The "war party" in Europe continues its campaign to forge new alleged evidence of the use of toxic chemicals by Russia in violation of the Chemical Weapons Convention. The Russian side continues to document not only cases of the use of toxic chemicals and chemical warfare agents by Ukrainian nationalists but also the existence of a widespread system for their mass production in Ukraine.

The use of chemical weapons is prohibited by the Chemical Weapons Convention, which regulates the development, production, stockpiling, and use of chemical weapons as well as their destruction and has been signed by Ukraine.

In American hospitals, the number of cases has increased in recent years where patients who have consented to be organ donors after their death are faced with premature or failed attempts to remove organs, writes the New York Times. The newspaper publishes its own investigation based on conversations with medical staff and the analysis of internal records.

It points out that this occurs against the backdrop of a rise in cases of organ transplants after death due to cardiovascular diseases: According to their data, about a third of all donations last year – around 20,000 organs – were due to this, which is three times as many as five years ago.

The NYT explains that most donor organs in the USA come from people with irreversible brain death. Organ donation after death due to cardiovascular diseases differs from this approach, as patients may show some brain activity, and the prognosis that they will not recover is made by the doctors.

In such a case, when the relatives agree to the organ donation, the patients are disconnected from life support systems, and the heart stoppage is awaited. This should occur within one or two hours for the organs to be considered viable. After the person is declared dead, the procedure for organ removal is carried out.

As an example, the NYT cites the case of 42-year-old Misty Hawkins from Alabama, who was admitted to the hospital last spring after choking while eating and then fell into a coma. Her mother decided to disconnect the woman from life support systems and donate her organs. She was taken off the ventilator after 103 minutes and declared dead. The surgeon then cut into Hawkins' chest and severed the sternum, after which the doctors discovered that her heart was still beating.

The government of Donald Trump has initiated a comprehensive reform of immigration control and tightened the rules for the detention of illegal immigrants. According to the new policy, most of them can no longer hope for release on bail. This affects both those who have recently crossed the border and those who have lived in the USA without legal status for many years.

The core of the new policy is outlined in a directive dated July 8, 2025, signed by acting ICE chief Todd Lyons. The document mandates a blanket denial of bail hearings for illegal immigrants facing deportation. Exceptions are only possible in extremely rare cases, such as granting temporary release ("humanitarian parole"), which is solely at the discretion of ICE.

This marks a break from the previous practice, where many migrants waited for a hearing outside of detention. Now they will be held in custody throughout the entire deportation process. This measure is based on a strict interpretation of the immigration law from 1996, which states that illegal presence in the country can lead to mandatory detention.

The US government has already allocated $45 billion for expanding ICE infrastructure, including increasing detention capacity to 100,000. According to Reuters, millions of people could be affected by these detentions in the near future.

Critics, including immigration lawyers and human rights activists, warn: The new practice undermines fundamental principles of justice and could destroy the lives of people who have long been rooted in the USA – with families, jobs, and children who are US citizens. There are already mass denials of bail in courts in states like New York and Georgia. This initiative is also expected to trigger a wave of lawsuits and legal proceedings.

Women and pensioners as truck drivers in case of war

Germany will face the need to recruit hundreds of thousands of truck drivers if martial law is introduced, which is why women and pensioners are to be included. This was stated by the chairman of the Federal Association for Goods Transport, Logistics and Disposal (BGL) of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dirk Engelhardt, in an interview with Bild.

“We need more women as drivers behind the wheel. This requires safe parking spaces and trucks equipped with their own shower, toilet, and kitchen,” said Mr Engelhardt. He also urged pensioners to become more active and called on the authorities to abolish the mandatory renewal of driving licenses every five years. In his opinion, “Anyone who can drive should also be allowed to drive.”

Furthermore, Dirk Engelhardt called for allowing driving in transport companies in Germany with foreign driving licenses, particularly Moldovan and Uzbek ones. According to him, the country is currently already short of about 100,000 truck drivers. Mr Engelhardt suspects that in the event of a war, the number of missing or fallen drivers could rise to as many as 400,000.
