Sweden is the first among Western countries to transfer AWACS aircraft to Ukraine
The Scandinavians announced yesterday the transfer of a new package of military aid worth $1.26 billion. Today, the list of transferred weapons was published, which includes two AWACS aircraft ASC 890.
Moreover, Sweden is giving away its two only ASC 890 aircraft that were in service with them.
The Saab aircraft were commissioned in the late 1990s and upgraded in the mid-2000s. The aircraft allows for the coordination of F-16s, which Western countries plan to transfer to Ukraine. The radar installed on the ASC 890 allows for tracking aircraft and ships at a distance of 300-400 km.

Italy against "absurd" idea of allowing Kyiv to bomb Russia with Western weapons
Deputy Prime Ministers of Italy, Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini, once again emphasised that the statements made by the EU's Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell, regarding the Ukrainian conflict do not reflect Italy's position, according to Euractiv.
Earlier, Borrell supported NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg's proposal to lift restrictions on Kyiv using Western weapons to strike Russian territory.
“Our position is crystal clear: we will not send Italian troops to war and we do not authorise the use of Italian weaponry beyond Ukraine,” highlighted Foreign Minister Tajani.

Moldova can become a member of the EU without Transnistria in order to avoid being dependent on the Transnistrian issue, said the EU Ambassador to Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks.

The referendum on the republic's accession to the union is scheduled for October 20.
