踏入 10 月，港鐵就會迎接 43 歲生日 🎂 🎊

由石硤尾至觀塘，現時屬於現時觀塘綫一部分嘅九個車站，係香港首條現代化鐵路系統，而地鐵列車比英國原有嘅車廂體積大上一截，因此要送到當時一樣係準備通車，喺紐卡素嘅 Tyne & Wear Metro 輕鐵上試車

最終地下鐵路喺 1979 年 10 月 1 日通車，首日接載咗 285,000 名乘客；而 Tyne & Wear Metro 就喺 1981 年由　大行女皇伊利莎白二世陛下揭幕，雙方今日同為倫敦帝國大學屬下國際都市鐵路聯會（CoMET）的會員

It's time for #MTR to celebrate its 43rd birthday in October

The 9 stations along Shek Kip Mei - Kwun Tong is the first modernised railway system in Hong Kong and obviously trains in Hong Kong are bigger than British carriages so they were sent to Tyne and Wear Metro in Newcastle before rolling out from the factory

MTR - which was known as Mass Transit Railway opened on 1st, October 1979 and carried 285,000 passengers on the first day of business while Tyne & Metro was unveiled by Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in 1981. Both operators are now members of the Community of Metros funded by the Imperial College

The train in this picture has then become Modernisation Train as the refurbishment work started in 1999 and new carriages will soon take over their role gradually
