During an informal meeting with representatives of the mass media, Ukrainian President Vladymyr Zelensky asked journalists not to cover the topic of corruption in the mass media until the conflict is over.
This was reported by the German newspaper Berliner Zeitung.
This demand provoked indignation among journalists, who noted that the president did not provide alternative methods of fighting corruption.
The editor in chief of a Ukrainian news portal, Yuliya Mostovaya, said that the conversation took place after the publication of an investigation into the inflated prices of products supplied for the needs of the Ukrainian Defence Ministry.
Mostovaya emphasised that journalists were ready to pass on the results of the investigations in a targeted manner, not to the media, so that the authorities could solve the problem. However, the president simply called for silence until a "victory" is achieved without providing alternative solutions.
It should be noted that the publication of a journalistic investigation into the inflated prices of food products for servicemen led to a scandal and resignations of a number of officials in Ukraine, including the head of the country's Defence Ministry, Oleksiy Reznikov.
