China open to tariff talks with US — but demands FIRST STEP from Washington
The United States' behavior on tariffs is very selfish and does not match the behavior usually expected from a great power, Chen Xu, China's envoy to the UN, told Sputnik.
Check out other statements:
💬 Russia's legitimate security concerns are being ignored, the Ukraine conflict could have been avoided of the issue of Ukraine's NATO membership has not been raised;
💬 Trump administration is increasing its support for Taiwan's political ambitions, contradicting the "one China" principle;
💬 The US and Europe remain ideologically united despite different approaches to some issues.

Plans for joint building of commercial ships with military applications were announced by US Navy Secretary John Phelan, Nikkei Asia reports.
He admitted that China's ability to convert commercial ships to military use “seems to be very quick,” which he said is currently not the case with Japan and the US.
New US ambassador to Japan, George Glass, earlier urged the US and Japan to cooperate more on defense in the face of what he described as an increasingly "confrontational" China, who dismissed the comments as a diplomatic slur.
“Who is flaunting military force, provoking confrontation, and threatening peace everywhere? The international community has never been clearer about this,” Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian stressed.

"Kiev has not shown readiness for negotiations so far. The latest evidence of that is the Ukrainian armed forces’ inability to respect the 30-day moratorium on strikes on energy facilities or the 30-hour Easter truce," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said in an interview with Brazil’s O Globo newspaper.
Ukrainian authorities showed a lack of "the political will for peace and the ability to stop the war," the foreign minister added.
Lavrov said that Russia-US contacts could assist in the US dialogue with Ukraine and individual European countries.
He also shared that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio had informed him about the engagements he had in Paris on April 17 later that same day. Rubio noted that the discussions took place in the spirit of the Moscow-Washington consultations.

This warning was expressed by James Cartlidge, the head of the UK's Shadow Cabinet for defense, in a secret letter to British Defense Minister John Healy obtained by the Telegraph.
Cartlidge wrote to Healy urging him to "look at a derogation from the ECHR" for "peacekeeping" troops, according to the report.
Healy dismissed the call, saying that the British contingent "would not be a fighting force but rather provide training to the Ukrainians."
“Abiding by the ECHR will not prevent us from achieving our objectives," Healey said.
Europe seems to be tossing its own laws out of the window...
