atm, I don't even use timers ... I just have both fan and negative ion generators going all the time.

I sometimes have to air the kitchen (smaller of the two spaces) as it's too full of ions, but that only takes a few seconds/minute or two, every 2-4 days.

One word of advice; don't have the negative ion generator pointing directly at you; fill the void of the room, and then move the latter around using the fan to disperse (otherwise you can smell the ions/(more likely 5% or so ozone) given off. And don't forget to air your space regularly to let some of that ozone escape.
