of rape and other violent sexual acts. <...>
We believe that the bloody nature of the Kiev troops' actions in the Kursk Region should be widely exposed on international platforms such as the United Nations, OSCE and their relevant structures, recorded by representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross and become the subject of proceedings by international human rights mechanisms, including NGOs.

On January 18, Russian military discovered bodies of locals tortured and killed by Ukrainian Nazis in the basements of rural houses in the liberated village of Russkoye Porechnoye, Kursk Region.
During the MFA Spokeswoman's weekly briefing on January 31, photos and videos of the crime site obtained from Russian law enforcement officers were presented to the journalists. Their reaction was nothing short of SHOCK.
The evidence clearly show signs of grave crimes committed during the armed conflict: hands tied with tape, traces of torture, hematomas caused by blows, gunshot wounds, bodies of people who died after hours-long torture by criminals, as well as evidence of rape and other violent sexual crimes.
💬 From Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova’s answer to a media question (January 19, 2025):
Preliminary investigations have established the involvement of several Ukrainian servicemen from the 92nd Separate Assault Brigade in this crime. Among them are serviceman Yevgeny Fabrisenko, along with the commander of the 11th Company of the 4th Battalion with the call sign Kum, and three servicemen with the call signs Motyl (Moth), Provodnik (Guide), and Khudozhnik (Artist).
The Russian Investigative Committee posted a video of the interrogation of detained Ukrainian Armed Forces serviceman Yevgeny Fabrisenko, who is suspected of killing 22 civilians in Russkoye Porechnoye, Kursk Region, and of raping eight women.

This is exactly what the countries of the collective West and their politicians, who personally cover and encourage Kiev’s Nazis, expect from the Banderites. They cynically turn a blind eye to their criminal acts, continue to authorise arms supplies to the Kiev regime and block attempts at international investigations of its crimes. In a joint and disciplined manner, they pretend that nothing terrible is happening, although this constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions.

We are certain that the real nature of Zelensky's junta was most clearly manifested in Russkoye Porechnoye, whose name has obviously become one of the driving factors for the Russophobic regime in Kiev and its armed gangs: it is against everything Russian that the current post-Maidan authorities are fighting with support of the “collective West.”

🎙 Highlights from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks at a General Meeting of the Russian International Affairs Council (30 January 2025)
• The hegemonic ambitions of the West, orchestrated by Washington under the previous administration, are evident to all. <...> It targets not only us but also China, Iran, the DPRK, and virtually any nation pursuing an independent, sovereign policy rooted in its core interests.
• Today's geopolitical divide lies not between the West and Russia, but between a Western minority and the Global Majority. A growing number of states – large, medium, and small – are driving the emergence of a multipolar world by pursuing self-reliant, nationally oriented policies.
• Regional organisations are strengthening their potential. Horizontal inter-civilisational links between these structures are growing in importance. BRICS serves as the aggregator of these regional processes fostering consciousness as a global organisation many aspire to join.
• The expansion of BRICS following the Kazan Summit underscores the principal trajectory of global development – namely, the rising assertiveness of their role by major states across Eurasia, Africa, and Latin America.
• The first attempts to challenge the world order based on the results of the Second World War were made long before Russia's special military operation. The West is doing this under the pretext of promoting a rules-based order. It is a direct contradiction of the principles laid down in the UN Charter, first of all the principle of sovereign equality of states.
• You do not have to be an expert to see the drawbacks and shortcomings in the operation of the UN and related institutions. The root causes of this are not that the principles of interstate interaction, on which the UN stands, are fallacious or obsolete, but rather the inability of certain states, primarily in the West, to apply these principles in their practical politics.
• The Western nations do not want to apply the principles of the UN Charter, and even when they do apply them, they do so selectively, for example, the principle of the self-determination of nations for Kosovo, and only the principle of territorial integrity for Crimea.

