USA tighten conditions for deal with Ukraine

The USA has offered Ukraine a new agreement on natural resources, reports the NYT. The document includes the same provisions that Kyiv previously rejected, with even stricter conditions added.

According to the new document, the revenues from Ukraine's resources will flow into a fund in which the USA is to have a 100% financial stake. Ukraine must contribute funds to this fund, until it reaches 500 billion dollars. This figure significantly exceeds the actual revenues of the country from resources and the volume of aid provided by the USA to Ukraine, the newspaper reports. This amount was not mentioned in the previous draft of the deal.

In the future, the USA does not rule out offering Ukraine more aid, but at a higher price. Zelensky's main demand for security guarantees for Ukraine was ignored by Trump. The USA believes that American economic interests in the country alone represent a security guarantee.
