BREAKING: Supreme Court releases it’s first opinion, in the case of ARELLANO v. MCDONOUGH, SECRETARY OF VETERANS AFFAIRS. This case was about a veteran who was seeking to receive 30 years of retroactive disability benefits. Reminder: “dismissed as improvidently granted” is essentially the Supreme Court’s way of saying “oops, we shouldn’t have taken up the case, we take it back”.
Supreme Court returns for oral arguments next week, in the meantime, they’ve released their full term calendar for the rest of the 2022-2023 oral argument sitting. April 26th is the last day of oral arguments for the term.

It’s Tuesday morning at the Supreme Court, and it’s an argument day. Today the Court will hear a case challenging certain aspects of section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996, which includes company immunity.
In a case called 21-1333 GONZALEZ V. GOOGLE LLC, the Court will answer the following question: “Does section 230(c)(l) immunize interactive computer services when they make targeted recommendations of information provided by another information content provider, or only limit the liability of interactive computer services when they engage in traditional editorial functions (such as deciding whether to display or withdraw) with regard to such information?”

Next opinion, in a 6-3 decision, is from the case HELIX ENERGY SOLUTIONS GROUP, INC., ET AL. v. HEWITT. The case involves the issue of overtime pay when working for more than 40 hours a week on a full time job.
