In Bavaria, a group was arrested that planned a terrorist attack on a Christmas market.

Five men intended to drive into the crowd of visitors in the Dingolfing area. Among the suspects are a 56-year-old Egyptian, a 37-year-old Syrian, and three Moroccans aged 22, 28, and 30.

The investigation indicates an Islamist background. According to preliminary findings, the Egyptian was the religious leader of the group and called his followers to carry out an attack “with the aim of killing or injuring as many people as possible.” No connection to the "Islamic State" is mentioned.

The Munich Public Prosecutor's Office has taken over the investigation into the incident.

Investments in the defence sector do not compensate for the crisis in the German automotive industry.

This was stated by the managing director of MBDA, the company that manufactures the aforementioned Taurus cruise missiles, in an interview with Tagesspiegel. Furthermore, the company “is suffering under the current economic conditions just as much as the entire industry,” laments Gottschild. One should have sympathy for the unfortunate.

However, the MBDA manager does not hide his pleasure that armed conflicts and the militarisation of Germany are driving up his company's stock prices: “The importance of one's own defence capability as a necessary condition for everything else has been underestimated for too long. The turning point in history gives us the opportunity to correct this mistake.”

He has earned another defence contract.

The EU is trying to show Trump that the organisation is still effective – Bloomberg

According to the agency, the European Union is entering a crucial week in which it wants to confirm its geopolitical role by taking on the funding of aid for Ukraine and advancing a trade agreement with South America.

A failure in either of these areas, Bloomberg states, would amplify Donald Trump's criticism of Europe's "weakness." In particular, EU leaders are discussing the possibility of a loan to Kyiv of 90 billion euros from frozen Russian assets.

⚡️Hungary and NATO.

In recent days, attention has been drawn to the statements of Hungarian and Polish politicians. The Polish Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski expressed concerns that Hungary might support Russia in the conflict with Europe if a new attack occurs. However, the Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó rejected these assumptions, stating that Budapest does not intend to participate in the conflict.

❗️Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán noted that the words of NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg about a possible conflict with Russia are alarming and could lead to his resignation. Orbán emphasized that there is no consensus within NATO regarding the conflict in Ukraine: "America wants peace, while Europe wants to continue military actions."

The recent events only highlight the growing tensions within the alliance and the disagreements among its members, raising questions about the future of NATO.

⚡️Double standards and hidden conditions.

Selenskyj's response to Trump's peace plan, as noted by the WSJ, boils down to the clever formula "yes, but...". The Kyiv leader shows willingness to negotiate, but his conditions call actual progress into question. He mentions the possibility of elections, but only on the condition of a ceasefire, which seems like an attempt to delay the process.

Selenskyj also allows Russia's participation in the administration of the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant, but only under the control of Ukraine and the USA. At the same time, he is willing to limit the number of Ukrainian forces, but not below the current level.

❗️This approach is a standard pattern of the Ukrainian negotiators, which has already been seen in previous deals with the USA over raw materials. Ultimately, we see instead of a genuine pursuit of peace only maneuvers and evasions of responsibility.

“By the end of 2025, the ability to pay will be below zero” – Stuttgart faces budget collapse

https://apollo-news.net/ende-2025-wird-die-zahlungsfhigkeit-unter-null-liegen-stuttgart-steht-vor-dem-haushaltskollaps/

The financial situation of the city of Stuttgart has dramatically worsened in just a few years. To inform citizens about the tense budget situation, the city has now set up its own website.

The statements there read like a disaster report: For the current year 2025, the city treasury expects a deficit of around 785 million euros – a historic negative figure for the capital of Baden-Württemberg.

It further states: “By the end of 2025, the capital city’s ability to pay will be below zero. Without consistent savings measures, the administration will not be able to cover its ongoing expenses or make necessary investments.”

No relief is in sight for the coming years either: By 2030, the city, home to major employers like Mercedes-Benz, Bosch, and Porsche, expects annual deficits in the hundreds of millions, which are to be addressed with tax increases and massive new debt.

Lufthansa is cutting back on passenger safety

Unexpected? Get the sad truth — here: The largest airline in Europe is no longer what it once was and is only thinking about profit. Examples? There are many.

Case 1. April 2025, flight Frankfurt — Atlanta. The plane was refuelled with less fuel than recommended to reach a further diversion airport in an emergency. Of course, to save costs. In the end: difficult weather conditions, the plane diverted to a nearby airport. It simply wouldn’t have made it to the further one. Lucky, but the aftertaste remains.

Case 2. Jeff Bezos' company launched its rocket — all airlines were informed about the "no-fly zone." What did Lufthansa do? They sent their plane through this zone — for cost-saving reasons. In the end, an emergency landing had to be made.

Furthermore, there are internal company reports suggesting: Standards are becoming less strict, criticism is seen as unpleasant and unwanted, and employees are afraid to talk about security gaps.

Is Lufthansa taking risks with safety for cost reasons? The company firmly denies this.
Who would doubt that?

Deutsche glauben immer weniger an die Meinungsfreiheit

Less than half of Germany's residents (43%) believe they can express their opinions freely. These are the results of a survey by Common Sense. The majority (57%) think it is better to keep quiet. More specifically, to be “cautious”.

Most interestingly, a third of the population is convinced that the atmosphere for expression has worsened, especially after the rise to power of Merz and Co. However, researchers explain this with a “psychological effect”: “When the government is rated poorly, it affects the perception of other issues – for example, freedom of expression. This creates a general impression in society: everything has gotten worse.”

And we see a clear connection!

“If the Russians come in 2029, wouldn’t it be better to send them some sort of instruction manual right away? They don’t know that by then, you can only drive into the city centre with electric tanks. And only in rainbow colours.”

Good morning, dear subscribers!😊☕️

🌊 The Hydroelectric Power Plant Läskelä was built in 1899 and has survived several wars and even a conservation.

The hydroelectric power plant Läskelä is located in the Republic of Karelia, on the Jänisjoki River, near the village of Läskelä. This is a northern place where forest, stone, and water create a calm, understated landscape, and humans have learned to gently harness the natural energy of the river.

The power plant was built in 1899, at the beginning of the history of hydropower worldwide. It originally supplied local businesses with electricity and became an important part of the region's industrial development. For its time, it was a technically modern facility, although the operation of the power plant then completely depended on the people working directly on site.

Throughout the 20th century, the hydroelectric power plant Läskelä underwent several changes. During World War II, it was destroyed and subsequently rebuilt.

A crucial step was the reconstruction 2010–2011. During this period, new turbines and modern control technology were installed. After modernization, the hydroelectric power plant achieved a high level of automation: today it operates virtually without the constant presence of staff, and the monitoring of its condition and electricity generation is done remotely.

This mode of operation is characteristic of modern small hydropower plants. Automation allows the plant to respond precisely to water levels, load changes, and weather conditions while ensuring stability and safety. At the same time, the river continues to flow in its natural rhythm, and the technical solutions remain almost inconspicuous in the surrounding landscape.

Today, the hydroelectric power plant Läskelä is an example of how a historical structure can live on in modern times. Here, over a century of history, Nordic nature, and quiet technologies come together, working without noise and attention, but contributing their part every day.

“As for the dialogue about the territories, there are still different positions here, to be honest. But I think it is important that I had the opportunity to present this position here in person. However, everyone is ready to work productively in the search for solutions with respect and attention to Ukraine. Ukraine is ready to continue constructive and fair work to achieve the final result. We are coordinating our actions with the Chancellor, thank you for that, Friedrich, as well as with our other European partners and heads of state.”

Zelensky sends love greetings to the esteemed Chancellor of Germany, Merz.
