'Alī ibn Al-Madīnī reported that Sufyān said:
ولقد أَنْبَأَنَا مُحَمَّد بْن عثمان العقبي حَدَّثَنَا الرمادي حَدَّثَنَا علي بْن المديني حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَان قَالَ

I asked Mis’ar if he would have liked it if a man told him about his deficiencies.
قلت لمسعر تحب أن يخبرك رجل بعيوبك

He answered: If he is to scold me, no.
قَالَ أما أن يجيء إنسان فيوبخني بها فلا

And if he is to advise me, yes.
وأما أن يجيء ناصح فنعم

Allāh says about the poor who want to marry: “If they be poor, Allâh will enrich them out of His Bounty.” (24:32)
أَمَّا التَّزْوِيجُ، فَفِي قَوْلِهِ هُنَا: إِنْ يَكُونُوا فُقَرَاءَ يُغْنِهِمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ.

The Prophet ﷺ said in a hadīth: 'O young men! You should marry, for indeed it helps in lowering the gaze and protecting the private parts.' [Jāmi at-Tirmidhi #1081]
كَمَا بَيَّنَهُ النَّبِيُّ - صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ - فِي الْحَدِيثِ الصَّحِيحِ «: يَا مَعْشَرَ الشَّبَابِ، مَنِ اسْتَطَاعَ مِنْكُمُ الْبَاءَةَ فَلْيَتَزَوَّجْ، فَإِنَّهُ أَغَضُّ لِلْبَصَرِ وَأَحْصَنُ لِلْفَرْجِ» الْحَدِيثَ،

So this is the one who with his marriage intends to obey Allāh through lowering the gaze and protecting the private part (will be enriched by Allāh).
وَإِذَا كَانَ قَصْدُهُ بِالتَّزْوِيجِ طَاعَةَ اللَّهِ بِغَضِّ الْبَصَرِ وَحِفْظِ الْفَرْجِ، فَالْوَعْدُ بِالْغِنَى إِنَّمَا هُوَ عَلَى طَاعَةِ اللَّهِ بِذَلِكَ.

Makki ibn Ibrāhīm said:
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ الْفَضْلِ الْقَطَّانُ , أنا دَعْلَجُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ الْمُعَدِّلُ , أنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْأَبَّارُ , ثنا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ حَازِمٍ أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ الْبَلْخِيُّ , قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ مَكِّيَّ بْنَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ , يَقُولُ:

Shu'bah said to Imran ibn Hudayr:
كَانَ شُعْبَةُ يَأْتِي عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُدَيْرٍ يَقُولُ:

“O Imran, come let us backbite for a period for in the way of Allāh 'azza wa ja'al.”
«يَا عِمْرَانُ , تَعَالَ حَتَّى نَغْتَابَ سَاعَةً فِي اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ»

And they would mention the weaknesses of narrators.

Yahyā ibn Al-Mukhtār reported that Al-Hasan al-Basrī said: “The believer is a part of the believer and the reflection of his brother. If he sees something with him that he does not like, he corrects him and advises him openly and secretly.”

It is however obligatory to condemn the one who shows his innovation unlike the person who covers it and hides it.
وَجَبَ الْإِنْكَارُ عَلَيْهِ بِخِلَافِ مَنْ أَخْفَاهَا، وَكَتَمَهَا،

Since it is obligatory to condemn this one, one does it for example by boycotting him until he refrains from showing his innovation.
وَإِذَا وَجَبَ الْإِنْكَارُ عَلَيْهِ كَانَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَهْجُرَ حَتَّى يَنْتَهِيَ عَنْ إِظْهَارِ بِدْعَتِهِ،

Part of this boycott is to neither take knowledge from him or his testimony.
وَمِنْ هَجْرِهِ أَنْ لَا يُؤْخَذَ عَنْهُ الْعِلْمُ، وَلَا يُسْتَشْهَدَ.

إِبْرَاهِيْمُ بنُ المُنْذِرِ: حَدَّثَنَا مَعْنٌ، وَغَيْرُهُ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ:

Knowledge is not to be taken from four types of people:
لاَ يُؤْخَذُ العِلْمُ عَنْ أَرْبَعَةٍ:

A foolish person who openly acts foolish, even if he reports the most narrations;
سَفِيْهٍ يُعلِنُ السَّفَهَ، وَإِنْ كَانَ أَرْوَى النَّاسِ،

An adherent of bid’ah (religious innovations) who calls to his desires;
وَصَاحِبِ بِدْعَةٍ يَدعُو إِلَى هَوَاهُ،

A person who lies, even if I don’t accuse him of lying in regard to Hadith;
وَمَنْ يَكْذِبُ فِي حَدِيْثِ النَّاسِ، وَإِنْ كُنْتُ لاَ أَتَّهِمُهُ فِي الحَدِيْثِ،

And a righteous and pious worshiper who does not accurately retain what he narrates.
وَصَالِحٍ عَابِدٍ فَاضِلٍ، إِذَا كَانَ لاَ يَحْفَظُ مَا يُحَدِّثُ بِهِ.