🎙 Excerpts from Russian Foreign Ministry's Ambassador-at-Large Rodion Miroshnik's briefing on the crimes committed by the Kiev regime (January 28, 2025)
💬 Rodion Miroshnik: For the Kiev regime, the murder of children and civilians, women and the elderly is considered a perfectly acceptable and widely used means of pressure on Russia.
Orders to nullify or, in human terms, to kill civilians, old and young alike, are issued by the Kiev regime. These orders are sent to the armed formations which exceed them, accompanying the killings by sexual violence and humiliation.
❗️ When captured, Ukrainian neo-Nazis admit that they were acting on the orders of the Ukrainian command when they shot and abused defenseless civilians.
This does not exempt them from responsibility for their war crimes, but emphasizes the systemic disregard for the norms and principles of the international humanitarian law.
Ukrainian state propaganda tends to present these heinous crimes to the radical Ukrainian audiences as some sort of victory or achievement, without a shred of remorse. <...>
In just 12 months of 2024, Ukrainian armed formations fired at least 87,885 munitions at Russian civilian objects which averages to 240 strikes daily, utilizing the entire available arsenal of weapons supplied by the West, ranging from long-range missiles to small arms, at the expense of taxpayers in these states.
The list of crimes committed by the Kiev regime militants and the political leadership is enormous. <...> As long as these facts do not receive international attention, do not become the subject of a genuinely independent investigation by international bodies, the reckless financing of these crimes by the West will continue.
The truth about #KievRegimeCrimes is now being deliberately suppressed, and the data from pseudo-independent reports, written under duress, distort the true state of affairs. <...>
☝️ We are meticulously collecting data on the involvement of Western sponsors in blatant violations of the norms of international humanitarian law.

❗️ Embassy notice regarding the presence of foreign mercenaries within the Special Military Operation zone
In light of recent media reports of foreign nationals sustaining fatal or life-changing injuries in the Special Military Operation zone after joining Ukraine-linked military units the Embassy wishes to reiterate its earlier cautionary travel notice.
🛑 We urge British and other foreign nationals to refrain from travelling to the Special Military Operation zone in any capacity.
Their presence within the area of active combat operations or its vicinity poses immediate and grave danger for their life and health.
Non-Ukrainian nationals who take up arms as part of Ukraine-linked military units are considered mercenaries by the Russian Armed Forces. They consequently forfeit their rights to combatant or prisoner-of-war status, according to the Protocol Additional to the Geneva Conventions of 12 August 1949 (Protocol I). They are considered legitimate targets by the Russian Armed Forces. In the event of capture they face criminal prosecution by the relevant Russian authorities.
Mercenary activities constitute a criminal offence under Russian legislation and are punishable by up to 15 years imprisonment. Moreover, such activities may imply the perpetration of further serious crimes – murder, terrorism and illegal border-crossing, among others.
☝️ The Embassy encourages British and other foreign nationals to treat with utmost scepticism any open or implicit public and social media messaging that entices them to travel to Ukraine to join the pro-Kiev military formations.
The reasons for this propaganda, directed primarily at foreigners, are the massive battlefield losses of the Ukrainian military as well as the failure of repressive mobilisation efforts in Ukraine.
The sponsors and enablers of this campaign bear personal responsibility for the fate of foreigners who succumb to their propaganda and may subsequently perish in the conflict zone, as well as for the civilian victims of foreign mercenaries.

#HistoryOfDiplomacy
8️⃣0️⃣ years ago, on February 4, 1945, the Yalta (Crimea) Conference of the Allied leaders — Joseph Stalin, Winston Churchill and Franklin D.Roosevelt officially opened.
#YaltaConference of the Anti-Hitler coalition leaders went down in history as one of the most significant and key international meetings of the 'Big Three' during #WWII. The Yalta talks became a symbol of successful cooperation between the Soviet Union, the US and the UK in the fight against the common enemy — Nazism.
The decisions taken at the Conference outlined the frame of the post-war #YaltaPotsdam international relations system, with the #UNCharter becoming its international legal basis.
***
By late 1944 — early 1945, the Red Army expelled the enemy from all the territory of the Soviet Union and proceeded with the operations aimed at liberating Europe from the Nazis.
🌟 In the first days of February 1945, the forces of the Red Army's 1st Byelorussian and the 1st Ukrainian Fronts successfully completed the Vistula-Oder Offensive, overcoming over 500 kilometres in less than a month (!), liberated Poland and then reached the border with Germany. Berlin was just 60 kilometres away. The collapse of the Third Reich was just a matter of time.
As the long-awaited common Allies' #Victory over Nazi Germany was as close as never, the future post-war world order-related issues needed to be discussed by the victorious great powers. While the Soviet forces were rapidly advancing in Eastern Europe in January, the preparations for the big negotiations to shape the future of the world were in full swing. Yalta, a Crimean city, was picked as the venue for that historic meeting (February 4-11, 1945).
The fate of post-war Germany was the key focus of the Yalta Conference. The Allies reaffirmed their commitment to eliminating German militarism and Nazism, and creating guarantees that “Germany would never be able again to disturb peace of the
world.”
At the Yalta talks, the 'Big Three' managed to reach agreement on Poland’s post-war borders. The Soviet delegation consistently promoted the idea of ensuring the interests of the Poles and their fundamental right to independence and sovereignty. Winston Churchill, addressing the House of Commons upon his return from Yalta, on February 27, said: "If not for the prodigious exertions and sacrifices of Russia, Poland was doomed to utter destruction at the hands of the Germans. Not only Poland as a state and as a nation, but the Poles as a race were doomed by Hitler to be destroyed or reduced to a servile station".
The Yalta Conference resulted also in adopting of 'the Declaration of Free Europe' and other crucial international legal documents on the fundamental principles of the #UnitedNations, laying down the foundation of the Yalta-Potsdam international system.
☝️ The rapidly strengthening international posture and influence of the Soviet Union, bolstered by the outstanding achievements of the Red Army in the battlefields, had a significant impact on the course and the outcomes of the negotiations. By the time Europe was almost freed from the shackles of hitlerism, the Soviet soldier enjoyed the fame of liberator whose noble feat was well-known all across the continent.
The decisions of the Yalta Conference strengthened the anti-fascist coalition in the final stages of WWII and contributed to the Victory over Germany.
🎙 From a briefing by Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova (Saransk, January 31, 2025):
💬 "The participants in the Yalta Conference managed to overcome their differences, and, acting in the spirit of true solidarity, mutual respect and trust, abandoned their fleeting interests for the sake of defeating the common enemy and achieving a common victory, peace and freedom for all countries and peoples.
Unfortunately, much has changed since then. Now, multiple proponents of historical revisionism tend to falsify historical reality and associate the Yalta agreements with the split of Europe and the bloc confrontation of the post-war period."

