It’s just a chill space where I share my thoughts, things I’m learning, mistakes I make, and random dev moments.
I opened this to stay committed, grow, and learn with others.
If you vibe with that, grab your coffee and let’s figure out tech together ☕️💻

Hey guys. Good news👋🏾

We'll be doing a @designweg live episode with @dagmawi_babi .

Hope you guys won't miss it this thursday, january 15. 9:30 pm.

see you :)
Story time:

For the last 4 months, I’ve been working alone on a project at my company.
Now we’re almost at the end, and they’re planning a launch program for the system.

Today, the IT manager called everyone into a meeting to talk about the launch dates, plans, all that stuff.

Then the funny part…
He looks at me and goes:
“You did a good job. I’ll buy you a cake.” 👀

Cake?? 🤨

Bro, I didn’t survive 4 months of stress for dessert. This people never take me seriously
At this point, just help me find a new job 😂😂

The Ghost in the Server: 404

Added a shiny new /settings route to my Express API.
Pushed the code.
CI/CD went green.
Hit the endpoint… 404

So I did the usual ritual:
- Checked folder case-sensitivity (Linux don’t play)
- Verified file paths
- Stared at Nginx configs
Everything looked perfect.

Then the logs whispered the truth:
Error: http.Server.listen() was called more than once

My startup noscript was crashing, so the hosting platform refused to kill the old app.
I wasn’t talking to my new code at all…
I was chatting with a 2-hour-old ghost version of my server

Lesson learned:
If you’re using managed Node.js hosting, don’t hardcode your port in production.
Let the environment handle it unless you enjoy debugging paranormal activity.

I’m officially tired of playing Ghostbusters with servers 😂😂😂

So yeah, today was kind of a rough day.
But one good thing happened: I listened to a podcast with @Dagmawi_Babi (big fan, as always).

They were talking about design, and honestly, it hit me.
AI isn’t great at design yet, and as developers, we at least need to understand what good and bad design look like. As a full-stack developer, I usually focus more on functionality and backend logic, and this made me reflect on my own designs. Definitely something I want to improve going forward.

They also talked about AI and learning and I loved this part. If we use AI wisely for studying, it’s actually a powerful tool. It can help a lot, not replace thinking, but support it.

He also talked about his Telegram channel and that lovely community. And honestly, Babi is one of the most humble people out there. God bless him.

One thing he mentioned that made me laugh : being careful with posts.
So yeah… sorry for spamming you all with my cringey posts lately 😅

You know he posts start with simple stuff like “hi” or “hey guys,” and funny enough, there were days I genuinely felt like he DM’d me…
Don’t make fun of me please 😂

At the end, he mentioned that he loves “Girl with a Pearl Earring.
I love painting too, and I do paint, but it made me think I really wish I knew why he chose that painting as his all-time favorite.

Anyway, it was a really good podcast. I loved it.
Good night, guys 😊
One good thing about today was listening to this podcast, honestly.

Love you all 🥰

Podcast of the week 🎧

I was listening to this Hard Fork podcast episode about Grok on X and the way it’s being misused to create sexualized images of people, even children. Hearing the stories of the victims and their families was deeply upsetting. What makes it worse is how insufficient the response from Elon Musk and the platform has been.

They also discussed vibe coding and the new Claude Code experiments and this part was my favorite. It’s funny, easy to listen to, and at the same time a little scary how powerful these new AI tools are becoming.

The last part was about AI scams, where they debunked a viral Reddit post that used AI-generated “evidence” to fool people. Another reminder of how careful we need to be online.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode especially the Claude Code part. I’d definitely recommend giving it a listen.
I’m planning to continue doing one podcast review per week to stay consistent.

Love you all ❤️

TAMAS ARCHIVED
I have never had a music album that reminds me of a book i once read until now.. This whole album feels  like it was recorded on a random Sunny Sunday morning in a wide living room, with friends sitting in a circle.. if you've read አልተዘዋወረችም by አሌክስ አብርሃም…
I just finished reading አልተዘዋወረችም by Alex Abraham, and I really liked it. What fascinated me most is how the writer tells one history from four different perspectives. Through four characters, we see how the same events can be understood in completely different ways. It makes you realize how complex truth really is, and how important it is to listen to every side before judging what actually happened.

The saddest part for me was the ending. Two people, each with their own love stories, end up married to each other without real love just to continue life, have children, and move on. It feels empty and painful. It made me think about how many people live like this in real life, and that honestly scares me.

Love you all 🥰

Failed project

You know I love music, and I’ve always wanted to build my own playlists.

I usually use Spotify, but the ads make me really uncomfortable. So I tried Telegram music bots.
They work, but:
- ads everywhere
- “join 3 random groups to download”
- suddenly I’m in a crypto channel I never asked for

So I thought:
Why not build my own simple Telegram bot?
A bot that downloads music from YouTube, converts it to audio, and lets me organize playlists by category.

I started building it and honestly, it worked perfectly locally.

But when I hosted it on Render, everything broke.

Turns out YouTube has very strict restrictions now. Render’s IP addresses are already flagged and banned by YouTube, so the bot stopped working completely. It wasn’t a code issue it was the platform.

So yeah, the project failed.

But I learned about bots, hosting, and how YouTube treats developers like suspicious criminals.

Sometimes projects don’t fail because you’re wrong they fail because the internet said no.

On to the next idea 😌
