President Joe Biden tested positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, which led to the cancellation of a key pre-election event aimed at securing the support of Latino voters at a critical moment in the elections.
According to his doctor, the 81-year-old Biden experienced mild symptoms and received the first dose of the antiviral drug Paxlovid.
"I feel fine," said Biden, who is fully vaccinated and boosted, to reporters on Wednesday in Las Vegas, giving a thumbs-up before boarding Air Force One to head to his residence in Delaware, where the president will self-isolate in accordance with the recommendations of the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Perhaps this is the first step towards stepping out of the pre-election race? Only time will tell.
