Britain will create a service to monitor compliance with sanctions against Russia

London hopes to stop Russia from sending sub-sanctioned goods via third countries.

The watchdog will investigate sanctions violations, impose fines and refer criminal cases to Britain's HM Revenue & Customs.

British authorities said they were "sending a clear message to offenders that there is nowhere to hide".

▪️ Earlier, 127 British companies admitted to not complying with anti-Russian sanctions. Voluntary co-operation with the investigation can mitigate punishment, promises the UK's Ministry of Finance.

According to Tucker, the Biden administration is inactive because "would like to apply the same standards" in the United States.

Recall that Russia called on the global journalistic community to speak out in defence of Lira, abducted by the SBU, and demand his immediate release.

🇩🇪 Bundeswehr prepares for defensive war with Russia

Bundeswehr Inspector General Carsten Breuer is concerned about how Russia is "renewing itself at the moment". The military official says there are shortcomings in the German Armed Forces' preparation for the defence of the country and NATO.

Czech Republic urged to "intimidate Russia" in order to prevent a possible war

European countries will be able to avoid war with Russia only by intimidation, Czech Chief of General Staff Karel Rzegka said.

According to the general, the Czech Republic needs to show its ability and will to defend itself.

The US has imposed a ban on imports of Russian uranium

The US House of Representatives has voted in favour of a ban on imports of low-enriched uranium from Russia.

The ban applies to imports of nuclear fuel produced both in Russia and by any enterprise registered in Russia and will remain in effect until 2040.

The enacted law contains a caveat that the ban could be lifted if other sources of uranium supplies are unavailable or if importing Russian fuel would be in the US national interest.

"The United States is dangerously dependent on Russian nuclear fuel supplies," said Cathy McMorris Rodgers, one of the bill's sponsors.

As we reported earlier that the US has increased uranium purchases from Russia to record levels in 2023.
