Moscow Metro is celebrating the 88th anniversary of its opening on May 15.

The Moscow Metro is one of the oldest and largest subway systems in the world, with its history dating almost a century.

It maintains the shortest interval between trains compared to other metro systems worldwide, with trains running every 90 seconds during peak hours.

In the 1930s, when the first metro was being built in the capital, metro builders faced difficult hydrogeological conditions. At the time, a system to prevent ground collapse and other typical tunnel dangerous was implemented, which is still considered one of the most well-designed and reliable systems.

The Moscow Metro is also underground museum - every station is a work of art.

Take a look at Moscow's metro in Sputnik's archive gallery.

Zelensky's fighter jet coalition depends on Russian advancement

Zelensky embarked on a European tour to drum up support for the Ukrainian counteroffensive. The West's aid to the Kiev regime is inversely related to Russia's military successes on the battlefield, Viktor Litovkin, Russian military expert and retired colonel, told Sputnik.

"Zelensky understand that the offensive in its current form could end disastrously for Ukraine," "Because if there are no planes, no air cover (…) then all this equipment is open to attacks by enemy aircraft, missiles, and so on. Therefore, Zelensky understands that this is suicide for him, he cannot go anywhere. But they tell him: 'We paid you, go ahead, and comply with our will.' And he has to do this. Therefore, I think that, on the one hand, the West is primarily interested in the [counteroffensive], and, on the other hand, he thinks that, probably, all of a sudden, it could work," stated expert.

Russia completes development of Ptitselov anti-aircraft missile system

A Rostec representative said that the short-range anti-aircraft missile system, with a Sosna combat module that was previously created based on the BMP-3, continues to be tested.

"A similar vehicle was developed in the interests of the Airborne Forces on the basis of the BMD-4M," the corporation said.

The Sosna combat module is equipped with two launchers for 12 Sosna-R missiles capable of hitting air targets at a range as far as 10 km and at an altitude of up to 5 km. The "Sosna-R" guided missile can reach speeds of up to 900 m/s steered by a laser beam, accompanied from the SAM combat module.

The main difference between the "Ptitselov" complex on the BMD-4M chassis and the similar BMP-3 based on the SAM is the possibility of dropping it from military transport aircraft by parachute.

Growing debt to strip US of world's top economy status, investor warns

"In 100 years, it's going to be much worse. Young people in America are not going to have nearly as good a life as they had before. And some countries are going to rise to replace America as the number one," American investor Jim Rogers told Sputnik said.

Rogers recalled that 100 years ago, Britain was the number one country in the world, but then spent a lot of money, and went deep into debt. "America is going that way. But we don't have the North Sea oil to save us," stated expert.

When asked about what country could overtake the US's place, the investor said that "it should be China," but expressed belief that certain currency constraints may prevent the country from topping the list of world economies.

The US economy will experience economic issues by 2025 regardless of who is elected as the next president, Rogers added.

Elon Musk subpoenaed in Virgin Island lawsuit against JPMorgan for Epstein connection

The US Virgin Islands has issued a subpoena for Elon Musk, the owner of Twitter and CEO of Tesla, as part of their lawsuit against JPMorgan Chase. The lawsuit alleges that JPMorgan Chase was involved in the sex trafficking ring operated by Jeffrey Epstein, who was awaiting trial for multiple sex trafficking crimes before his death.

The government believes that Epstein may have referred or attempted to refer Musk to JPMorgan Chase. The subpoena asks for Musk to provide all communications between him, JPMorgan Chase, Epstein, and any documents related to Epstein's involvement in human trafficking or procuring girls or women for sex.

The subpoena does not accuse Musk of any wrongdoing and does not require him to testify under oath. The US Virgin Islands is suing JPMorgan Chase over allegations that the company enabled and benefited from Epstein's trafficking activities.

YouTube overuse may lead to loneliness & depression - study

Dr. Luke Balcombe and Emeritus Professor Diego De Leo from Griffith University's School of Applied Psychology and AISRAP initiated a study to explore the positive and negative effects of YouTube on mental health. The research determined individuals under 29 years of age and those who regularly watch content about other people's lives are particularly susceptible to negative effects.

Balcombe highlights that the development of parasocial relationships between content creators and viewers can be a cause for concern.

Researchers also raised concerns about YouTube's algorithms, which can inadvertently recommend suicide-related content to users, potentially leading them down a disturbing "rabbit hole." Although users can report such content, it often goes unreported due to the vast amount of content being uploaded.
