🇮🇷 Restoring sanctions against Iran to undermine cooperation with IAEA – Iranian Foreign Ministry

💬 "The decision of the E3 [France, Germany and UK] will seriously undermine the current level of interaction and cooperation between Iran and the IAEA [International Atomic Energy Agency]. This provocative and unjustified escalation of the situation will be met with adequate countermeasures from Tehran," the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Telegram.

This follows earlier remarks by Deputy FM Kazem Gharibabadi, who warned that if Europe reactivates sanctions, “the current trajectory of Iran’s cooperation with the IAEA will be interrupted, as further interaction with the agency will lose all meaning.” He added that Europe has “no grounds” to trigger the mechanism.

💥 'Gangster band': Russia slams EU trio over anti-Iran sanctions

👉 Russia has expressed disappointment at the decision of the E3 (France, Germany, and the UK) to trigger the mechanism for restoring sanctions against Iran, Dmitry Polyansky, Russia's deputy permanent representative to the UN, told reporters.

💬 “This disappoints us, because we expected to deal with serious partners, but instead it looks like we’re dealing with some kind of gangster band,” Polyansky said.

🔸 He stressed that Moscow does not recognize any legal grounds for the “snapback” procedure which brought on the sanctions:

“For us, nothing is happening, because we do not recognize the legal basis for such a ‘snapback’.”

🔸 Polyansky also underlined that the E3 rushed ahead without using existing instruments:

“They have not exhausted the mechanisms foreseen by JCPOA, first and foremost, the dispute resolution mechanism. So we do not think that this move by these three countries should entail any action from the council.”
