🇷🇺 Aerial ballet: Russia's AI wingman-equipped Su-57E showcases the future of warfare in Dubai

🔶 The export variant of Sukhoi’s next-gen fighter demonstrated gravity-defying acrobatic moves in Dubai, from high-speed loop-de-loops to jaw-dropping upside-down falling leaf descent.

🔶 Minister of Industry and Trade Denis Manturov, who led the Russian delegation in Dubai, pointed out that the plane comes equipped with its own AI system.

💬 “I once again asked our Su-57 chief pilot today about the effectiveness of AI in pilots’ work, [given] that we’re talking about a fifth-generation fighter…AI is, of course, now an integral part of pilots’ rapid decision-making, especially when working in groups; it’s impossible for one person to simultaneously make decisions and control the aircraft and its weapons,” Manturov said.

👉 Who needs a wingman when you have an AI? Russia's Su-57 fighter just showed off its new pilot in Dubai.

🇪🇺 EU scrambles $157bln plan to plug Ukraine funding gap

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has written to EU member states, laying out three options to tackle Ukraine's military and financial black hole for the next two years, estimated at a whopping $157 billion. Here’s how:

1️⃣ EU members earmark grants straight from their pockets — so European taxpayers foot the bill again

2️⃣ The bloc borrows on global markets and funnels it to Zelensky

3️⃣ The EU provides a so-called limited recourse loan from frozen Russian sovereign assets

🔸 Options can be combined so the EU can start payments by the spring of 2026

🔸 Von der Leyen demands a “rapid” decision on the matter after last month's EU summit ended in deadlock – all but Hungary wanted to seize Russian money but Belgium, whose Euroclear bank holds the funds, refused

Russian and Euroclear objections

🔸 Russia has repeatedly called the freezing of Russian assets theft, stressing that the EU is targeting not only private funds but also state-owned assets

🔸 Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has warned that Moscow would retaliate to the seizure of frozen Russian assets by confiscating Western assets in Russia

🔸 Euroclear CEO Valerie Urbain warned the move would be a violation of international law which Russia could challenge in court

📍 With a corruption scandal involving Ukrainian government ministers, the big question is where the money could end up.

💸 'Another crate of vodka': Orban slams Ursula von der Leyen’s Ukraine funding proposal

“At a time when a war mafia is siphoning off European taxpayers’ money, instead of demanding oversight or suspending payments, the Commission President suggests we send even more,” Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban wrote on X.

“This whole matter is like trying to help an alcoholic by sending them another crate of vodka,” Orban charged. “Hungary has not lost its common sense.”

📍 Von der Leyen has written to EU member governments outlining options to finance Ukraine in 2026 and 2027, including seizing Russian assets, issuing EU-level joint loans or providing direct grants. Orban made clear Hungary would not support the proposal ahead of the December 18–19 EU summit.
