🔻The Battle of Rzhev is a conventional name for four offensive operations conducted by the Soviet troops of the Western (Georgy Zhukov) and Kalinin (Ivan Konev) fronts against Army Group Center on the Rzhev-Sychevka-Vyazma sector until March 31, 1943.

🔻The Battle of Rzhev was one of the bloodiest battles of the Great Patriotic War. Among the Soviet soldiers it is known as the "Rzhev Meat Grinder."

🔻From October 1941 to March 1943, the Red Army lost 1,154,698 men (including wounded and missing) on the Rzhev-Vyazma salient.

🔻In 2020, The Rzhev Memorial to the Soviet Soldier was erected with public funds.

🔻The memorial bears the words of a line from the poem "I Was Killed Near Rzhev" by Alexander Tvardovsky: Мы пали за Родину, но она спасена. We have fallen for the Motherland, but it's saved.