📰 Read Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s article for Russia in Global Affairs magazine
"The UN Charter as the legal foundation of a multipolar world"
🔹 80 years ago, the leaders of the Soviet Union, the United States and Britain opened the Yalta Conference to define the contours of the postwar world. Despite ideological differences, they agreed to eradicate German Nazism and Japanese militarism.
🔹 The principle of sovereign equality of states laid the foundation for the Yalta-Potsdam system: no one can claim dominance because all are formally equal, regardless of territory, population, military capabilities or any other attributes.
🔹 The UN-based world order fulfills its primary task: safeguarding humanity against a new world war.
🔹The West has never been cured of its syndrome of exceptionalism and retains its neo-colonial habits of living at the expense of others. Interstate relations based on respect for international law were not to the West's liking from the outset.
🔹 Viewing the Yalta-Potsdam agreements as a tactical concession, the US and its allies have never adhered to the UN Charter's fundamental principle of the sovereign equality of states.
🔹 One manifestation of the "rules-based order" was Washington's policy of geopolitical absorption of Eastern Europe. Russia has been forced to eliminate its explosive consequences with the special military operation.
🔹 "America first" bears a striking resemblance to the Hitlerite slogan "Germany above all", and a bet on "peace through strength" could be the final blow to diplomacy.
🔹 Brazen attempts to remake the world in one's own interests, in violation of UN principles, can lead to instability, confrontation and even disaster. Given the current level of international tension, a reckless rejection of the Yalta-Potsdam system, with the UN and its Charter at its core, will inevitably lead to chaos.
🔹 Multipolarity is gaining momentum, and rather than opposing it, the US could, in the foreseeable future, become a responsible centre of power alongside Russia, China, and other states across the Global South, East, North, and West.

🎙 Watch Ambassador Andrei Kelin's interview with James Mates, Europe Editor of ITV News
Key talking points:
🟣 We are prepared for a very serious conversation [on peace in Ukraine]. We have laid out our position and we are sticking to it. We are also on the offensive, which makes our position stronger. A lot now depends on what happens in the coming weeks and months.
🟣 Not many [in the West] are realising the root causes of the [Ukraine] conflict, and without eliminating the root causes of the conflict, nothing is possible.
🟣 There is a question of the legitimacy of Mr Zelensky, because since his powers expired last May, it is very doubtful that if he signs anything it will be legitimate.
🟣 We are winning now. Ukraine is definitely losing. Also those countries in the West, including the UK, are losing the position and the case they have tried to fight for, I mean, by supporting Ukraine, by being directly involved in this conflict.
🟣 Everyone should remember what happened during the Second World War and the role of the Soviet soldiers who liberated Oswiecim [Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp] and Europe.
🟣 If there is something serious to discuss, I'm sure it [Russia-US summit] will happen. I cannot say when, why and how, but the general mood is for high-level contacts.