Many people have not escaped someone speaking ill of them.
وَلَمْ يَنْجُ كَثِيرٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ مِنْ كَلَامِ بَعْضِ النَّاسِ فِيهِمْ،

And people speaking about others regarding their honour and their persons.
وَتَأْوِيلُ بَعْضِهِمْ فِي الْعَرْضِ وَالنَّفْسِ

The people of knowledge (scholars) did not turn to any of this speech except if it is coupled with proofs and evidences,
وَلَمْ يَلْتَفِتْ أَهْلُ الْعِلْمِ فِي هَذَا النَّحْوِ إِلَّا بِبَيَانٍ وَحُجَّةٍ

And their adālah (uprightness in the religion) were not tarnished except when there were proofs and evidences.
وَلَمْ يُسْقطْ عَدَالَتُهُمْ إِلَّا بِبُرْهَانٍ ثَابِتٍ وَحُجَّةٍ

And it has occurred from the Prophet ﷺ according to Tabarānī also by the way of Isma’īl Ibn Muslim, on the authority of Hasan on the authority of Jundub (may Allāh be pleased with him):
وَبَيْنَهُ وَوَقَعَ مَرْفُوعًا عِنْدَ الطَّبَرَانِيِّ أَيْضًا مِنْ طَرِيقِ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ جُنْدُبٍ

You know that I heard the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ saying: “Don’t let there be a barrier between yourselves and Jannah by having a handful of blood from a Muslim (by murder) without right.”
وَلَفْظُهُ تَعْلَمُونَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ لَا يَحُولَنَّ بَيْنَ أَحَدِكُمْ وَبَيْنَ الْجَنَّةِ وَهُوَ يَرَاهَا مِلْءُ كَفِّ دَمٍ مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ أَهْرَاقَهُ بِغَيْرِ حِلِّهِ

Even if it is not narrated straight from the Prophet ﷺ it has its ruling because it does not emanate from opinion. And it is a stern threat to the one who kills a Muslim without right.
وَهَذَا لَوْ لَمْ يَرِدْ مُصَرَّحًا بِرَفْعِهِ لَكَانَ فِي حُكْمِ الْمَرْفُوعِ لِأَنَّهُ لَا يُقَالُ بِالرَّأْيِ وَهُوَ وَعِيدٌ شَدِيدٌ لِقَتْلِ الْمُسْلِمِ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ

السؤال: كيف يحذر الشباب من الحزبيات غير الظاهرة والتي لا يحذر منها إلا قليل من الناس وكيف يعرف الشاب أنه خالف منهج السلف في ذلك؟

Answer: It is known by narrow allegiance. Whoever is with them they respect them and call the people to their lectures and to be around him and whomsoever is not with them he is seen as their enemy.

Ibrāhīm ibn Ma'qil an-Nasafī said: I saw Muḥammad ibn Isma'īl (al-Bukhārī) on the day he was being exiled from the land of Bukhārah.
قَالَ أَحْمَدُ بنُ مَنْصُوْرٍ: فحَكَى لِي بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِنَا عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيْمَ بنِ مَعْقِلٍ النَّسفيِّ قَالَ: رَأَيْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بنَ إِسْمَاعِيْلَ فِي اليَوْمِ الَّذِي أُخرِجَ فِيْهِ مِنْ بُخَارَى،

So I asked him: O Abū 'Abdillāh, what do you think of this day in comparison to the day you were welcomed and it was said for you: “Spread sweets with joy and delight for your arrival.”
فَتقدَّمْتُ إِلَيْهِ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ اللهِ، كَيْفَ تَرَى هَذَا اليَوْمَ مِنَ اليَوْمِ الَّذِي نُثِرَ عَلَيْكَ فِيْهِ مَا نُثِرَ؟

He said: “I don’t care as long as my Religion is safe.”
فَقَالَ: لاَ أُبَالِي إِذَا سَلِمَ دينِي.

Sallām said: A person of the innovated sects said to Ayyūb : “I want ask you about a word.”

Abū Ziyād said: I heard 'Abdur-Rahmān ibn Mahdi saying:
حدثنا عبد الرحمن نا محمد بن مسلم قال سمعت أبا زياد يقول سمعت عبد الرحمن بن مهدي يقول:

People are of types.
الناس على وجوه،

From them is he who is an Imām in the Sunnah (knowledge of the methodology) and an Imām in hadīth (knowledge of hadīth, its sciences and its men).
فمنهم من هو إمام في السنة إمام في الحديث،

From them is he who is an Imām in the Sunnah but not an Imām in hadīth.
ومنهم من هو إمام في السنة وليس بإمام في الحديث،

And from them is he who is an Imām in hadīth, and not an Imām in the Sunnah.
ومنهم من هو إمام في الحديث ليس بإمام في السنة،

As for he who is an Imām in the Sunnah and an Imām in hadīth, then it is the likes of Sufyān ath-Thawrī.
فأما من هو إمام في السنة وإمام في الحديث فسفيان الثوري.

The Prophet ﷺ said: “There are two dawns. One is called the tail of the wolf, which is the false dawn that appears vertically, not horizontally. The other appears horizontally and not vertically.”
