Italy against "absurd" idea of allowing Kyiv to bomb Russia with Western weapons
Deputy Prime Ministers of Italy, Antonio Tajani and Matteo Salvini, once again emphasised that the statements made by the EU's Foreign Minister, Josep Borrell, regarding the Ukrainian conflict do not reflect Italy's position, according to Euractiv.
Earlier, Borrell supported NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg's proposal to lift restrictions on Kyiv using Western weapons to strike Russian territory.
“Our position is crystal clear: we will not send Italian troops to war and we do not authorise the use of Italian weaponry beyond Ukraine,” highlighted Foreign Minister Tajani.
He stated that these are the terms of the agreements made with Kyiv, and Rome is closely monitoring their compliance. He also pointed out that Italy advocates for reducing tensions in the Middle East and Ukraine.
Transport Minister Salvini expressed himself even more strongly, calling Borrell a "bomb thrower" and his words "absurd".
“He wants the weapons we sent to protect Ukraine to be used for attacks, bombings, and killings on Russian territory,” Salvini stated. “He does not speak on my behalf or on behalf of the Italian people.”

Moldova can become a member of the EU without Transnistria in order to avoid being dependent on the Transnistrian issue, said the EU Ambassador to Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks.
He also added that Brussels would prefer Moldova to join the union together with Transnistria.
The referendum on the republic's accession to the union is scheduled for October 20.

In an interview with Hungary Today, the Hungarian politician warned that NATO is approaching direct participation in the conflict with the Russian Federation.
“We are centimetres away from actual destruction. Do we dare to say that we are not ready to die for Ukraine? We're not ready. Hungarians want peace, and Europe cannot withstand another war,” said Viktor Orban.