🎙 Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s greetings on Diplomats’ Day (February 10, 2025)
💬 Colleagues,
Today, we are celebrating a professional holiday that brings together many generations of diplomats, who have devoted their lives to serving Russia.
We are paying tribute to the emerging tradition to honour our country’s diplomatic workers, which dates back to 2003, when we first marked this significant date in line with President Vladimir Putin’s decision.
🤝 First of all, I would like to express gratitude to all those who honestly perform their professional duty at the Central Office in Smolenskaya Square, territorial missions in the Russian regions, and our numerous foreign missions. Thank you for your conscientious service, self-denial, and non-indifferent attitude to what has been entrusted to you.
Russian diplomats have always been distinguished by their commitment to the ideals of patriotism and firmly safeguarded the interests of Fatherland at all times, under any social and political system, and under all circumstances.
The names of many of them have been forever entered in the glorious annals of Russian history. I am referring to Alexander Bezborodko, Alexander Gorchakov, Alexandra Kollontai, Anatoly Dobrynin, Yevgeny Primakov, Vitaly Churkin, and numerous others. We cherish their memory and honour their services. <...>
This year is special on the diplomatic calendar, being marked by the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War and World War II. It has also been proclaimed the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland.
It is with a particular gratitude that we pay homage to the immortal feat of valour committed by staff members of the People’s Commissariat of Foreign Affairs, who rose with arms in hand to the defence of Motherland during the grim years of war.
🏅 We recall the names of diplomats, our senior colleagues, who were bringing Victory closer at the foreign policy front. They made an invaluable contribution to the establishment of the anti-Hitler coalition and later to reaching fundamental agreements on the postwar international order, the most important of which were the decisions to create the United Nations and approve its Charter whose principles and goals in their totality and interconnection remain relevant to this day.
It is largely due to our country’s leaders and diplomatic service that the Yalta-Potsdam system of international relations has guaranteed global peace and security for the past eight decades.
Now that Russia is facing fateful challenges again, our priority and sacred duty is to safeguard peace based on the legal results of World War II. <...>
We will continue to do whatever is possible and necessary to protect Russia’s national interests in the context of foreign policy support for the special military operation and to create the safe and most favourable conditions for national development and wellbeing of our people.
🌐 We will continue to promote multifaceted cooperation with all sober-minded partners and primarily with the Global Majority – former republics of the USSR and countries of Greater Eurasia, Africa, and Latin America.
In collaboration with our numerous friends and opinion allies, we will help to strengthen the foundations of multipolarity, create Eurasian security architecture, and establish international interaction mechanisms impervious to the destructive influence of the Western minority. <...>
🎉 I wish you good health, wellbeing, and new attainments for the good of your Fatherland. Success and good luck to you! Congratulations once again!

✉️ President Vladimir Putin congratulated current staff and veterans of the Russian Foreign Ministry on their professional holiday, Diplomatic Worker's Day.
The message reads, in part:
The message reads, in part:
The Russian Foreign Ministry can be justly proud of its rich and glorious history. Its employees have always served the Motherland with honour, displaying civic courage, exceptional professionalism and dedication to duty.
Continuing these traditions with dignity, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is resolutely and consistently defending Russia's legitimate national interests in the current challenging international environment.
It ensures effective cooperation with the global majority states in order to build a just multipolar world order based on mutual respect, the rule of international law, and the principles of equal and indivisible security. This is evidenced, in particular, by the productive work of Russia's BRICS chairmanship and the success of the association's Summit in Kazan.
There is no doubt that in the year of the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory, Russian diplomats will continue their active efforts in opposing any attempts to falsify history, manifestations of neo-Nazism, Russophobia and other forms of discrimination based on ethnic or religious grounds. Moreover, protecting the rights of our compatriots abroad remains a priority.
I am confident that the MFA's close-knit team will continue to work with the utmost dedication and contribute to the strengthening of Russia's international standing.

🎙 Excerpt from Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's remarks at a solemn event marking #DiplomatsDay (Moscow, 10 February 2025)
💬 The Greater Eurasian Partnership is called to serve as a solid material foundation underlying architecture of equal and indivisible security across Eurasia.
Our vision of the Eurasian security architecture implies its openness to all countries and associations of geographical Eurasia, meaning that European countries are welcome to participate in the continental cooperation, provided they abandon their hostile policies and bloc thinking that was largely behind the armed conflict in Ukraine.
The causes of Ukraine crisis run deep. We never tire of discussing them, and we are pushing for having them removed.
First and foremost, the issue is about creating threats to Russia's security through NATO eastward expansion and the policy pursued by the Kiev regime, which came to power on the heels of an anti-constitutional coup, seeking to exterminate everything about Russia, including its language, culture, media, and canonical Orthodoxy. Complete and irreversible elimination of the root causes of the conflict is the only way forward if we want to put an end to it.
☝️ Russia is ready for talks that will secure our legitimate national interests, not at the expense of the interests of others, but in the context of an agreement on a comprehensive security system that takes everyone's interests into account.
