NHS Tayside has destroyed hard copy theatre logbooks linked to disgraced neurosurgeon Sam Eljamel despite a "do not destroy" order being in place, a public inquiry has heard.

Eljamel was head of neurosurgery at Dundee's Ninewells Hospital from 1995 until his suspension in December 2013.

During that time he is thought to have harmed dozens of patients and left some with life-changing injuries.

Eljamel resigned from his post in May 2014 and is now believed to be operating in Libya.

A GP has appeared in court charged with stalking a woman raped by his son.

Andrew McFarlane, 61, faces claims he caused Ellie Wilson "fear and alarm" by posting a series of offensive, derogatory and abusive comments on a number of social media platforms between October 2023 and October 2025.

His son, Daniel McFarlane, was jailed for five years in 2022 for raping Ms Wilson, who has since become a campaigner for survivors of sexual violence.

Dr McFarlane, a GP in the Highlands, made no plea during a hearing at Inverness Sheriff Court on Tuesday. The case was continued until next month so that Dr McFarlane could obtain legal representation.

Dr McFarlane was reported to the General Medical Council (GMC) over the allegations after he was arrested in August.

It is also claimed Dr McFarlane posted screenshots of private and sexual conversations between his son and Ms Wilson.

Two military personnel have been shot near the White House in Washington DC.

A suspect has been taken into custody, police said.

The condition of the National Guard members is currently not known.

Kevin Spacey is set to face civil trials at the High Court later next year, over separate lawsuits filed by three men who have accused him of sexual assault.

A man called Ruari Cannon, who has waived his right to anonymity, and two other claimants who have not, alleged they were abused by the Hollywood actor at times between 2000 and 2015.

They are taking legal action at the High Court against Spacey, while Mr Cannon is also bringing action against London's Old Vic theatre. The actor was artistic director there between 2004 and 2015.

Spacey, 66, has denied allegations of wrongdoing. He has formally denied two of the claims and is yet to file a defence to the court in the third, which was submitted in September.

Michael Ley, 35, from Dundee admitted repeatedly discharging a crossbow towards three officers to the danger of life and attempting to murder them in March this year.
